Fosse Boy Posted 10 January 2010 Posted 10 January 2010 Same old story every week now. Yeah, that's why we're 5th in the table.
Matt Posted 10 January 2010 Posted 10 January 2010 What exactly did McGivern do wrong? I thought he had quite a decent game tbh, looked much more confident and assured than he normally is. Scored a OG? (Fair enough it happens, Franky Sinclair scored many but he played many games for us) Always backing off the attacker? Never making the tackles or defending? Misplaced passes? (Today alot of our player made that mistake to be fair but it's common from McGivern) He doesn't look comfortable on the ball? He doesn't want the ball? Always looking to get rid of the ball, even if it means kicking it out for a throw in, corner, or to anyone - including the opposition? Berner's injured? I'd rather play someone out off position than play McGivern. Neilson, I'll let off he's growing on me slightly, he's improved slightly, but in all honesty I wouldn't be sorry if he went (He's not going, but i'm saying if). Those 2 players are the main subject of my disappointment - Not today, but just in general, please replace McGivern, atleast.

Koke Posted 10 January 2010 Posted 10 January 2010 Agree with you on Gally. We haven't had a player like him in a while, in my opinion, one who inspires so much confidence when he's on the ball. Isn't too often he just gifts it away, he's got skill and composure with the ball at his feet. Not saying he should be starting up front necessarily but I would have him in the side. Deceptively quick n'all. He's our most creative player. He got skill and composure. And he's got a decent right foot - although I was disappointed his last second corner didn't even beat the first man. As for the game, I think most people are forgetting that prior to this game Ipswich had 1 loss in 14 - yes that's one loss in fourteen games. So anyone expecting us to stream roll them is delusional. Very scrappy game, and we were well below par, but I'm happy with a point.
CosbehFox Posted 10 January 2010 Posted 10 January 2010 Same old story every week now. Remind me of the last three results before today please you fickle arse. It was a poor game today, some of the passing was dreadful but that's how it goes. We're newly promoted side positioned 5th with two games in hand on 2nd. It's hardly crisis point or 'same crap, every week'.
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 10 January 2010 Posted 10 January 2010 I dont think i can remember a game when our corners have been so poor! Oakley or Galagher it doesnt matter they are all shocking! Needs a lot of work on in the training ground.
Guest Mee-9 Posted 10 January 2010 Posted 10 January 2010 Look on the bright side, this game couldn't have even been on. It could of easily been a Tuesday night in February and we could of lost. We salvaged a point guys. Don't moan.

Oakley or Galagher it doesnt matter they are all shocking!Needs a lot of work on in the training ground. Our corners have been poor for a while, I commented on it many times last season aswell despite flying high. The last few comments on this thread have been pessimistic by me, On today i'm not pessimistic or moaning, please don't me wrong, my first post in this threads sums my thoughts up; Not happy, Not unhappy, slightly disappointed, the result was acceptable, we'll move on. I'm just pointing out things and players that really do need some work and/or dropping.
Guest Posted 10 January 2010 Posted 10 January 2010 Oh, and the set pieces - THEY'VE BEEN CRAP FOR AGES. Have people only just noticed?
skinnydipper Posted 10 January 2010 Posted 10 January 2010 We didn't deserve more than a draw but bearing in mind that we'd won our last 3 at home and that Ipswich had only lost 1 in 13 I'm not going to lose too much sleep over todays result/performance. Weale seems to have lost his early season confidence, flapping at crosses and not being decisive in dealing with through balls. Still a good shot stopper though. Brown must be one hell of a talker/motivator on the pitch because he can't be in the team on performance. Today he was back to his MK Dons worst. Wonder what others think about him bawling them out when he's putting in a shite performance himself. A priority for strengthening must be the full back positions. McGivern has improved from the earlier shockers in the season but still prone to serious gaffs and positionally naive. One of the positives of Neilson was meant to be from an attacking threat posed from his throws and crosses. I can't remember anything of any significance coming via these this season although I don't understand why Howard isn't usually at the front post to provide the flick on. On a good day Neilson is average and on a bad day ...... King has made the step up. My player of the season last year and a consistently good performer this. Does a lot of the "bits and pieces" work for the team and a hard worker. Howard had one of his best games of the season today, not just for the goal but for his all round play and effort. That said, I can't help thinking that with a run in the side Kermo will offer the team so much more. His greater mobility will offer more attacking options and put more pressure on a defence playing the ball out. He appears to be better with his feet than Howard and poses more of an aerial threat through a better ability to direct his headers to a team mate. At the final whistle today he stormed off the pitch, ignoring Pearson and kicking something.Perhaps after his impact against Swansea he thought he'd get more than 8 minutes. I'd really like to see him get a run in the team and can't help but think that Howard is starting because he's one of Pearson's favourites Don't understand why we put two attackers on as wide midfielders when we have N'Guessen and Adams on the bench. Perhaps my lack of understanding illustrates why being the assistant coach to Harborough U 8s was the pinnacle of my managerial career Overall pleased with the season to date. Roll on Wembley in May.
davieG Posted 10 January 2010 Posted 10 January 2010 Scored a OG? (Fair enough it happens, Franky Sinclair scored many but he played many games for us) Was it not a deflection? Always backing off the attacker? / Never making the tackles or defending? This is the modern way, tackles are a risk and a sign of panic/ desperation Misplaced passes? (Today alot of our player made that mistake to be fair but it's common from McGivern) True as with most of the team including those who are supposed to be skilled at it (Wellens/Oakley) and it seems he's instructed to play the ball down the line where there's always the risk it will go out of play He doesn't look comfortable on the ball? When he's not under pressure he's ok remember these are his first ever games at this level he's obviously got a lot to learn and a lot of confidence to gain He doesn't want the ball? From whom? The only person who should be passing it to him is Weale Always looking to get rid of the ball, even if it means kicking it out for a throw in, corner, or to anyone - including the opposition? Ditto most fullbacks in this league. Berner's injured? I'd rather play someone out off position than play McGivern. Name them. Neilson should be considerable better at most aspects of the game than McGivern considering his vastly greater experience and age.

Full backs are often the players on the pitch who have most possesion, i think its vital the full backs in the team are comfortable on the ball and allways offer themselves to centre halfs and centre midfielders for the short balls and when switching play.
Tony Pine Posted 10 January 2010 Posted 10 January 2010 i thought our set pieces were good against sheff utd

Tis true it just seemed a pretty pointless and desperate point to hone in on, I don't think he looks uncomfortable on the ball or afraid of accepting a pass of course he has his faults but that's not one of them. He'd hardly expect a ball from Brown would he it would be going off somewhere else .
Shane Posted 10 January 2010 Posted 10 January 2010 For fook sake, Ryan Mcgivern drives me nuts whenever I see him play. ALL HE DOES IS BLOODY HOOF IT! EVEN WHEN THERES A FREE PASS HE STILL HOOFS IT..!!!!!!! PATHETIC!!

The 2 passes Brown played towards the end of the 1st half were absolutely awful and then he gives Wellans a bollocking for giving it him !!

You can always tell when Brown's fooked something up the nearest player in a Blue shirt suffers a severe bollocking.
Ozwin Posted 10 January 2010 Posted 10 January 2010 You'd think we lost 6-0. We got a point today people!

Shane Posted 10 January 2010 Posted 10 January 2010 he really is the worst defender Fixed. MCGIVERN OUT! TRAORE IN!
Fosse Boy Posted 10 January 2010 Posted 10 January 2010 Dyer was the only one who shone for me today, and at times even his decision making was pretty poor. But hey, you can't win 'em all. That's football. In fact, that's life. So just take a minute, calm down and think before you post people! We're half way through the season and the glass is very much half full. We've every reason to still be optimistic. Oh, and whoever it was joining in with Dale Cavese in the second half, I you.
Edmund Posted 10 January 2010 Posted 10 January 2010 Agree with you on Gally. We haven't had a player like him in a while, in my opinion, one who inspires so much confidence when he's on the ball. And he's got a decent right foot - although I was disappointed his last second corner didn't even beat the first man. There's no doubt he's got quality but what both of you seem to be missing is the fact his final ball was utter turd. I don't expect him to be the best crosser but if you're going to play wing then you should at least be able to send in a decent cross or two. Today his final ball was utterly hopeless.
jonthefox Posted 10 January 2010 Posted 10 January 2010 only just defrosted my fingers to post. i thought the game was pigshit and in the end i was surprised to even get a point. How much longer neilson is in the team is anyones guess, because today his passing was piss poor AND he was partly to blame for thier goal imo. still, its another point to where we want to be . ps, did anyone else slip on thier arse today on the saff.....no, just me then.
