breadandcheese Posted 22 October 2010 Posted 22 October 2010 I personally think United should have cashed in on him for some world record transfer fee. I can understand the need for hardball negotiating, but telling the club you want to leave and releasing a statement to this affect goes over and above in my book. It turns the club into a farce. Rooney needs fergie more than fergie needs him. If Rooney had moved to Man City for the money, I think his career would go downhill. Rooney is not in the same bracket as Messi or Ronaldo, as much as he would like to think he is the equal of them.
Samilktray Posted 22 October 2010 Posted 22 October 2010 Yanited proving why they're the biggest club in the world
Trav Le Bleu Posted 22 October 2010 Posted 22 October 2010 MSN Video of Holloway Rant about "Bully" Rooney. Love Ollie's rant - I can almost forgive him now.
Babylon Posted 22 October 2010 Posted 22 October 2010 Yanited proving why they're the biggest club in the world Biggest maybe, but they won't even be the best team in Manchester in a few years.

All he's proved know is that he is loyal only to the wage packet rather than the club, something that will be thrown in his face by the MUFC fans every time he hits a bad patch of form, rightly so in my opinion. They could very easily have shifted him on for £50m+ to Real or Man City and used that transfer money to buy another player, probably with change. As happy as I'm sure many MU fans are now, I can see them living to regret caving in to Rooney's demands.
Dickie Greenleaf Posted 22 October 2010 Posted 22 October 2010 They would never have got £50 for a player with only 18 months remaining on a contract
Wymsey Posted 22 October 2010 Posted 22 October 2010 There's only one word to describe this = strange
Finnegan Posted 22 October 2010 Posted 22 October 2010 There's only one word to describe this = strange Yeah man I know what you mean. I can't remember the last time I saw a footballer act out of greed.
Koke Posted 22 October 2010 Posted 22 October 2010 Kaka was sold 6 months after he pulled a similar stunt. So don't be surprised if you see Rooney being sold in January or June.
Dickie Greenleaf Posted 22 October 2010 Posted 22 October 2010 Classic Gerrard-esuqe bottle job. A lot of people in the game were convinced the arrangement had already been made personally with citeh. You dont make a statement like his initial one without having something lined up. He's basically just realised over the last few days though how radically altered his daily life would be by the move for certianly the short-term future and bailed out.
Leicester_Loyal Posted 22 October 2010 Posted 22 October 2010 I hate the fook ugly piece of shit who shags old grannies. If he never pulls on the England shirt again I'd be happy.
Mee Posted 22 October 2010 Posted 22 October 2010 Shocker, will most likely cause some upset in the camp. With all what has been said with Evra and now thing, it's just time until something kicks off. Do you guys think the fans will forgive him?
The Doctor Posted 22 October 2010 Posted 22 October 2010 greedy twat. You were already on more in a week than what most people earn in a year, be happy with that.
Wymsey Posted 22 October 2010 Posted 22 October 2010 Anyone know how much his new contract is now worth for him?
Koke Posted 22 October 2010 Posted 22 October 2010 greedy twat. You were already on more in a week than what most people earn in a year, be happy with that. That's a very poor simplistic view.
Ford Super Sunday Posted 22 October 2010 Posted 22 October 2010 greedy twat. You were already on more in a week than what most people earn in a year, be happy with that. You could turn that around and say he is the player who, certainly last year anyway, earnt Manchester United FC the most in both prize money and commercial/merchendise sales last season. If someone is earning their employer millions of pounds in revenue, he's hardly going to be on minnimum wage.
lildave3 Posted 22 October 2010 Posted 22 October 2010 Tbh, i'm not surprised. Disappointed he didn't leave but not surprised. Although I wonder if he's just agreed to sign this deal on the basis that he'll be sold in the summer for a lot more than he would have been. I doubt it, but it might be a possibility.
BoneDog Posted 22 October 2010 Posted 22 October 2010 greedy twat. You were already on more in a week than what most people earn in a year, be happy with that. He was already on more a week than most people earn in 5 years let alone 1 year. So in 8 weeks he earned what most of us will earn in a whole lifetime of hard slog and graft ! How anyone can be a mardy barstad in that position is beyond me.
Koke Posted 22 October 2010 Posted 22 October 2010 You could turn that around and say he is the player who, certainly last year anyway, earnt Manchester United FC the most in both prize money and commercial/merchendise sales last season. If someone is earning their employer millions of pounds in revenue, he's hardly going to be on minnimum wage. Concur. I hate all this "footballers are overpaid" nonsense. They are not overpaid. They deserve every penny they get. Wayne Rooney generates a hell of a lot of money for Manchester United FC [shirt sales, merchandises, sponsorships, titles, trophies etc]. He is contributing massively to the huge revenue of income that Manchester United FC receives. So he is entitled to demand a big cut out of that. The only thing Rooney can be criticised for is how he has handled this whole thing [with his agent Paul Stretford[ - but you can't criticise him for wanting a bigger contract.
BoneDog Posted 22 October 2010 Posted 22 October 2010 That's a very poor simplistic view. He has the right to try and get what he thinks he's worth out of the club but what I don't understand is why he didn't just have private negotiations and decided to come out in public and say that he was leaving because of a so called lack of ambition from United. And then a few days later he signs a five year deal. It's a strange one.
Tilley Posted 22 October 2010 Posted 22 October 2010 Just sit back and wait for Patrice Evra to snap him in 2 at the next training session. Wouldn't put it past ol' Patrice. I hate the fook ugly piece of shit who shags old grannies. If he never pulls on the England shirt again I'd be happy.

But I agree, the whole thing was handled very badly by Rooney and Stretfort and Ferguson.
Manwell Pablo Posted 22 October 2010 Author Posted 22 October 2010 This is reeks of a Rooney Ferguson and Gill fix up if you ask me. Some sort of PR stunt to try and take the focus away from his Prossie nailing and crap form if you ask me whilst quite possibly to get some money out of the owners as well Did find it strange Man u were washing their dirty laundry in public.

I reckon you might be right Dave. He's signed having agreed that he'll be sold anyway, while helping the club out by ensuring that they make extra millions on the higher transfer fee that will come. And Rooney has made a hefty fee for re-signing and will recieve another hefty signing on fee for his new club in the summer. The owners of Man Utd, and Wayne, are all winners.
