davieG Posted 30 September 2010 Posted 30 September 2010 From OS Club Announces Historic Tour Posted on: Thu 30 Sep 2010Leicester City has today announced that the club will embark upon a landmark tour of Thailand during the forthcoming international break. On Monday the first team squad, management and staff representatives will fly to Bangkok, returning to the UK on Sunday October 10th. During the week-long tour, the first team will play the Thailand national side, managed by Manchester United and England legend, Bryan Robson, at the Suphachalasai Stadium on Saturday October 9th, at 6pm local time. The stadium has a capacity of 26,000. To allay any potential fears that the squad will suffer from jet lag or general tiredness, the club's sports science and medical departments have assembled a training programme that will enhance rapid recovery for the players. The Leicester City players and management team will look forward to an extensive itinerary during the tour, as part of the commitment to the new owners. After a difficult start to the season for the club, this trip will provide an opportunity for the players to refocus and to work together productively, away from their usual environment, helping the club to progress both in the short and longer term. Leicester City Captain, Matt Oakley, said: "As a club we are clearly expanding and developing. After a successful season last year, we need to continue building and evolving for the future of this club." He added: "This game will represent a great challenge for us and will offer the team the chance to witness first-hand another style of football, which will be a positive part of our learning process. The players and management staff are motivated by this unique opportunity." This milestone tour has been made possible by the Asia Investments Group, as part of their investment in the club's growth and expansion, in their role as owners of Leicester City. Club owner, Aiyawatt Raksriaksorn, said: "This is a very proud moment for myself, but more importantly for the club. We are delighted to have been able to arrange this historic tour for the club." He added: "We are very grateful to the Thailand national team for agreeing to play this friendly match against us and we look forward to furthering our club's name across the Far East." Aside from the historic friendly match, the visit will enable the club to explore marketing and commercial opportunities whilst in the Far East, developing the club's growing global reputation within the football industry. The players and management staff will also take part in a series of PR exercises, including press conferences and community and educational engagements. The friendly against the Thailand national team will be broadcast live on national television in Thailand, meaning the club will be visible to a wider potential audience. Club Chief Executive, Lee Hoos, said: "The announcement of this one week tour of Thailand illustrates just how much the club has evolved in a short space of time." He added: "The match against the Thailand national team and the other associated media and marketing activities will further develop the proud name of Leicester City Football Club, whilst providing the opportunity to expand the club's brand." LCFC.COM will provide updated coverage from Thailand throughout the trip, including content from the press conferences, insight from the players and a live report from the Foxes' showpiece friendly against Thailand. The club also plans further announcements in due course, ensuring that Leicester City supporters are kept up-to-date prior to and during the tour.

Corky Posted 30 September 2010 Posted 30 September 2010 Leicester City Captain, Matt Oakley, said: "As a club we are clearly expanding and developing. After a successful season last year, we need to continue building and evolving for the future of this club." In what division though Matt?
MC Prussian Posted 30 September 2010 Posted 30 September 2010 Not looking forward to the Hull game now...
Ric Flair Posted 30 September 2010 Posted 30 September 2010 I wish this was being played over Xmas and New Year as i'm in Thailand for a month then. My biggest concern about all of this is will it put the mockers on sacking Sousa? I mean, it'll be a logistical nightmare to relieve him of his duties out there, so we're stuck with the coont.
Basingstoke Fox Posted 30 September 2010 Posted 30 September 2010 Arrrgghhhhh. I wish things were just how the were last season.
Guest Bilo Posted 30 September 2010 Posted 30 September 2010 Our club is run by massive bellends. End of story. Pack of jebends.

Wymsey Posted 30 September 2010 Posted 30 September 2010 Don't let Wellens or Waghorn loose in Thailand
breadandcheese Posted 30 September 2010 Posted 30 September 2010 Our club is run by massive bellends. End of story. Pack of jebends. It isn't half demoralising.
Salieri Posted 30 September 2010 Posted 30 September 2010 "The match against the Thailand national team and the other associated media and marketing activities will further develop the proud name of Leicester City Football Club, whilst providing the opportunity to expand the club's brand."
FOXMAN2 Posted 30 September 2010 Posted 30 September 2010 How can they jet off on their JOLLIES when the club is in the worse state for years? I would have thought they could have used the break and spent a bit more time learning how to play football and score goals without letting them in at their end. PLAY THE PLAYERS IN THEIR BEST POSITIONS ,AND PLEASE WAGGIE IN THE MIDDLE THATS WHAT HE WAS BOUGHT FOR.
wurmer Posted 30 September 2010 Posted 30 September 2010 As if things weren't embarrassing enough, now this. Sending a struggling team half way round the world to play a pointless friendly. Do you think the Thais will be so interested when we are in L1? Or when then look us up and see we are the bottom of our league - which isn't even the PL, which is where the "other famous"'clubs like Man U, Liverpool and Arsenal play. This club is a joke at the moment.
Cropwellfox Posted 30 September 2010 Posted 30 September 2010 He (Oakley) added: "This game will represent a great challenge for us and will offer the team the chance to witness first-hand another style of football, which will be a positive part of our learning process. The players and management staff are motivated by this unique opportunity." ...I've never seen a better example of 'putting words in someone else's mouth' in my life....... I wonder how many of those words Oakley actually said? ......maybe "This game will represent a great challenge for us and will offer the team the chance to witness first-hand another style of football, which will be a positive part of our learning process. The players and management staff are motivated by this unique opportunity."

Guest BlueBrett Posted 30 September 2010 Posted 30 September 2010 I would absolutely love to go on a 'tour' of thailand with the Leicester boys! Just hope they all remember to stay safe. Who knows, a bit of R&R might do them some good.
MrSpaM Posted 30 September 2010 Posted 30 September 2010 = Maccy D's all round as soon as their arses touch back down in the country. The KFC's over their are spot on You can have the Zinger coating on the regular chicken
Jackirius Posted 30 September 2010 Posted 30 September 2010 I just have this feeling that it will be another La Manga.
Johnny Rocker Posted 30 September 2010 Posted 30 September 2010 So its Quite clear that if we lose on Saturday or even Draw Sousa will be the manger for the forsesble future . Maybe I'm wrong but I think this takeover could be bad news , the new owners in my view just using. Leicester as there move into the European Money market . Milan said he wouldn only sell to someone who had the clubs best interests , whatever . Also I think the signing of Waghorn was a signing for the fans , before the club brings in Thais , Japs , and Chinese players . I have never heard an interview with sousa saying how pleased we is with Waggy Signing . He doesn't know his best position (the fans do) for him . Bleak times maybe ???
DJ Barry Hammond Posted 30 September 2010 Posted 30 September 2010 My thoughts are: This is another Le Manga waiting to happen It didn't mentioned sucky, sucky five dollar I imagine we will end up bringing half of the Thailand National team with us as new signings Oh fook - could this mean Bryan Robson gets handed the vacant managers job (assuming it becomes vacant!)
