Rooney is off to sign a 5 year deal with Man Utd

Has anyone noticed how this has all come about since a former England Manager, who clearly had a good relationship with the then prodigal son of England, became employed again at a certain club? Do we dare to beleive that are Thai owners could have the cash to stump up a £25 million transfer fee, £200,000+ a week and would be able to pull of the biggest coup ever? This maybe the tequila talking, but I for one believe Rooney will be a foxes shirt come February! :scarf:

In any case, I consider this to be a very bad timing on behalf of Rooney to make it public.

Could potentially unsettle Manchester United ahead of tonight's Champions League game - and beyond that.

Should've kept his trap shut and waited until January.

Ferguson says he's not starting Rooney because he's carrying an injury.

Rooney is asked about this and says he's not injured.

Tabloid breaks the news on Sunday that he wants to leave.

Ferguson confirms it today.

He's not exactly been prancing around saying he wants to leave, especially when you consider that reports say he told the club he didn't want to sign a new contract on 14th August it seems he's actually done a good job of keeping quiet.

I can see Man Utd putting in a cheeky bid (I don't know what a 'cheeky' one is, just thought I'd use the cliché) for Aguero, depending on how much they sell Rooney for if he goes in January.

I'd love it if Aguero came to the Premier League. Would tear some teams apart.

They'll be after one of Torres, Benzema or Suarez.

Doubt they can afford any of those. Carlos Queroz is probably having a quick look round the homeless shelters in Lisbon again though.

'Squeaky-bum time' has now been redefined as Paul Stretford taking Wayne Rooney up the arse.

Good luck to him, as it's a free market. But I don't believe all this 'lack of ambition' stuff - although it would be ironic if he became a flag-bearer for the anti-Glazer mob.

I'd like to think SAF and Rooney are playing a hilarious practical joke on Garry Cook in some weird re-enactment of Kakagate, but more likely Citeh have tapped him up for about 1m a week or something stupid - he should go as everyone wins in that transfer.

....until two years down the line when he's pushing 14 stone and has become Ronaldo Mk II.

If rooney goes - (which is looking pretty much a dead certain now) - I reckon this will be the beginning of the end of Man U's dominance

Ferguson has very little money to spend, they're selling their best players, replacing them with lower quality and younger players, they're increasingly unable to attract the "big" players

Ferguson only has 3-4 years left in the job max - so i think it's all downhill from here.

Don't get me wrong - virtually none of it has been ferguson's fault and also they're still a HUGE club it will take a while for a complete fall from grace but it will happen.

Give it ten years and history will repeat itself...

Rooney is too thick to learn Spanish, and I don't think he's the type of person who is able to integrate into another culture and people.

Fair play to Ferguson. He played a big PR blinder by laying it all on the table, instead of the usual cloak and dagger stuff. Also, important that he mentioned that the door is still open for Rooney.

I cite the example of Tevez. He speaks no English, yet has succesfully played for 3 Prem clubs now. If the paycheck is big enough you don't need to integrate, only be effective in the team and have a bearable life outside. If you are comparing that with a paparrazzi hell he appears to be getting upset about, so quiet time in Madrid probably sounds awesome. Not like he can't fly home for the day if he feels like it.

Won't these new 'Financial Fair Play (?)' rules prevent Man City paying him a ridiculous amount a week though?

Well it would certainly make it more difficult for them to juggle it, but I imagine they would find a way around it.

While Ferguson is there, they will not drop out of the top 4.

Fact.

Don't but into that. They have too many players leaving or retiring and don't have the means to replace them. Ferguson is a genius but he isn't a wizard! At the moment they have maybe the third best squad in the league. The attacking talent at Tottenham and Arsenal matches up well but both lack strength in defense. United without Rooney, Scholes, Giggs, Ferdinand, Hargreaves, Van Der Sar is distinctly average. If these players go while Fergie is still there it isn't beyond the realms of possibility.

From SSN lol

Former Liverpool and England striker Robbie Fowler has light-heartedly claimed that Wayne Rooney is thinking over the possibility of joining him at Perth Glory.

Rooney has confirmed that he wants to leave Manchester United after questioning the club's ambition and as a result he has been linked with Manchester City, Chelsea, Real Madrid and Barcelona.

But Fowler has revealed that he recently chatted with ex-Everton star Rooney and, with tongue-in-cheek, he thinks that the England striker could be tempted by a move to Australia.

Fowler said on the Glory's official website: "Everyone knows I went home (and) it's probably only just come out lately about Wayne Rooney, but being in the football know, I found out a couple of weeks ago (that he wanted to leave Manchester United).

"I just had to come home and see if he'd be interested in coming to Perth.

"The signs were good. I was really pleased with the chat we had and we'll see where it takes us.

Umming and ahhing

"I sold it to him and told him what a lovely place it is.

"I told him what I think about the city and he knows obviously all about a lot of the players.

"He's umming and ahhing at the minute, but it's looking good. He's very, very interested so watch this space."

Perth's deputy chairman, Lui Giuliani, said the idea was not as laughable as some may think.

"Well if, and it's a big 'If', Wayne Rooney was out of contract, and Robbie Fowler could pull some strings we would love to have him at Perth Glory even as a guest," he said.

"If I said four years ago that Robbie Fowler would be playing for Perth Glory, I'm sure many people would have had a laugh."

So Feguson who is openly contemptuous of the press and media , gives interviews under sufferance , bans journalists from Old Trafford for what he perceives as criticism of him and is proud of his chippy hard -done- by public persona is now using the same media to try to paint himself as a tragic victim- hypocrite

This is my views on the whole thing

They don't seem to be many Man Utd fans actually thinking "hang on, maybe Rooney's got a point". Two of their key players this season are Scholes and Giggs, who I doubt will be around next season, Tevez and Ronaldo both moved on (with Rooney looking like it in the near future), Vidic has been linked with leaving a fair bit recently, Ferdinand's falling apart, Ferguson surely hasn't got that many more years in him, the club is massively in debt, and their signings this season were Smalling, Bebe and Hernandez (which, compared to previous signings, isn't that overwhelming). In my opinion, the signs aren't that brilliant.
