20 goals a season

King - assuming his injury isn't too bad.

And I'm being serious too - current crop of strikers too poor to get 17-18 goals in whats left of the season and for 20 goals in what's left of the season, he's gonna have to be one hell of a striker if it's going to be someone we bring in. I suppose Bedner might just be able to.

At the moment only Kingy looks remotely like getting anywhere close to 15, let alone 20.

With possible changes to the strikeforce in January as well.

City strikers in recent times who scored 20 a season are like gold-dust. Two I can think of during my life out of nearly twenty seasons.

Biggest problem we've got is whoever comes is expected to be messiah-like. The the main point of a Premiership side loaning us a player is for them to re-gain a fully fit player...so we're looking at 3 games before there up to pace and then returning to them in January.

I think it's far too unfair on any of the current supposly 'not good enough' lot just to dismiss them. For starters, they are our players. We've lacked a striker with pace for ages, that's been a problem for a while....even for the short time we had the hot and cold Vaughan; he stretched defences with his pace and it was a real asset when we needed that push after a wobble pre-Easter.

2002 / 2003 Paul the pest scored 20 in all competitions.

Prior to that, you have to go back to 95/96 when Iwan Roberts scored 20 in all competitions. then 86/87 when Alan Smith scored 20 in all competitions but the last player to score over 20 (24 actually) purely in league games was a little lad called Gary Lineker two seasons earlier in 84/85.

Compare that with what Foxes fans of yesteryear enjoyed:

Arthur Chandler notched six v Pompey 1928, then five in each of three games v Barnsley 1925, Villa and WBA -both 1926 and four v Newcastle - also 1926.

Johnny Duncan scored six v Port Vale 1924.

There have been 20 occasions when a City player has scored four in the same match, the last time being 15th Nov.1958 when Derek Hines scored four in the 6-3 rout of Villa.. I was there!!!!!

obviously no one will score 20 for us this season. our leading scorer is a midfielder who is out for probably a few weeks, with a good 3rd of the season gone. none of our strikers have scored many and after jan we'll probably be playing loan players. highlights our need for 1 more striker.

Fryatt might have done last season if he was fit the whole time and may have this season had he been picked and in form.

I'd expect King to get around 15

I think we could get 20 between Dyer and Dany which would be a great return. Stick a 20 goal a season man in the middle of them pair and our attack would be lethal.

No-one will I don't think.

King will finish in the high teens and I think eventually either waggy or fryatt will come good and bag about 10/15ish or a new signing/loanee will come in and get about that amount.

Even though King could be half way there already, I don't see him having so much fun infront of goal all season, and for any strker to get 20 from this point on bearing in mind we've only got 28 games left would be monu-fooking-mental.

What makes you think that 2 wingers, who scored 6 league goals between them in a play-off season (one of whom has been deemed good enough by a former england manager to be sent on loan to scunny), can grab 20 with only 2/3 of the season remaining. (I'm a big Lloyd fan btw so nothing against him as a player.)

It's the same with the post about waghorn earlier. You have posted too many times for it to be a wind up so i'm inclined to think you are genuinely deluded. Seriously, what makes it fine for you to call saviour on 2 wingers who clearly arent goalscorers and put down anyone that has any belief in our forwards (despite them not performing, still being our best chance of goals apart from king)?

He has a very sad life. He lives to be a Wum. But like I said he's not funny.

I think if he's going to do it he should stick to 606.

I don't know what it is, but I guess it's still down to confidence.

It says a lot when your best goalscorer's a 20-something Welsh midfielder.lol

It can't be the playing system, because - and I'm regurgitating here - we've got the most chances and the most shots on goal in the entire division.

Whereas some areas have now improved after a sloppy start (defense and midfield in particular), our strikeforce is still in search of its form from last season.

I'd put Waghorn and Fryatt in that category. Or maybe the latter's in a sulking mood ever since he got dropped for Howard and is now acting disinterested?

The inconsistency is what hurts most. Maybe they need mental assistance?

You can't play Howard for 90 minutes all the time, he simply can't cope with it.

Gallagher's been hit-and-miss so far, there have been instances where he was sloppy and lazy, other times when he displayed sheer brilliance.

Doesn't help that he and Vassell are being played on the wings, though.

Wellens has changed his attitude for the better in the past two, three games and provides much more services to the forwards with proper passes.

Still, the strikers don't get enough supplies going forward.

Another pacey winger à la Dyer would provide much-needed attacking threat. That and some goals from corners.

Is it though?

Last season we averaged 1.33 goals per game. Since 1st October we've been averaging 1.44.

Tilley's funny, you're boring.

The difference between Tilley and yourself is that most people generally know Tilley's on the wind-up and if they don't then they soon work it out. You in contrast end up in just as many, if not more, arguments because you seem to take offence and almost everyone's views of our players that don't match up with yours and then rant on for pages spouting indignant, self-righteous prose about how right you are and how biased or overly emotive everyone else is being.

I'd rather the former.

You're not thick, some of what you say makes sense and I do agree with some of it. But you remind me of me at your age - you massively need to lighten up.

All competitions included, we averaged 1.36 goals per game last season - according to my calculations (71 goals in a total of 52 games).

And since the beginning of October, we've scored 14 goals in 10 matches. Equals 1.40 goals a game.

Alright, let's fight over these 0.04!!!lol

I think Kingy will get 20 this year. He's been asked a few times whether or not he has a target in mind and he always says that he does but it's personal and he doesn't want to disclose what it is. It seems reasonable to assume that this private target would be breaking the 20 goal barrier and given the form he has shown so far I see no reason why he shouldn't achieve it.

Don't forget we'll be playing 3 more games than most of the other teams in the league

I tend to focus on stats relating to league games only as the standard of opposition in cup ties is less reliable than matches against teams in the same division.
