DB11 Posted 18 April 2010 Posted 18 April 2010 Has it endangered the safety of an opponent? Look at the image, he's come straight through the player, both feet off of the floor and he's not in control of himself. Watching the video, you see the force he goes in as well as the two previous points I mentioned... it has endangered the safety of his opponent and so is a red card. In this era of football, that is a red card all the time.

In this era of football, that is a red card all the time. Whether on this occasion it was a red or yellow card, I'd love you to dissect the referee's performance after every game, Go over all the bad decisions they've made - As well as the good, right decisions, yet when a referee makes a clear fuck up that cause big debate we never see you post, coincidence? Yet when he makes arguably the right decision you're right there supporting the referee.
Rich Fox Posted 18 April 2010 Posted 18 April 2010 Never a red card the watford players were a **** disgrace for there reaction to this hope they go down shit little club anyway.
Corky Posted 18 April 2010 Posted 18 April 2010 12 months ago big Steve scored a superb header in the home game against "the champions of europe" Leeds, and I'll never forget that moment. It would be a real shame if the lasting impression he makes here is one in which fans find it hard to forgive a challenge which wasn't even particularly bad. I fail to see what his goal against Leeds has to do with yesterday. Are you saying that we shouldn't criticise players in the aftermath of an incident because they did something memorable in previous games? I'm saying he didn't need to make that sort of challenge. It doesn't make him a dirty player, he hasn't gone down in my estimations, I'm disappointed that we've lost a striker for potentially three crucial games should we finish in the top six.
Legend_in_blue Posted 18 April 2010 Posted 18 April 2010 Cheers Steve for the good memories! I hope he goes on and does this in the playoff final (should we get there).
Hugo Sanchez Posted 18 April 2010 Posted 18 April 2010 Cheers Steve for the good memories! I hope he goes on and does this in the playoff final (should we get there). What you're clearly not getting is it was fooking stupid of him, we are 2-0 up and we're on way to a easy win with about a min left of the first half. The ball is rolling out for a goal kick, why the fook would you make that tackle ?! He fooking risk our lead and our chances of getting into the playoffs, imagine if 2nd half Watford would had came out all guns blazing and went on to draw or even win. Would Steve big a hero then ? Steve Howard let himself down yesterday and the team and the fooking supporters. I really don't see why you're posting a clip whats a year old. He didn't fooking take us up single handly now did he ? It was hardly Steve Claridge against Palace was it ? We were on our way up anyway. Steve Howard is fooking Derby scum.
Jimbo Posted 19 April 2010 Posted 19 April 2010 At the end of the day it was a stupid challenge to put in. It was needless and reckless, but I still don't think it was a red. The referee was told it was a yellow by the linesman. But still produced the red. Yes what he did was a little silly and he's now messed up his chances just when things were starting to go well (ish) for him again but......... If he'd have got that challenge slightly right, we'd have been applauding him for not giving up on the ball, and it could have led to a 3rd goal, who knows?
Teeno Posted 19 April 2010 Posted 19 April 2010 I think it could be a blessing in disquise. If we get in the play offs and manage to get something from the 1st leg he will be the ideal player to bring in for the 2nd leg. Playing the same team twice in 3/4 days it will important to mix it up a bit. He will be the ideal player to have if we are needing to defend a lead.
Craig Posted 19 April 2010 Posted 19 April 2010 at everyone saying it shouldn't have been a red card. Take off your blue tinted glasses for a second. The ref was absolutely useless, but that was probably the one thing he got spot on.
CosbehFox Posted 19 April 2010 Posted 19 April 2010 Steve Howard is fooking Derby scum. Hahaha. He's been here longer than he was at Derby!

Trav Le Bleu Posted 19 April 2010 Posted 19 April 2010 I more bothered by the Sooper Steve chants. That was our chant for Steve Claridge and Howard (and I've been one of his most fervant supporters on here) has done nothing to earn that mantle yet.
Tony Pine Posted 19 April 2010 Posted 19 April 2010 at everyone saying it shouldn't have been a red card. Take off your blue tinted glasses for a second. the linesman thought it was a yellow. is he a city fan too?
Craig Posted 19 April 2010 Posted 19 April 2010 the linesman thought it was a yellow. is he a city fan too? Since when has anyone on here ever used a linesman's opinion to justify their own?! Shows how ridiculous this whole debate is. It was a two footed, rash challenge from behind. Red card.
Babylon Posted 19 April 2010 Posted 19 April 2010 If we had drawn 2-2 or lost the game, I guarantee the same people who stood and clapped him would be on here wanting his blood.
FoxyPV Posted 19 April 2010 Posted 19 April 2010 He's like the Baby Balloon There was a Daddy Balloon a Mummy balloon and a baby balloon. One night they were getting ready for bed and Baby balloon wanted to sleep in his mummy and daddy's bed. Daddy Balloon said " You are too old to sleep in our bed. It is time you started sleeping in your own bed. So off you go" Sadly baby balloon trooped of to his own bed. Later that night he crept into his parents room and tried to climb in with them. But there was not enough room. So very carefully he reached down and let a little air out of his Dad. He tried to get in but there was still not enough room. So he reached down and let a little air out of his Mum. He tried again to climb in, but there still was not quite enough room. So he reached down and let out a little of his own air. He climbed back into the bed and fitted in perfectly between his parents. He was soon asleep. In the morning when Daddy balloon woke up he was very very cross. He turned to baby balloon and said. " I told you that you are too old now to sleep in our bed and you have disobeyed me. You have let me down, your mother down and worst of all you have let yourself down." Love this joke.
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 19 April 2010 Posted 19 April 2010 He was totally irresponsible, and let his team mates down badly.
DB11 Posted 19 April 2010 Posted 19 April 2010 How do people know that the assistant suggested a yellow? Plus Football League line = level three; Football League middle = level one (more experienced than AR. It may have been 'orange' and due to the reaction of the Watford players, the referee felt that he had to go up rather than down so that the game does not get out of hand)

Koke Posted 19 April 2010 Posted 19 April 2010 It was a red card. It was stupid and unnecessary. We're cruising 2-0, the ball is going out for a goal kick and there's about a minute left for half time, and then he goes in fora stupid reckless challenge like that. Fortunately, we won the game convincingly. He's an experienced seasoned pro. He should have known better.
Arkie Bennett Posted 19 April 2010 Posted 19 April 2010 We would have expected a red card if it had been a foul on one of our players.
Guest Posted 19 April 2010 Posted 19 April 2010 We would have expected a red card if it had been a foul on one of our players. Doesn't mean we'd have got it. Seen a lot worse go unpunished this season
Bugg Posted 19 April 2010 Posted 19 April 2010 Doesn't mean we'd have got it. Seen a lot worse go unpunished this season Ryan Taylor's challenge on Waggy is one that comes to mind there.
caz05 Posted 19 April 2010 Posted 19 April 2010 Some fans on here are so fickle. Show big Steve some respect people. The challenge wasn't particularly bad, and certainly did not warrant a red card, and far worse have been witnessed on the field of play which have got away with yellows or nothing at all. The referee was influenced by the Watford players, the guy involved went down like he was pole-axed, and the reaction of the opposition fans escalated the situation. 12 months ago big Steve scored a superb header in the home game against "the champions of europe" Leeds, and I'll never forget that moment. It would be a real shame if the lasting impression he makes here is one in which fans find it hard to forgive a challenge which wasn't even particularly bad. I think the reaction of people on here is harsh, players make rash challenges, it's part of the game. I can't remember Wellens getting this amount of stick when he was sent off earlier on this season. Just because we only have two games to go, and not over a quarter of the season left, does not make this any worse than that. So why the negativity? Chill out people we're in the play-offs. And i also am a c u n t, because i clapped him aswell
maddog Posted 19 April 2010 Posted 19 April 2010 Wouldn't have wanted Howard playing in our playoff 1st leg semi-final anyway if we're there. It will be a crucial game, one which we could do with winning by a couple of goals to take us into the away leg, yes Howard has played well for a bit but his performances over the entire season certainly don't merit a place in the starting line up for a playoff semi final. He's been crap and past it until recently. Hopefully Fryatt will be back to take a place on the bench for that 1st leg. But he shouldn't be put straight back in the team because we have played brilliantly without him. Vaughan and Waggy are the guys.
