Pearson's most astute signing to date without a shadow of a doubt. How he managed to pick out this guy from being Bristol Cty's second choice and League Two loan fodder I'll never know. Genius of a signing.

League ONE loan fodder, League ONE. We were in the same league last season after all...

I cant believe Bristol think they have not just 1 but 2 better keepers than Weale!! He was 3rd choice! What a joke

He was 2nd choice and our 1st choice keeper was very good (but had ideas above his station asking for a transfer, expecting Premiership clubs to swoop in - 5 months later he's still unwanted and now sat on the bench).

A lot of fans rated Weale but he was never given a decent chance. Delighted he's now playing first team football at a club that appreciates him.

I think at the time he signed it was mentioned that it was Mike Stowell was the one who spotted and recommended him as a signing to Pearson so as an unsung hero if this is true Stowell deserves some credit for spotting him the first place

I can account for that and I know a few BC fans that rated him highly, Yeovil one's too. Is your crazy Brazilian keeper still with you (forgotten name)?

I definitely remember that not long after we signed him, my dad was working in Bristol and was told by a Robins fan that he was gutted they'd let him go.

Although tbf, last time we were in this division, Adriano Basso was rated as one of the best keepers in the league.

Just because he wasn't well heard of doesn't mean he wasn't well regarded, I mean how much does the average football fan ACTUALLY see of the footballers they do think are good? If you'd followed Yeovil at all (and don't get me wrong, it's not terribly surprising that hardly anyone has), you'd know he was pretty damn highly rated.

Not just for last night.

There's so much debate about our outfield players that the performances of our goalkeeper sometimes seem to get overshadowed.

Great season so far, arguably our best player along with Fryatt and in my opinion Pearson's best signing on current evidence.

WEALE.

The best keeper in the Championship from what I've seen.

Nope was at Loftus but I really really think we should have a FT meet up in the Pump and Tap before it shuts and gets bulldozed for a swimming pool!

Absobloodylutely! :chant::beer:

Yeah, Basso is still with us. Waited until Weale left before throwing his toys out the pram and demanding a ridiculous contract. When it wasn't given he handed in a transfer request. Since then he's warmed the bench. Good keeper but a fool. Luckily we got Dean Gerkin who's been a hero this season.

I can just see him doing that in this years play off final....!!

Touch wood he stays fit because his deputy isn't fit to lace his boots

Going off topic here i would say that this is true and we need to sign a better back-up keeper in january.

I think we'll sign a keeper on loan if Weale gets injured. Having a full time back up keeper is a bit of a waste of money when the rules let you do this, it is also difficult to keeper a reserve keeper happy with rotation in the position being pretty undesirable.

Well it seems the likes of Ben Foster either get in because no other goalkeepers are available OR just because he plays for Man Utd! seems to have played some shockers when given his chance this season

I felt this needed to be shown as I noticed he had scored, when looking at his stats on the OS.

Good find.

Salmon like leap and a bullet header, we finally have that goal scoring keeper we've been lacking for so long.

precisamundo. if you play for one of the "big four" then you are bound to be in the england squad because you play for one of the "big four". This is the way it always has worked and always will work.

if you ask me its all an FA conspiracy theory.

Thracian loves him as he raises the scoring possibility within the team.

As others have said, I was a bit concerned when it hit me he was to be our number one.

Well, how wrong was I to worry. Solid and dependable and a brave bastard. Could be a real cult hero for us, like I am told the likes of Wallington were before him.
