Dr The Singh Posted 1 November 2010 Posted 1 November 2010 There are quite a few overly-PC do gooder types on this board. The kind of person who brings up race when no one was even thinking about it, e.g. 'equality and diversity' people. Those 'do gooders' or anyone else can suck my passion sacks, then atleast they will doing some good for me, rather then trying to be sanctamonious!!!!
Koke Posted 1 November 2010 Posted 1 November 2010 Wellens is a one decent game in 3 player, Oakley is one decent game in 5 player, I don't see how promotion can be achieved will either of these two players in the side come the Jan transfer window. Wellens is an OK player. And to be fair to him, written quotes can be interpreted the wrong way if you don't hear the tone of voice used. My sister have met Richie Wellens, and she likes him says he's a very nice guy. inb4thesisterjokes Can we all stop using the 'racist' card for the vaguest of things!! Being a coloured, I get rather annoyed, because fookers think we coloured use and abuse it, yet it's the whiteys that tend to bring the fooking subject up!!!! PS - Wellens maybe a tool, but his point is simple, it's easier for the squad to adjust to local talent then foriegn talent that can't speak english or punjabli!!! I wanted to make that point to, but in a more subtle politically correct way.
AmyLGK Posted 1 November 2010 Author Posted 1 November 2010 It's irrelevant what you think of Wellens - your first post, the thread subject, will bring all the Wellens haters out of the woodwork, many of which will accuse him of racism. The point is you implied that there was a hint of racism when you said 'I just hope Wellens isn't another Wayne Brown in disguise!!'. I think you know what your article implies so don't make out the idea of racism never entered your head Right - fair point about the Wayne Brown comment - it was more a throw away remark rather than making a point! I hadn't intended to play the racism card at all! Apologies! Maybe a moderator can remove the topic??

Dr The Singh Posted 1 November 2010 Posted 1 November 2010 Right - fair point about the Wayne Brown comment - it was more a throw away remark rather than making a point! I hadn't intended to play the racism card at all! Apologies! Maybe a moderator can remove the topic?? No need to remove topic, I still love ya babes, and let's be clear from the begginning, those whitey remarks are not racist, they reflect the indiginious population's colour!!!!

Well the last thing I'd want to do is offend anyone - or start a mass debate about racism!!! I'll go and sit in the corner for a bit now and think about what I've done....

Roy Cropper Posted 1 November 2010 Posted 1 November 2010 Vitor is a defender, Wellens is a midfielder. And if you read it, I stated that Wellens 'is like' Makelele. Thats not comparing. Er, yes it is.
Kitchandro Posted 1 November 2010 Posted 1 November 2010 Er, yes it is. I think he means style of play, not ability
OzFox Posted 1 November 2010 Posted 1 November 2010 This thread = Don't get your drift. There's an undeniable link between Richie Wellens comments, cheese and chihuahuas. It's clear for all to see.
Fox92 Posted 1 November 2010 Posted 1 November 2010 Er, yes it is. I meant style of play. I think he means style of play, not ability Yes I did, thank you.
cc_star Posted 1 November 2010 Posted 1 November 2010 To sum up there is noting racist that Wellens said, and a sizeable amount of people who commented in this post are fools. Anyone who talks about his scoring record is an idiot as he plays as the more withdrawn of the centre-midfielders... do you think King would score as many as he had if he was the one mopping up and then laying the ball off, no! Wellens is pretty damn good, the team hasn't been playing as a team all that well this season which is why people are picking fault in perfectly good players. Grow up twats, and support your team and maybe they'll start playing as one, so the good players can shine.

King scored a fair few last year when Pearson used him almost all the time as an out and out defensive midfielder .

He just has a knack for getting himself in to goalscoring positions and putting them away. Wellens doesn't, but then he doesn't really need to either. He's nothing special though.

Joe. Posted 1 November 2010 Posted 1 November 2010 They're strong words, but I read them earlier and couldn't help but feel how refreshing it is to see a footballer speak his mind without the usual cliche-ridden drivel. We see it so rarely these days it becomes almost alien when good material finally does arrive. They are strong words however, but what he says is generally along the right lines. To get out of this division you need a side who will work hard for each other along with those obvious pieces of quality that every good side needs - isn't that what our successes were based on last season? Possibly a little out of order to pick out Abe alone, but you can't help but agree with him with what he says.
