acooling08 Posted 13 November 2010 Posted 13 November 2010 Dear me it was horribly cringeworthy to have the silence ruined by the fans in the corner, disgusting really. So who caused it? Unfortuneatly, we interpreted it as some of our inbred fans thinking after the last post the game would start, but they seemed to blame Derby
Bugg Posted 13 November 2010 Posted 13 November 2010 No one "caused it". It was a bit of a shambles by the club. From K1, I couldn't hear any instructions about the silence.
The Doctor Posted 13 November 2010 Posted 13 November 2010 It was the people who were noisy. your powers of deduction astound me again holmes.
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 13 November 2010 Posted 13 November 2010 I believe it was both L1 and some Derby fans. The same thing happened last season but this was worse. People clearly didnt listen to the instruction, that a minutes silence would follow the Last Post. Then people were telling others to shut up etc, only for both sets of fans to blame each other. EDIT: Though in all honesty, the PA could have made the point a few times more, so there was no confusion.
Mee Posted 13 November 2010 Posted 13 November 2010 When the silence was about to start, some fans, (and players) thought there wasn't one, that's why some chants began. And then after that, from where i was standing (K Block) it sounded like some Derby fans shouted 'Derrrbyy' and then got a reply from the Leicester fans and it all sort of began. Thought it was bad myself. That's only what i thought i heard happened, may not be correct .
Guest Bilo Posted 13 November 2010 Posted 13 November 2010 Nothing to do with the Fosse Boys if that helps. Honestly from our place it was hard to tell but at last season's fixture, but a few people after the game did seem to think it was Derby fans. I'm not passing judgement myself but last season L1 did start singing Ingerlund after the Last Post.
Leicester_Loyal Posted 13 November 2010 Posted 13 November 2010 Was both Leicester + Derby fans. Even I thought about clapping as some people around me and some Derby fans started.
Mike the Metal Ed Posted 13 November 2010 Posted 13 November 2010 I think it's due to the fact that we have the Last Post played before the silence. Dunno why anyone would assume there would be no silence to follow though.
Trav Le Bleu Posted 13 November 2010 Posted 13 November 2010 your powers of deduction astound me again holmes. Elementary my dear Watson
isaidno Posted 13 November 2010 Posted 13 November 2010 some people thought that when the Ref blew his whistle the silence was over , including the players . But that doesn't excuse the Derby fan from making noises half way through the silence . SCUM
Dylan Posted 13 November 2010 Posted 13 November 2010 From Family stand I heard and interpreted instructions properly, but they were very unclear. Many assumed the silence was during the last post, and finish when it ended, which is why everyone was quiet then. Then the ref blew his whistle, and many assumed that was it (the end) when it was actually the start. Even some of the players thought this as they left to get in their positions. Wasn't the fans being pricks, just misunderstanding. Don't think anyone should make a big deal of it.
Jay Posted 13 November 2010 Posted 13 November 2010 When will they finally use the minutes applause instead of silence, it would cut out this sort of nonsense.
Fmfox Posted 13 November 2010 Posted 13 November 2010 i can understand the noise at the beggining due to people misunderstanding the instructions but it was terrible that one leicester fan started baa'ing once everyone was quiet and then the noise from the corner halfway through, there's no excuse for making a noise once everyone knows what is happening.
Webbo Posted 13 November 2010 Posted 13 November 2010 I was about 4/5 seats away from the bloke who started it. I think it was a misunderstanding but the way it carried on was a disgrace. More our fault than theirs I'm afraid.
Father Ted Posted 13 November 2010 Posted 13 November 2010 Both sets of fans starting singing after the last post. Then the Derby fans starting shouting half-way through with one idiot shouting something about Leicester, then another one, then another one and then all the Derby fans started shouting shut up, etc.
davieG Posted 13 November 2010 Posted 13 November 2010 Let's not forget also that several Derby & Leicester players also thought it had finished after the Last Post and broke ranks, now if they got it wrong you can hardly blame a few fans, some of whom had probably just arrived for failing to understand the procedure.
Guest ttfn Posted 13 November 2010 Posted 13 November 2010 When will they finally use the minutes applause instead of silence, it would cut out this sort of nonsense. A minute's applause would be entirely inappropriate for a time of remembrance.
lcfc81 Posted 13 November 2010 Posted 13 November 2010 the club need to simplfy it as the same thing happened last year. I think everyone would observe it if they did the last stand followed by the announcement 'now we are going to have a minutes silence after the refs whistle'.

DB11 Posted 13 November 2010 Posted 13 November 2010 When will they finally use the minutes applause instead of silence, it would cut out this sort of nonsense. That's a ridiculous suggestion for such an occasion.
Bert Posted 13 November 2010 Posted 13 November 2010 It was very hard to hear what Birch was saying in L1, you can never hear him over there. It was our fans that started the singing though. Wasn't done on purpose, a massive misunderstanding between fans and club.
nuttytimmy Posted 13 November 2010 Posted 13 November 2010 Why does the referee not just wait until the end of the silence before blowing his whistle? Last post signals the start, referee's whistle the end. Simple, no?

Wasn't done on purpose, a massive misunderstanding between fans and club. I don't really think that's an excuse. Surely people have had enough remembrance days to know that the minute's silence starts after the Last Post?
Soar Fox Posted 13 November 2010 Posted 13 November 2010 I thought it was a bit of a shambles to be honest. I don't thinhk they should have had the last post playing, as when that finished sone people presumed that was the end even some of the players did also.
