unreachable Posted 29 September 2010 Posted 29 September 2010 http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-1316335/Leicester-set-seal-Fulham-defender-Liam-Rosenior.html Leicester City will today sign free agent Liam Rosenior in a bid to solve their defensive problems. The former Fulham right back, 24, has been without a club since his contract at Reading ran out in June. City manager Paulo Sousa is desperate to shore up a defence that has conceded ten goals in the last two games. And he believes the former England Under-21 star will add some pace to his backline. Sousa, who is under pressure following his side's slump to the foot of the Championship, said: 'We need to keep working hard, especially on keeping clean sheets. 'This is not an easy moment, I know that, but I have spoken to the new owners and I think the best way to turn this around is to stick together and be strong.'
Guest DavidJCW Posted 29 September 2010 Posted 29 September 2010 Shrieks of a desperate signing by a desperate man trying to save his job... Don't know much about Rosenior, but it's not our players that are at fault for this barrage of goals we're conceding, it's got to be Sousa's tactics.
m00nie Posted 29 September 2010 Posted 29 September 2010 cant see this being true as its a right back?? would have thouight CB was more the priority..
lcfcsnow Posted 29 September 2010 Posted 29 September 2010 Shrieks of a desperate signing by a desperate man trying to save his job... ? Rosenior is a good player, it might be too late to save his job but this will give us a good option at right back for the first time this season. His fitness is going to be an issue though not having a club since last season. <_<
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 29 September 2010 Posted 29 September 2010 If Liam fcking Rosenior is the answer to our problems, Sousa is more of a goon than I thought.
Kitchandro Posted 29 September 2010 Posted 29 September 2010 cant see this being true as its a right back?? would have thouight CB was more the priority.. Agreed. Desperate for a centre back whereas Morrison can play right back much better than the other 2 muppets we've got there
hackneyfox Posted 29 September 2010 Posted 29 September 2010 Not at the moment he couldn't, his confidence is shot. And he isn't a long term answer to right back. Hopefully he isn't long term fullstop
unreachable Posted 29 September 2010 Author Posted 29 September 2010 If Liam fcking Rosenior is the answer to our problems, Sousa is more of a goon than I thought. Has Sousa said that? It may improve our defence. At least he has more experience of the Championship than Lamey.
StanSP Posted 29 September 2010 Posted 29 September 2010 Has Sousa said that? It may improve our defence. At least he has more experience of the Championship than Lamey. Sousa doesn't need to actually say it. It's clear how desperate he is becoming.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 29 September 2010 Posted 29 September 2010 He has more experience of being gash in the Championship than Lamey. Never rated him, hopefully he'll make me look a tart.
Ozwin Posted 29 September 2010 Posted 29 September 2010 Everytime I've seen him play he's always chasing the winger who's just passed him. He's crap, another Lamey taking up space on the wage bill.
unreachable Posted 29 September 2010 Author Posted 29 September 2010 Sousa doesn't need to actually say it. It's clear how desperate he is becoming. My point was that Sousa didn't say that Rosenior was the answer to our problems. No one player can be. Just seems pointless putting words into Sousa's mouth.
ajthefox Posted 30 September 2010 Posted 30 September 2010 Great!! Just what we needed!! Another face in a position which isn't top priority added to an already calamitous defence, with no regular back 4, no chemistry and zero confidence. Great move Paulo. I'm a patient fan and still have faith somewhere in me that things will turn around if given the chance, but this move just seems pointless and as it has already been said smells strongly of a desperate man. The problem with our team is down to management, not personnel.
Kitchandro Posted 30 September 2010 Posted 30 September 2010 Not at the moment he couldn't, his confidence is shot. And he isn't a long term answer to right back. Hopefully he isn't long term fullstop Confidence is shot now yes, but he performed at right back last season
J.Lisemore Posted 30 September 2010 Posted 30 September 2010 Seems a bit of a desperate signing but i think hes better than what we've got. If he signs Rosenior, then signing Lamey was a mistake really, Nielson at the minute is decent enough back up.
Babylon Posted 30 September 2010 Posted 30 September 2010 Don't know much about Rosenior, but it's not our players that are at fault for this barrage of goals we're conceding, it's got to be Sousa's tactics. Oh come on ,how can you say the players are without fault, you can't pin the blame for individual errors on him like the ones Morrison has been making.
Cropwellfox Posted 30 September 2010 Posted 30 September 2010 If it's a case of looking at getting free agents in, Dan Shittu or Jay DeMerit please. Surely he cannot be prioritising a RB over an experienced centre half?
bettso Posted 30 September 2010 Posted 30 September 2010 This was supposed to happen after the Sunderland friendly. If I remember rightly, Liam Rosenior was at the game talking to fans outside the stadium?? Personally I dont think it's a bad signing. He's definitely better than Lamey and whilst Nielson has had a couple of good games, I still expect him to revert back to the good old Robbie we know and hate.
Wycombe Fox Posted 30 September 2010 Posted 30 September 2010 This managerial reign is starting to remind me of Frank McLintock's spell as manager and his desperation signings.
hackneyfox Posted 30 September 2010 Posted 30 September 2010 Confidence is shot now yes, but he performed at right back last season Not paricularly well he didn't. He's adequate at best.
MrSpaM Posted 30 September 2010 Posted 30 September 2010 If he signs Rosenior, then signing Lamey was a mistake really, Nielson at the minute is decent enough back up. At the moment Nielsons name should be the first name out the bag. In terms of noticable contributions on match day, and taking into consideration the howlers the rest of our defence has had, Nielsons been our best defender. I can't believe i've just said that... but it's true
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 30 September 2010 Posted 30 September 2010 Could be a good signing but I'm not sure how needed he is, he's not exactly the experienced leader at the back we need.
davieG Posted 30 September 2010 Posted 30 September 2010 Any signing he makes in our situation will seem like desperation because it will only be desperate players that are eligible or will want to come. It's hardly appropriate to sign some Premier Academy player and most experienced players that might improve us probably wouldn't fancy it.
Callabinho Posted 30 September 2010 Posted 30 September 2010 Shrieks of a desperate signing by a desperate man trying to save his job... Don't know much about Rosenior, but it's not our players that are at fault for this barrage of goals we're conceding, it's got to be Sousa's tactics. So its sousa's fault Morrison couldn't judge a bouncing ball against palace, or got turned inside out by Makie? Sousa's fault that Morrison thinks he is a goalkeeper, or is Incapable of passing a ball instead lets Kitson take it off his toe? I think the defence are an absolute shamble's i mean conceding 4 against Norwich and Six against Pompey is the defences fault, i take back my views of Hobbs being one of the best defenders in the league, he is looking really poor at the moment i've seen him have two good games against Boro and Cardiff, people ringing in and saying should have started Hobbs from the start against Pompey? Didn't he come on at 2-0? and it ended up 6-1? The defence needs to be sured up big time, Get Walshy and Matty Elliot to show them how its done!
