tbf Posted 13 January 2011 Posted 13 January 2011 So I was having a look at the Preston team we might face on Saturday and they could have two ex-foxes in the starting line up, though of course they left the club in very different circumstances. Adored by many, liked by all, no one can say that Iain Hume wasn't a great player during his time at Leicester, the season's top scorer albeit in our relegation season. He scored some fantastic goals and really gave City fans somehting to shout about. Our thoughts were always with Iain after he left, not least in the aftermath of the horrific injury caused by the elbow of The Blades' Chris Morgan. Link And of course we won't let Morgan forget it on every trip to the red half of Sheffield. (As an aside did you notice that Joe Mattock is on his way to Bramhall Lane?) The second player left somewhat under a cloud after allegations: Link More 'colourful' link And Brown's on-the-field performance wasn't much better. A tool kit limited to 'hoof' or 'go slow' did little to persuade the fans, or the manager that it was worth trying to resolve the issue. Tell me if I'm wrong but Brown was a no nonsense defender who succeeded in spite of skill, the trademark of a player best suited to the lower leagues. I wasn't sad to see him leave. And so now we face Preston North End, desperate in the need of a win to maintain our resurgence and keep alive the hope of a play-off position by making our first league double of the season against the lowest lying team in the league. Huuuuuuuuuuuuummmmeeeee!!!!
Guest Mee-9 Posted 13 January 2011 Posted 13 January 2011 Are you a Leicester fan? Or are you a Hume fan. Bring Gradel back. PS: Callum Davidson.
tbf Posted 13 January 2011 Author Posted 13 January 2011 I'm not a romantic. It was probably the right time for him to move on when he did, but he served Leicester well in the time he was here. All I'm saying is that the guy deserved our sympathy and, unlike Brown, now deserves our respect.
Haydos Posted 13 January 2011 Posted 13 January 2011 Callum Davidson and his slide tackles <3 Hume....Dickov but worse.
DB11 Posted 13 January 2011 Posted 13 January 2011 But Preston, along with Hume and Brown, have already visited the Walkers so it won't be the first time they face the Foxes even this season.

Our thoughts were always with Iain after he left, not least in the aftermath of the horrific injury caused by the elbow of The Blades' Chris Morgan. Incorrect. I disliked that cvnt as much as lildave3 currently dislikes Paul Gallagher, and the only thought I had after he left was "thank fvck for that". The rimming he still gets off of our lot is nothing short of a disgrace and it actually embarrasses me and makes me feel sick. And Brown's on-the-field performance wasn't much better. Brown was an exceptionally limited defender, I agree. But we were nowhere near as fragile with his defensive organisation as we were at the shambolic start to this season. I can't remember him losing too much aerially and he seemed to compliment Hobbs very well. I hope Bamba can take over that role now but also add a touch of class to the role; by that I mean not giving away possession far too cheaply and setting us on our merry way with attacks. I won't deny that the time was right for Brown to fvck off though, especially after what it was reported (rightly, it seems) he did at the time he did it. Unforgivable in my book. Grade A willy puller. Huuuuuuuuuuuuummmmeeeee!!!! BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. Seriously. Get a grip.
Corky Posted 13 January 2011 Posted 13 January 2011 I wouldn't say Hume was a great player, he scored some memorable goals yes but he's not a hero or anything. Brown was limited but did a job for us. I'm not really sorry either have gone.
Bert Posted 13 January 2011 Posted 13 January 2011 Hume was the best of a bad bunch. A willing trier, but we've took bigger steps forward and look stronger without him now. You can't fault his effort and application for when he was here, but he's not our player anymore.
Fosse Boy Posted 13 January 2011 Posted 13 January 2011 Never felt Guppy liked Davidson. Plus he couldn't drive so had to take the bus to games, hence always getting mobbed by autograph hunters at Filbo. For those reasons he doesn't deserve my applause.

Plus he couldn't drive so had to take the bus to games, hence always getting mobbed by autograph hunters at Filbo. For those reasons he doesn't deserve my applause. I think he liked him more than Wise did, 4 years, 100+ games, League Cup winners medal and having to deal with that **** Wise breaking his jaw for nothing means that Davidson is by far and away superior and more deserving of our affection than Hume, who said he would stay after we were relegated or Wacist Wayne. I don't have any problem with Hume but he was only marginally less shit than the rest of the team at that time, I can't imagine Stephen Hughes or Alan Maybury getting a good reaction here.
Matt Posted 14 January 2011 Posted 14 January 2011 Always liked Callum. Hume? He was the best of a bad bunch.

Hume wasn't a great player during his time with Leicester he was the best of a bad bunch. Doesn't make him a great player, he was all we had to love. The fact that he left us for Barnsley showed his level of ambition and look where he is now, in another relegation scrap. I liked him when he was here for his effort, bit he'll hardly go down as a great player for Leicester
Finnegan Posted 14 January 2011 Posted 14 January 2011 It's a sad reflection of our club over the last ten years that all you have to do to be a hero here is be on the books for about eighteen months and run around a lot.
Bob Weasel Fox Posted 14 January 2011 Posted 14 January 2011 Hume is a traitor and left us after we were relegated (after his penalty miss against Sheff Weds in the last home game virtually relegated us anyway), Davidson - average, Brown - donkey
Finnegan Posted 14 January 2011 Posted 14 January 2011 Ugh, as I hinted in my last post - I'm not a massive Hume fan but for fecks sakes; for the ten millionth time, Iain Hume is not "a traitor." Relegation cost the club a lot, we got an offer for Hume and our board accepted it. Football is a business. Deal with it.
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 14 January 2011 Posted 14 January 2011 You can realise how good a player is if you ask yourself the question: Would the Hume we had then get in our team now? No. He wouldnt. Tried hard and was liked by the fans, but he isnt a top class Championship player.

evs_the_fox Posted 14 January 2011 Posted 14 January 2011 4 years, 100+ games, League Cup winners medal... Davidson didn't win a League Cup with Leicester.
North-LondonFox Posted 14 January 2011 Posted 14 January 2011 I think Hume did really well for us - always gave 100% and showed a lot of nice touches - in the modern game its great to see a player who gives his all. I do have to say he wouldn't get into our current side and that probably shows how far we've come since the low point of the relegation season. Brown was a basic player and apparently a basic person - not really worth wasting time on.
wurmer Posted 14 January 2011 Posted 14 January 2011 Don't understand the hankering for old players who 'helped' us go down in 2008. He said he was staying and then left. Why the worship?
ajthefox Posted 14 January 2011 Posted 14 January 2011 Always liked Hume and Davidson was alright too. Brown is a fooking numpty though, vote for whichever cvnts you want to but don't bring your backwards views in the changing room. Either way, I'm not gonna waste my breath on any of them tomorow, none of them are worth it. Singing for the here and now is what I'll be doing.
SystonFox Posted 15 January 2011 Posted 15 January 2011 Hume is a poor mans gallagher but gally could Learn alot from humes game, funny that?!!!
BrummieFOX Posted 15 January 2011 Posted 15 January 2011 Very very few of our recent players warrant a chant or particularly warm reception from us, though neither they deserve a boo. In my opinion, when Hume's name is called out he should get a polite clap because he used to play for us and wasn't shit and anyone screaming Huuuummee should be ejected from the ground.
Captain... Posted 15 January 2011 Posted 15 January 2011 Davidson didn't win a League Cup with Leicester. Looks like your right on that one I tok it from the PNE OS so I thought it would be reliable http://www.pnefc.net/page/ProfilesDetail/0,,10362~5745,00.html Looks like theirs is worse than ours. I should really know better seeing as I went to the final, but I bowed to the PNE OS it shows how weak I am. A Part-time Pete to your Fanatical Frank
