Lillehamring Posted 10 January 2010 Posted 10 January 2010 It's obvious he only plays as we spent a large amount of money on him even if it means he's out of position.Like you said why not Adams or N'guessan or even our own Gradel. And Oakley on the wing again. I'm happy with the point and not going to get carried away and overreact like most on here but if we ironed out these small flaws it would put us in good stead. i think that my only criticism of pearson's brave substitutions was that fraytt should have been replaced rather than dyer or wellens. mind you i thought we looked much stronger in the midfield after they came on than before
Fox You Forest Posted 10 January 2010 Posted 10 January 2010 Not happy, Not unhappy, slightly disappointed. Pretty much sums it up. Anybody know why my toes are black?
Bert Posted 10 January 2010 Posted 10 January 2010 We could never really get going today because Fryatt was pretty much always tightly marked and Howard always had 2 men on him.
Edmund Posted 10 January 2010 Posted 10 January 2010 i think that my only criticism of pearson's brave substitutions was that fraytt should have been replaced rather than dyer or wellens.mind you i thought we looked much stronger in the midfield after they came on than before We weren't bad but like you've mentioned in previous posts the final ball was shocking. I just don't think players like Gallagher should be on the wing when it was evident he can't cross a ball to save his life. We had two wingers in N'Guessan and Adams on the bench who play in that position naturally. I'm just starting to view Gallagher as a bit of a flop considering how much money we spent on him. Pearson clearly and deservedly rates Waghorn, Fryatt, kermo and Howard up front ahead of him. It's almost as if we stick him on the wing just to justify the price tag and give him game time and in hindsight I don't think Pearson would have purchased him and invested elsewhere.
colbo68 Posted 10 January 2010 Posted 10 January 2010 What an utter dross. im glad you posted that cos that's just what I've come on here to say. Again, there is no doubt that Pearson has worked wonders with the resources to hand. However, that game was FOOKIN AWFUL! I lost count the number of times that our lads, most notably Brown (what has gone wrong with him!), Oakley and McGivern gave the ball away when under absolutely no pressure whatsoever. Its a good job that the average standard of the teams in the division is generally poor, because, on that showing, we are miles away from the premiership. Yes, it was a point gained, but as a spectacle at times it was embarassing. Really should have been a home win cos the Tractor boys were as dire as we were. The only players that stood out for me were Weale, with some decent saves, Steve cos he put in a lot and Llloyd who is the only one who runs at defences. Everyone else today shite....
shen Posted 10 January 2010 Posted 10 January 2010 it really does surprise me how critical everyone is being, in the second half when gallagher, waghorn and kermo came on ipswich could hardly get hold of the ball, even our defence we're looking fairly assured.the only thing missing was a decent final ball, and the real evidence of how dominant we finished the game was by the nervousness of the ipswich fans in the pub with us, because as poor as some people are making us out to be, the ipswich lot were bricking it and we were just waiting for that one killer ball. I think the frustration gets to people's heads. We only had ourselves to blame that we didn't get the three points today, because Ipswich were content to sit back for 45 minutes. We didn't capitalise on the long spells of pressure, which is a bit disappointing. I can't remember one dangerous cross or through ball all second half, in fact, apart from Fryatt's chance, I only remember King's chance from a route one move. So while the team looked rather comfortable during the second half and should get credit for that, they should know it was a good chance wasted to get three points.
Babylon Posted 10 January 2010 Posted 10 January 2010 i mean people are criticising them because they aren't playing killer balls, yet that was sorely lacking in all areas today. No people are moaning at their inability to even find a player in a blue shirt stood 10 metres away with nobody even near him.
lou Posted 10 January 2010 Posted 10 January 2010 be lucky to make the play offsrant over Oh right and you wouldnt have been delighted with that at the beginning of this season?! Were 5th with 2 games in hand for a start and have just drawn against one of the divisions inform teams despite going a goal down after 20 odd seconds! Hardly a disaster? Just remembered Brown's overhead kick, couldn't stop laughing when he went for that Ditto, made me laugh so much, he cant kick it very well stood on his feet let alone an overhead one! Bless him for trying though
Ozwin Posted 10 January 2010 Posted 10 January 2010 McAuley looks massive these days, he was a lot lankier when he was with us. Him and their other CB were shadowing Steve Howard who's not exactly small.
colbo68 Posted 10 January 2010 Posted 10 January 2010 Same old story every week now.No right winger, awful fooking Captain Oakley had yet another shocking game to add to his large selection this season. No pace or cutting edge up front, Howard did well for him today but the goal was a gift, Fryatt was a lazy twat all game. We must be the worst team in the world at set pieces, didn't Wenger say once we took the best set pieces in Europe not anymore, must have wasted 15+ today, most of them down to Shitty fooking bastard captain crap Oakley. Even Wellens has been shite recently, King did well, Dyer did very well but you can't expect 2 players alone to keep the midfield going. The Neilson moans are an absolute fooking joke, yes he's fooking woeful on the ball cannot cross or pass, but he always gets forward on the right wing and gets into space and good positions, the only reason he has to do that is because we have no right winger Oakley is nowhere, Neilson is doing 2 jobs. It's actually ridiculous some of the Neilson comments i heard, thats Oakleys fault for not being in his position, if Neilson improves his basic ball skills he will be a really good player. McGivern is shit, and compared with Berner very shit. Brown was poor. Morrison was fantastic and is probably Pearsons best signing at present. Weale was good. Weale, Morrison, King and Dyer and possibly Howard were our only hopes today. Pearson got his subs wrong today, i feel so sorry for Dany N'Guessan, what the fook has he got to do to even get a sub appearence, and Yann should have probably been starting ahead of Howard, his goal was a gift. Same old story every week though, no width on the right, shit Captain, no pace or cutting edge upfront and woeful set plays, Pearson needs to sort it out because it's been like that all season apart from a few great all round performances. We must be the worst team in the world at set pieces, cant agree with you more, surely one of em can get it past the first man!! - the times this season we have just simply wasted great opportunities due to shite crosses is massively apparent
Dylan Posted 10 January 2010 Posted 10 January 2010 Thats got to be thee most boring game i've seen in a while. Neilson was poor, I think he's past it, time to give someone else a chance. He's too slow, crap, and the one thing he's supposed to be good at- Long throws, were shit too. McGivern played poor for me too, but then the whole team did. Oakley's only in the team because he's captain, he cant play on the right at all. I think putting 2 forwards on the wing (Gallagher and Waghorn) was a wrong move. We had Nguessan on the bench, who came off the bench last week and played good, so I feel he should've came on one of the wings. On a whole, the team played poor. We couldn't put 3 passes together, and just resorted to long balls (and we hardly won any of the headers).
Lillehamring Posted 10 January 2010 Posted 10 January 2010 That was class!!! we were crap for 1st 20 mins , but looked ok still a bit dodgy at the back , pearson seriously needs to look at a new right back someones whos solid , cause neilson is just a complete liability , king should of buried that chance he had in 2nd half !! still we are 5th ppl and i would have certainly taken that at the start of our season , anyone moaning should look at derbys result yesterday 4-1 AT HOME AGAINST SCUNNY the replay showed it was heading more as a cross than a shot before it was blocked.
Lillehamring Posted 10 January 2010 Posted 10 January 2010 We weren't bad but like you've mentioned in previous posts the final ball was shocking. It's almost as if we stick him on the wing just to justify the price tag and give him game time and in hindsight I don't think Pearson would have purchased him and invested elsewhere. yeah, but in gallagher's defense, he holds the ball up so well - i mean he's never gonna win that much in the air, but i think if he had the ball played to his feet in the penalty area, players like fryatt, king and dyer would get way more shooting chances. i don't think his problem is that he's not good enough, but, as everyone knows, he's being played in the wrong place.
Lillehamring Posted 10 January 2010 Posted 10 January 2010 No people are moaning at their inability to even find a player in a blue shirt stood 10 metres away with nobody even near him. true, but again, if the midfielders can't even manage this, it seems a bit harsh to be criticising the fullbacks for it.
Finnegan Posted 10 January 2010 Posted 10 January 2010 yeah, but in gallagher's defense, he holds the ball up so well - i mean he's never gonna win that much in the air, but i think if he had the ball played to his feet in the penalty area, players like fryatt, king and dyer would get way more shooting chances.i don't think his problem is that he's not good enough, but, as everyone knows, he's being played in the wrong place. Agree with you on Gally. We haven't had a player like him in a while, in my opinion, one who inspires so much confidence when he's on the ball. Isn't too often he just gifts it away, he's got skill and composure with the ball at his feet. Not saying he should be starting up front necessarily but I would have him in the side. Deceptively quick n'all.
Guest Basildon Fox Posted 10 January 2010 Posted 10 January 2010 The good thing is, regardless of how poor we were today, this Leicester side are made of better stuff these days as proved with our 3 straight wins after 2 humiliating defeats against Forest and Bristol City.Any knee jerk reactions about the side by anyone serves to show massive levels of idiocy. Think Wellens will get away with an abysmal performance today as well, thanks to the comedy triumverate at the back. Agree 100%. Has no influence on a game and I have yet to see him have an effective game yet. Wasn't even his neat and tidy sideways passing on show today. Was he really the best midfielder in the division last season as he self proclaims?
AjcW Posted 10 January 2010 Posted 10 January 2010 Oh the beauty of having sky+ Cant believe I spent all day waiting for work to end so I could rush home and watch that shower!! Mcgivern needs to go back to being that bloke out of the davinci code who whips himself. Neilson needs to go back to Scotland and Oakley needs to retire :fc: . Impressed with steve though, and Kingy is getting more assured on the ball every game, he's definitely going to be a star, no doubt about it.
Guest Posted 10 January 2010 Posted 10 January 2010 I wasn't expecting a footballing feast, given the likely conditions, so I was disappointed by the game or the result. Ipswich set their stall out very early, and even if they hadn't got the goal, I suspect that they would have sat behind the ball and closed down at every opportunity. They were certainly happy to waste time before 5 minutes were on the clock. The fact that we equalised when we have always seemed to struggle against teams that sit back says a lot. Ok, so our players aren't world beaters, but what exactly are people expecting? A forward line of Ronaldo and Rooney? Lampard in the middle? Get a grip. We're a Championship club with limited resources. We've already surpassed most people's expectations this season. I'd hate to think how people would (or rather, wouldn't) cope if we were in the bottom few places in the table.
Guest Mee-9 Posted 10 January 2010 Posted 10 January 2010 Can't beat a boring draw to get the ******/boo boys out in full force

l444ry Posted 10 January 2010 Posted 10 January 2010 Drat!!!! Bloody shame that there is an opposition...... everyone's performance would be so spot on and everyone would be happy!!!
Ozwin Posted 10 January 2010 Posted 10 January 2010 What exactly did McGivern do wrong? I thought he had quite a decent game tbh, looked much more confident and assured than he normally is.
Maybes Posted 10 January 2010 Posted 10 January 2010 Performance wasnt brilliant but Im happy with a point. Ipswich have been in some great form of late, picking up some decent wins on the road. Roll on swansea.....
davieG Posted 10 January 2010 Posted 10 January 2010 Drat!!!! Bloody shame that there is an opposition...... everyone's performance would be so spot on and everyone would be happy!!! Or as we used to say at work bloody customers if it weren't for them we could get on with the job Mind you we also used to it's a good job we weren't designing and building aircraft
