End of September Poll

197 members have voted

  1. 1. Should Paulo Sousa now be sacked ?

    • Yes - right now !
    • Perhaps - give him 1 or 2 matches to prove otherwise
    • Not Yet - give him until Christmas, then see where we are
    • No - he is a good manager and worth sticking with, at least until the end of the season

After losing 6 - 1 to the bottom club in the Championship (who previously hadn't won a League match), I thought it necessary to hold another 'Sousa Out' Poll - a month after the last one - to gauge what supporters think of him now. The last Poll suggested that we should give him a longer chance to prove himself / he should have more time, I think he's had that - what do others feel ?

Give him another game or two. Can't see us beating Norwich though.

With Sousa in charge will get beat at Norwich and possibly scrape a point at home to Scunny, but there are two then weeks then before the next quickfire run of games. I think we need to use that break to cut out the stench that's running through the club, so getting rid of Sousa now would be the best time - we're not going to get many points before the break so let's give ourselves a change of lining up a manager to come in with a fortnight to sort this bloody awful mess out.

what makes me laugh is our secondish team can beat the same team Pompey played yesterday, but our first team cant get that team. should sousa, if he is still here, play a team he would play in the carling cup? we have played 2 championship teams in the cc, and won both... put 1&1 together...

For me he's been given a chance to wanting him out to having a lot of work to do to change my mind, Even he's still in charge on Tuesday and we win there will still be a long way back before he's off the firing line.

we played awful yesterday we really did, i mean 6-1 to bottom of the league before we played them.

sousa needs time, we have played i think its 8 games and won 1, not very good really but we havent played really bad i dont think apart from yesterday,

give him till the end of the season and see if he can sort it out.

I don't think he's 'got it' - in fact I think he's pretty clueless as regards team selection and the need to change tactics during a game to deal with the opposition's play. I think he 'sticks' with players who don't warrant selection and has his favourites, who get in no matter how they play (Howard & Oakley). He drops other players, often for no apparent reason (Hobbs). He picks players for no apparent reason (Ikeme & Lamey). He constantly 'chops and changes' (Neilson / Morrison / Wellens / Fryatt in, Neilson / Morrison / Wellens / Fryatt out, Neilson / Morrison / Wellens / Fryatt in, Wellens / Fryatt out). He continues to play players 'out of (their best) position' (Waghorn). I think his 'buying policy has been atrocious (including paying £2m+ for Waghorn - who's a good player, but not - yet - worth that much) - particularly spending money on foreign players who have no knowledge of English football (Moreno and others - although some could be decent - eg Abe & Vitor) and often don't even have much experience of good quality foreign football (Lamey & Crncic). Most importantly, I think he is 'losing the dressing room' and has obviously seriously p****d off a number of key established players (Wellens & Fryatt - and now possibly Hobbs), for whom leaving is only a matter of time. He really has to go, before it's too late.

leaving Hobbs on the bench, Waghorn on the bloody wing, taking Dyer off (who looked like our only decent player), starting AGAIN with Howard up top flicking his headers onto either no one or him self to chase........

SHIT TACTICS AGAIN PAOLO, YOU HAVE TO GO SON!!!!

Was willing to give him at least league10 games to prove he was the man for the job.

However unlike under MON we saw gradual improvement in the team until things finally clicked into place, with Sousa we seem to be going backwards, the team are performing worse every week.

I see NO signs of improvement.

On that note I have to say he has to go and the sooner the better.

Oh..........hope he takes MM with him.

The thing that did it for me was last night, when Hobbs was coming on and he could'nt understand what Sousa was on about.........he had to ask twice and that just about sums it up for me go now please for the sake of our club

I was all for giving Sousa plenty of time but from what i have seen there is no progress, defensively we are still terrible, our strikers still can not score.

We can play at times pretty passing football in the middle of the pitch but thats it.

Sousa does not seem to know what his first team is and we are nearly into October :dunno:

Three games. I don't see us getting a good result at Norwich, the two home matches after are significant. Six points and we might be on the road to recovery, four wouldn't be a disaster, failure to win either and it's time to make a decision.

Yeah, I'll go with you on that one.

The problem with giving him 3 games is that we have a juicy looking international break coming up after Scunny at home...

Completely agree with you BR. I don't think I've ever known a City manager so clueless as Sousa and I've been following them since 1969.

I say if he doesn't win either of the next 2 games he has to go. But even if he did I still wouldn't have any faith in him.

He is clueless and a pussy

i kind of want him to stay and get it right.

but nothing this season has really showed me that we are capable of playing consistent good football.

I almost feel like he doesn't know his best team and he seems to love the whole "lump it up to Howard by himself so he can flick it onto no one and we can give the ball away" style of play....

might write him a fooking letter.

my question why has it took this 6-1 to make people see the light? the warning signs were there half a dozen games ago.

Why? maybe because we have played some good football and been the better side for most of our time on the pitch so far this season. inconsistencies, mistakes, dubious refereeing and poor poor results aside. it was hard not to be encouraged by the brave approach PS was trying to introduce. 6-1 was a total embarrassment and most of the team should be/probably are ashamed with their performance.

still, points wise (obviously not GD wise), it was the same as losing 1-0 away from home. I am confident we will start racking up the points soon, because we bloody well deserve more than we've got so far. This hammering could well be the players motivation.

either that or this season is going to be UNBEARABLY DEPRESSING.
