Ric Flair Posted 22 November 2010 Posted 22 November 2010 Looks like Bednar is joining us and not Miller according to todays Mercury. I'm happy with that, a proper centre forward. It still doesn't give us any further pace though that Sven wanted but perhaps there'll be a pacey player coming in as well.

Hopefully we can play 442 saturday with our newest STRIKER Darius actually in his real position. Thing with Sven, even as England manager he would fit his best 11 into the team, no matter where he had to play them. For example, he wanted to play Lamps and Gerrard in the same team but couldn't play them both in the middle of the park so he would push Gerrard out on the left so he could squeeze them both in, rather than dropping one of them.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 22 November 2010 Posted 22 November 2010 Probably a better option than Miller (at the moment) to be honest, much less of a liability with injuries, is fully fit, and can hopefully slot in right away. Got to be good for a few goals, too. Get the feeling that we'd be waiting a while to see the best of Miller with all the bad luck he's had over the past few seasons. More than happy with this. <3

Hmm like we've done with Oakley the past few seasons, I hadn't noticed too many people in favour of players playing out of position just fit them in.

I'm not against playing them out of position per say, its just that we are clearly in dying need of a striker that can score, so we get an ex england international and play him on the wing? I would rather us just buy an out and out right winger than play him there, just to fill the holes.

StanSP Posted 22 November 2010 Posted 22 November 2010 I know Howard's done pretty well this season in terms of playing as many matches as he has done, but bringing Bednar in will mean Howard can have a rest from a few games. This signing (should it go through) gives us more squad depth and Bednar is someone who is proven at this level so I'd be more than happy if he signs!
