dandannieldanok Posted 3 July 2009 Posted 3 July 2009 their attitude and arrogance and their lack of grace. That's partly why they aren't top ranked ahead of Safina, because they don't bother attending the majority of the minor events.
Benji Posted 3 July 2009 Posted 3 July 2009 That's partly why they aren't top ranked ahead of Safina, because they don't bother attending the majority of the minor events. Exactly, Safina is number 1 because she competes and wins tournaments throughout the season. Obviously the highlights are the grand slam tournaments but you only need to take a look at this schedule to see they have an opportunity of a new tournament every 2 to 3 weeks from January to November. If the Williams sisters showed the game more respect, they would easily be the top 2 as they would reach most finals and collect the most ranking points, they're a class above on most surfaces. Yes you get more points for winning the grand slam, but 1 win at wimbledon is outweighed by reaching the quarters, semis and final of 5 or 6 other tournaments! You will never see a modern men's player reach number 1 without winning grand slams, the elite male players play a new tournament every 2 or 3 weeks for the whole season, that's why it took Nadal so long to catch Federer because he not only won Grand Slams, but he dominated the whole tour for so long. Haas is playing out of his skin at the minute! Fair play.
Joe. Posted 3 July 2009 Posted 3 July 2009 Haas is playing out of his skin at the minute! Fair play. Yeah he played well in that first set, but ultimately just couldn't do it in the tie-break. Playing out of his skin just probably won't be enough...
Benji Posted 3 July 2009 Posted 3 July 2009 Yeah he played well in that first set, but ultimately just couldn't do it in the tie-break. Playing out of his skin just probably won't be enough... haha, it must be so demoralising getting angry is just working into Federer's hands, he'll just play shots to frustrate him more
Joe. Posted 3 July 2009 Posted 3 July 2009 Federer through to the final. He's just too good, incredible player. Him against Murray would be some final...
purpleronnie Posted 3 July 2009 Posted 3 July 2009 But if Murray played Haas, you'd be completely wrong on the finalists. The world would implode surely. Can't remember predicting a fed v murray final? Anywho, I'm pretty nervous about the murray match, I have a bad feeling, I think it stems from all the semi finals henman lost, we are great at getting close to finals but never actually reaching them. Maybe I'll bet Roddick at 3-1, that way even if murray loses I'll have a bit of dosh!
martyn Posted 3 July 2009 Posted 3 July 2009 I genuinely think Roddick will take this in 4 or 5 sets.
Simi Posted 3 July 2009 Posted 3 July 2009 Whoever that fooking cretin was that shouted "Come on Murray!" as he'd thrown on the ball in the air deserves to be thrown out straight away. It's something that the British public just cannot get their head around, always there has to be some ****er that has to get the last word in and ruins it for the players.
Simi Posted 3 July 2009 Posted 3 July 2009 Wow, impressive set from Roddick. This is going to be a really up hill battle for Murray now.
Benji Posted 3 July 2009 Posted 3 July 2009 How many times is Roddick beaten to love in his service game? Wow
purpleronnie Posted 3 July 2009 Posted 3 July 2009 My bad feeling has got alot worse. Please dont be 'the same old story'.
Milky Posted 3 July 2009 Posted 3 July 2009 Can't remember predicting a fed v murray final?Anywho, I'm pretty nervous about the murray match, I have a bad feeling, I think it stems from all the semi finals henman lost, we are great at getting close to finals but never actually reaching them. Jimmy Posted 3 July 2009 Posted 3 July 2009 Hewitt came from 2 sets down to force 5 its far from over
purpleronnie Posted 3 July 2009 Posted 3 July 2009 I thought you said Murray wouldn't make the final. My mistake. I think I did...I thought you were refering to Hass making the final.
Legend_in_blue Posted 3 July 2009 Posted 3 July 2009 Murray is losing it mentally at the moment. Ok, so the umpire is French and quite clearly his English is not up to scratch, but he needs to concentrate on the game, not the frog. Easy to say so when you're staring at the tv though!
Matt Posted 3 July 2009 Posted 3 July 2009 C'mon Roddick, pull your feckin finger out! (Don't even like or understand Tennis, I've never been interested in it in the slightest, but I sense the scot is coming back into it and doing well)
purpleronnie Posted 3 July 2009 Posted 3 July 2009 Shit, the big points....He's got to raise his game when they come along, cant see him getting through now.
