Kitchandro Posted 11 March 2015 Posted 11 March 2015 He's just a boring old geek on a geeky show you tools.
MooseBreath Posted 11 March 2015 Posted 11 March 2015 That must be a literal dozen opinion articles from the guardian on Clarkson now. They are genuinely frothing from every orifice at the prospect of putting a white, middle aged, middle class man down. What a bunch of classless, angry, bitter little people.
Bellend Sebastian Posted 11 March 2015 Posted 11 March 2015 I think there's two types of people in this debate. Those who like Clarkson and those who were bullied at school have never got over it. I don't think you've done so badly That must be a literal dozen opinion articles from the guardian on Clarkson now. They are genuinely frothing from every orifice at the prospect of putting a white, middle aged, middle class man down. What a bunch of classless, angry, bitter little people. Well perhaps. I think they're probably just enjoying the possible downfall of a pied piper of divs
Guest MattP Posted 11 March 2015 Posted 11 March 2015 Was today's Guardian a Clarkson special? Incredible effort to manage to link him to Nigel Farage as well. Couldn't they squeeze Katie Hopkins or HSBC into the article?
orangecity23 Posted 11 March 2015 Posted 11 March 2015 Was today's Guardian a Clarkson special? Incredible effort to manage to link him to Nigel Farage as well. Couldn't they squeeze Katie Hopkins or HSBC into the article? They've got to save something for tomorrow's paper. "Clarkson, HSBC and Katie Hopkins - the unholy patriarchal trio behind the genocide of all women" Anyhoo, no need to cancel the last 3 shows. They only need to film the live studio bits, so they could just use Hammond and May, and bring back Top Gear Dog out of retirement to fill the third chair. Job done, I'll take my several hundred thousand pounds of Director General cash directly deposited into my bank account please.
Guest MattP Posted 11 March 2015 Posted 11 March 2015 Well perhaps. I think they're probably just enjoying the possible downfall of a pied piper of divs A few weeks ago they went into this type of celebration over the apparant banishing of page 3. Hopefully it's a wind up again just see the reaction again from their collection of social misfits.
Guest MattP Posted 11 March 2015 Posted 11 March 2015 http://www.theguardian.com/tv-and-radio/quiz/2015/mar/11/quiz-jeremy-clarkson-or-alan-partridge More from today's Guardian Thank god I read the Times - half a page on this today and then back to proper news. Does the Guardian report on news still?
foxes_rule1978 Posted 11 March 2015 Posted 11 March 2015 Well I think Clarkson only gets the support he does because people believe with out him the show couldn't run or be as good... The guy seems untouchable, but the show would probably be better with someone else. It's about time he stepped aside anyway....
Guest Col city fan Posted 11 March 2015 Posted 11 March 2015 Well I think Clarkson only gets the support he does because people believe with out him the show couldn't run or be as good... The guy seems untouchable, but the show would probably be better with someone else. It's about time he stepped aside anyway.... Don't agree. Clarkson makes it IMO. In an increasingly PC world, full of bull-shite and superficial claptrap, he remains a bastian of saying what he generally thinks, and balls to those who don't like it. I fear the Beeb will finally grind him down though. They've wanted him gone for ages. He's fought it, but he'll lose in the end.
MooseBreath Posted 11 March 2015 Posted 11 March 2015 It really has turned into an embarrassment for the guardian. Devoting so many articles to a bloke whose major crime in their eyes is being a white, middle aged, middle class bloke with mates and, shock horror, opinions of his own is pathetic, especially in the context of them pretending to be liberal and tolerant paper. Lots of casual sexism thrown in by the female columnists as well. They're really showing where their priorities lie today. Forget poverty, politics or war, there's a white man enjoying his life, we must attack him with everything we've got.

The vitriol these people have towards white middle class men just because they don't share their own political opinion and viewpoint on life is astounding.

Do you ever wonder that these guys are the left wing equivalent of the Sun, eg. they're taking the piss (in a more elucidated fashion than Murdochs redtops) and you guys are all falling for it?
Steve_Guppy_Left_Foot Posted 12 March 2015 Posted 12 March 2015 I don't understand why so many people have signed a petition to get him reinstated when they don't know any of the details. IF he's punched somebody in the workplace that's out of order and certainly a cause for instant dismissal as an isolated incident.
ozleicester Posted 12 March 2015 Posted 12 March 2015 A racist, sexist homophobic "reality" show, with 3 outdated hosts, poor writing and the occasional reference to something new or interesting about cars. Belongs in the same place as The Benny Hill Show and Mrs Browns Boys. on the positive side...Havent seen it for a few years, but the camera work was quite superb

Bellend Sebastian Posted 12 March 2015 Posted 12 March 2015 Top Gear stories on the front of The Sun and The Times this morning. Don't these papers report on actual news anymore?
ozleicester Posted 12 March 2015 Posted 12 March 2015 How exactly is it outdated, viewing figure strongly suggest otherwise. IMO they are using the same "formula" they have been since its beginning and that was a bit "oo er missus" even then.
Jimmy Posted 12 March 2015 Posted 12 March 2015 Top Gear stories on the front of The Sun and The Times this morning. Don't these papers report on actual news anymore? It's on most of the papers, it's a story about the star of 1 of the most popular shows
Babylon Posted 12 March 2015 Posted 12 March 2015 A racist, sexist homophobic "reality" show, with 3 outdated hosts, poor writing and the occasional reference to something new or interesting about cars. Done well to be the most watched programme on bbc 2 and worldwide for the bbc then.
ozleicester Posted 12 March 2015 Posted 12 March 2015 Done well to be the most watched programme on bbc 2 and worldwide for the bbc then. I understand Hitler was popular back in the day... theres no accounting for taste

David Guiza Posted 12 March 2015 Posted 12 March 2015 It really has turned into an embarrassment for the guardian. The same can be said for the 100's of thousands of people whom have signed the petition to reinstate him. Yes they don't have the responsibility that the Guardian has to report news, politics etc, but of all the suffering and injustice in the world, the British public chooses a multimillionaire being suspended for attacking someone in the work place to vent their anger. As it happens I quite enjoy him, although he is a prat. I don't agree with most of what he says, although he is basically a character of himself nowadays anyway, but he makes Top Gear what it is, and the show wouldn't work without him. But, the support for the man is somewhat ridiculous. You'd think with the public uproar that he's being extradited to Argentina.
Jon the Hat Posted 12 March 2015 Posted 12 March 2015 The public uproar is being a little misrepresented I think. People don't want Top Gear, a show they enjoy, to go away over what sounds like a fairly minor incident. They don't think the show should have been suspended while the incident was being investigated either, and they are showing that. The idea that everyone is saying, "**** that producer he probably deserved a slap" is a bit of an overstatement.
MooseBreath Posted 12 March 2015 Posted 12 March 2015 racist, sexist homophobic If there was an award for cliché of the century, this would be nominated for sure. The go to triple blaster whenever liberal and tolerant lefties find something they don't like.
Bellend Sebastian Posted 12 March 2015 Posted 12 March 2015 It's on most of the papers, it's a story about the star of 1 of the most popular shows I know that, I was just trolling* MattP after he said the same thing about the Guardian *in my usual cheery, whimsical way, of course
