Phube Posted 27 June 2010 Author Posted 27 June 2010 Have they arrived in SA yet? No, but when we do the World Cup is ours!!
Edmund Posted 27 June 2010 Posted 27 June 2010 There's many factors in my opinion to the decline of English football at this moment in time. -Lack of technical ability -Grassroots and youth development needs a serious overhaul -Top teams nurturing foreign talent over homegrown -Teams buying foreign talent over homegrown -Players believing their own hype -The Press -Spoonfed players who would turn their noses up to wiping their own arses -A manager who can hardly speak English -Lack of passion and raw emotion -Lack of team spirit The list goes on.....
Phube Posted 27 June 2010 Author Posted 27 June 2010 It seems the BBC pundits are squarely laying the blame at Capello... Not their darlings; Rooney, Gerrard, Terry, Cole and Lampard... Imagine playing Rooney up on his own in this tournament, he wouldn't have got a touch...
The Doctor Posted 27 June 2010 Posted 27 June 2010 Overall you've been screwed over by the quality of the english league system. As the quality has increased the money has come pouring in, the fans demand instant success and so the clubs pay through the nose for the best players from abroad rather than looking into the lower divisions and youth systems meaning minimal talent emerges and what does doesn't get a chance to prove itself and the national team ends up paying the price for the demand for instantaneous success by the fans.
purpleronnie Posted 27 June 2010 Posted 27 June 2010 I would like to think it will be a reality check but it wont be. We've still got the best players in the world blah blah blah.
orangecity23 Posted 27 June 2010 Posted 27 June 2010 The lack of movement from England is always a bugbear of mine. How many times do you see England players walking when they don't have the ball? No one seems willing to make a run into space or offer any kind of option to the player on the ball. Which in turn leads to hoofing or dallying in possesion and losing the ball.

purpleronnie Posted 27 June 2010 Posted 27 June 2010 I think will win euro 2012!!! Especially if rooney stays fit and we wear our red strip.
Narborough_fox Posted 27 June 2010 Posted 27 June 2010 I think will win euro 2012!!! Especially if rooney stays fit and we wear our red strip. And Heskey plays with him, Lampard and Gerrard have to play as well.
buzzy Posted 27 June 2010 Posted 27 June 2010 so it has to be capello's fault . why don't you realise that these bunch of players cannot play together. to many egos in one team is not good.where are the muppets who said germany are s**t on the england slovenia post .you fools never right the germans of they are far better than use.and all england fans who want capeelo out SHUT UP he is the best manager we have had since bobby robson Ps im english
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 27 June 2010 Posted 27 June 2010 The whole team and setup needs a good shake up. The majority of that squad should never play for England again, otherwise we will become like Italy of this tournament play an old team and just struggle and go out even earlier.
Dames Posted 27 June 2010 Posted 27 June 2010 The lack of movement from England is always a bugbear of mine. How many times do you see England players walking when they don't have the ball? No one seems willing to make a run into space or offer any kind of option to the player on the ball. Which in turn leads to hoofing or dallying in possesion and losing the ball. Its because from a very young age players are encouraged to pass backwards and sidewards and 'play it safe' any kind of individualism or flair gets stamped out. The English way of football is outdated we play in fear of losing instead of playing to win this is the main cause of many of the problems in modern football i mean how many times to do you see Sunday league managers at all levels going absolutely mad at a player because he tried something that didn't come off well instead of taking the safe option. This mindset gets embedded in all players from such a young age it just becomes natural. Another problem is the English like to have players that can play EVERYWHERE. Jack of all trades master of none, players need to be encouraged from a young ages to play in 1 position and refuse to play anywhere else unless absolutely necessary but sadly players get shunted around positions relentlessly, sometimes it works but 90% of the time it really doesn't. This is the reason why many managers go for foreign players because they do play without fear and they've been encouraged to play football the right way, its about enjoying yourself and playing well to win and not about sticking 10 men behind the ball and lumping it up to some oaf trying your absolute best to avoid defeat. Avoiding defeat and playing it safe isn't good enough for modern football anymore. And really, the only reason the premiership is played at '100mph' is because most of the time the ball is just pinged across the pitch route one non stop.

surrifox Posted 27 June 2010 Posted 27 June 2010 this hubristic outcome seems inevitable given the hype leading up to this game. I have been abroad all week but able to watch the coverage of the tournament and have been amazed to see the build up to the game back in the UK ; even well respected commentators on the game seem to have bought in to the idea that we were favourites and were talking about a 2 or 3 goal win by england. All the evidence of our own eyes tells us that this england side have been totally shite in the competition (marginally less shite against Slovenia but shite nevertheless) how could we think otherwise?
Daggers Posted 27 June 2010 Posted 27 June 2010 Out of respect to those currently hurting I'll save my comments about this group of players, their manager, the tactics, the squad selection, the Premiership and the English FA.
purpleronnie Posted 27 June 2010 Posted 27 June 2010 Have to say there seems to be a lot of very realsitic and sensible reasons why we are so poor. But why cant the powers that be see it too? Do you think they give a shit? Or just simply happy to milk the premiership cow?

AyewJoking Posted 27 June 2010 Posted 27 June 2010 Only explanation is the players dont give a fuk. Totally oblivious as to what the game means to the avergage man.
