Are we going up or down?

Can't be arsed to read through all the posts but: Pearson wants players who want to play for City. If that means waiting, then so be it. I'd rather us have the squad we have now and struggle, than sign some mercenaries who 1) don't give a flying-fook about playing for us and 2) see MM and Leicester City as a cash-cow. The days of 'Big' signings like Keown, Poison Dwarf and Ferdinand* et al are hopefully over.

*I did like Ferdie when he was fit though.

:yawn::doh:

Let Pearson do his job, dont start getting on his back before the season has begun, his signings last season were good. And the majority of people including myself are pleased with this years signings :)

As you say, it would be wrong to get on pearsons back, at the signings made, to date.

Also, time will tell, but i would be suprised if milan has given him a very big transfer kitty to work with either, which may govern the kind of players he can bring in.

We have around 2 months of transfer period to come, seems silly making predictions based on a premature squad. Even if Pearson signs another 6 players, I'll reserve judgment once I've watched the team play, and have an idea of what system Pearson is going for.

At least he's noticeably identified weaknesses in the squad and has pursued players that can solve those weaknesses, unlike a lot of City managers.

Wayne Brown :P .

oh yeah! lol

was trying to work out why that sofia fan was saying we were looking at two of their CB's...

Think at the moment our squad is good enough to keep us up next year, possibly push into mid-table. With some high-quality signings I think the play-offs are not necessarily out of reach, although at the minute we aren't being linked with anyone of proven championship quality, which is a worry. I think our signings so far have been good without being exceptionally exciting, and I've got confidence NP will get another midfielder and striker in soon, which must be our next priority.

Anyway, speculation (mine included) is pointless at this stage. We'll see what happens come August...

Agree, probably not happy because they were mainly frees.

When you start having sex with real people, I wonder if you'll continue to use this criteria for happiness...

I firmly believe we'll be in mid-table come May, and that that would represent progress.

Our defence is already Championship standard, and the arrival of Robbie Neilson can only improve matters in that department. In terms of midfield, Oakley is proven at Championship level and has proved himself to be a good captain. His experience can only aid Andy King's development, a player who is likely to be one of our most important again next season. The arrival of N'Guessan gives extra options on either wing, though Dyer and Gradel will be more than able to scare defences when on form.

My only worry is up front. Fryatt simply hasn't appeared to be a good Championship striker and the reason for that is his lack of pace. That won't improve and you can't help but feel he will struggle to get into double figures if he doesn't get the service. Steve Howard isn't getting any younger and his style of play means he's often penalised by referees. In my opinion, we need a pacy striker and a young target man to start bringing into the squad. If we get those two things, we could surprise a few people and reach the play-offs.

I certainly don't see us getting embroiled in a relegation battle, not least because there are at least five teams in the division that are weaker than us and more likely to struggle.

I think one of the problems is they cant off load DJ and he does not want to play for the club anymore so i cant see another striker coming in until his future is sorted and with the £14mil lost by Milan i dont think we are going to see any other signings over £1.5mil this season my prediction half-way.

Can't believe np hasn't got a new striker or strikers yet?????

I agree 100% with your comment. Just wait until the season kicks of and big Steve and Fryatt can't penetrate defences like they used to in the 3rd division. FFS get stuck in Pearson and get a top end striker. We need someone like a young Kevin Phillips. I read Martin O'Neil got bargain players. That may be the case but he didn't drag them out of Divisions 3 or 4. Any way you cannot compare Pearson to the great Martin O'Neil. Pearson has to have a lot more wins under his coaching belt before he is in the same class as O'Neil.

Matt Elliott, Neil Lennon and Robbie Savage? Were all playing at league 1 level when he signed them?

Cult Heroes like Steve walsh and Iwan Roberts came from those levels too.

Short short memories some city fans have. This can't be a serious thread.

Leicester should sell DJ to the seasiders. So he can help the village Idiot (Ollie) send Blackpool down to the 3rd Division. Just take for DJ what you can get and Top up his wages, he has no respect anymore for the City or his team mates. Just get rid of him.

Are you the man with the foul mouth? I recall your comment on my thread .I see it has been taken of. It will not be long before you shoot yourself in the foot again and get dumped for good.

Up the City (if only they could) But seriously we need to start signing a big name or two for up front.

Like Dennis Wise? Dion Dublin? Martin Keown? Roberto Mancini? Stan Collymore (Was a good player, but didn't last long, and caused abit of trouble for us)?
