Preston Post Match

Personally don't care about the game on Tuesday - we should just stick out a 2nd string side, as I think they are gonna batter us anyway.

Millwall is more important, and would rather the 1st team go into Saturday on the back of this draw, than on the back of a defeat.

Yeh but you could say they will be down after this draw. If they put up a fight against Man City they could feel a lot better.

I'm not having us throw a chance of a great victory away in the hope that will make a difference in the Millwall game (because it won't).

We try to win every game, that's the way it should be.

Say we don't get in the play-offs (quite likely) then we've thrown away a chance to memorably beat a massive Premier League club

We don't need a cup run at the moment - league is more important, and let's be realistic here, we ain't gonna win it, so it's just a distraction and potential injury creator.

Don't get me wrong I'm disappointed because it of course feels like two point lost rather than one gained, but I don't think it would be reasonable to rule out our playoff hopes purely on the back of this game? We beat Hull away & Swansea at home and drew away at an admittedly poor Preston team. Surely that can't be considered as poor form? Yes we may need to start stringing more wins together to push for a top 6 place but there's still plenty of time to get into a great run and I don't think our recent form has been that bad, all things considered. We don't seem to be getting beat regularly.

Let's not panic too much, it's still 7 point out of 9 in the last 3 games.

A potential morale booster too.

We should be looking to win every game, would obviously prefer to beat Millwall if I could choose both, but doesn't mean we throw it away on Tuesday.

win your home games, draw your away games you can' go far wrong.

Spot on.

Disappointing ending but still a good point away from home. Our fans are so blinded and short sighted. Only yesterday we were going to win the league. Not forgetting our fans are already worrying about travel pans for the Play off final.

I wouldn't book my tickets just yet....

Retarded is how I'd describe his playing style with us. And it's that retarded player that cost us 2 points today. That same retarded looking wankstain who is loved so, so dearly every time he plays against us. If anybody deserved that, it is our own fans who bellow HUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUME every time he opposes us.

You're dislike for Hume is borderline psychotic.

What did he do? Fuck your boyfriend?

Get over it, some people liked Hume a lot. I'm not sure why it bothers you so much?

Training is a potential injury creator.

We do need a cup run, because the league is possibly fooked.

How is the cup a distraction? The games are played on different days  Ever heard the phrase one game at a time? That's literal.

I'd hate for us to finish midtable and have a shit season with nothing to show for it. Beating Man City would be something to show for it.

But it's not good enough this time, that's why we're moaning

The declared policy of our owners and management to to get promotion this season...

Measured by this standard failing to win at the bottom club is not remotely good enough...:frusty:

Didn't go today as I said earler, listened to Stringer for the first time in a while, quite enjoy his comments and banter but his commentary is useless, absolutely no fooking idea, Youngy's good value though.

Really?! It's just that some of our lot don't seem to understand that.. :/

Oh, sorry Edmund. I'll just go and set up a wanking shrine for DJ Campbell instead and bleat on about him all the time. Oh, wait...

We used to concede (it seemed) in the last few minutes at an astonishing rate but anytime it happens you can't help but think NOT AGAIN, very frustrating, people say draw away and win at home, well thats all very nice if only it was that easy; to miss out on 3pts against a very poor side in injury time is very dissapointing. I personally don't think we will make the play off's but maybe if we had won I might have been swayed  but its results like this that make me feel we're not quite good enough, but I will love to be wrong in this case.

Having calmed down... All is not lost we still have 20 or so games left. and we can easily pick up enough points for a promotion push if the players continue to work as hard as we have been.

The frustration lies with the bad luck of not scoring all the chances we create. In time we will.

However, we must beat Millwall and possibly Sheff Utd if we want to gain some lost momentum.

It could've been worse.... does anybody remember the 03/04 away game to Middlesbrough?

89 minutes

M'Boro 1-3 Leicester

4 MINUTES LATER.

M'Boro 3-3 Leicester

We can't keep going on like this. We totally battered them, and should've won. We started off very slow though.

We've got to start finishing teams off because this is why we've failed away from home again.

Phil brown is a right tosser. He kept walking on the pitch having a moan at the ref.

Hopefully they go down.

A very frustrating day! As mentioned by most people, we need to be more clinical. I'm sick of hearing or seeing Lloyd Dyer one and one and not atleast making the keeper work. Hopefully the Yak will make us more clinical.

On a positive note, atleast we have two away games played and four points. Just think of the dismal away performances at the back end of 2010 and all of the soft goals we have conceded. E.G Ipswich, Watford, Millwall, Bristol City.

A good win against Millwall next Saturday and the league table will turn again I'm sure.

Shiiiiiiiiiiiiiit - two points thrown away in the last minute, but the support there was fantastic - and Yak getting his debut goal - it could be worse I suppose and at least Derby got hammered :D

Bring on Millwall.

Shows how fickle some people are. If we would have scored in the last minute, people would be saying 'oh yes, he we go, we're going up' etc

But we didn't.............dry.png

Decent turn out and atmoshpere, stood without problem all game.

Onto the game. We dominated and had numerous chances, hit the bar twice, Yak and Dyer missed chances. Yakubu's finish was tidy.

Bamba was playing well, but looked out of position for their goal. And in the last minute, at 1-1n ball is played through to King, of all people, to miss a second 1-on-1 of the game.

Overriding feeling is frustration, but no surprise.

On the radio he sounded terrible. Not saying you're wrong cos you were there, just very different to what Stringer and Young were saying.

Who else played well and who played cack?

Should be winning games like this. 3 wins in a row would have looked great, now its 2 wins and a draw, still seems good, but these things add up.

People say we still got a point but its 2 points dropped against a team we should have beat. We have dropped over 10 points this season because we fail to finish teams off. That is the difference between the top 6 and the rest of the division, finishing off the opposition, if we went 2-0 up, we would have won. Instead, 15 shots off target later and they score a injury time goal.

It just ruins all the hard work we've done since Hull, because we get 2 brilliant wins when we would have taken draws, but then drop points against a terrible PNE team.

I reckon Bamba was playing well. He was running the defence, looked calm on the ball and read the game well in the large.

Yakubu was how he's been desdcribed. Didn't look like he was putting in 110%, but showed his class with his finish. Gallagher surprised me, he was chasing things down, keeping it simple, hit the bar twice, once from a header! Naughton same as usual, good going forward, not convincing at the back. Weale kept us in it with a few top saves asweell.

Millwall is now a must win. Before today I'd want 3 points minimum from the 2 games, meaning a loss against Millwall wouldn't be awful if we'd won today. So now we must beat Millwall!!

Posted

I honestly don't know how we were able to throw these three points away.

Oh, wait... Missed about four excellent chances and could've won it about 5-0.

Our inability to convert chances into goals cost us dearly today against a crap Preston side who hardly ever threatened.

We controlled the pitch for most part, slick passing, possession and all that.

In the end, Ian ****ing Hume had to spoil it all.

Yakubu, Dyer, Gallagher (the free-kick in the first and a great header (!!) in the second half both hit the bar) as well as King in the end had it all in their hand to decide the outcome in our favour.

They all failed.

Still, glad that Nigerian beast scored on his debut for us. Bamba has yet to have a bad day in the office for us, second game and again very impressive, dominant in all areas (no header today, though). Abe won a couple of brilliant headers.

Berner was totally worn out towards the end and had big issues coping with the speed of some of the Preston midfielders.

Why he wasn't subbed earlier on and why Oakley came on and both Howard and Moussa so late in the game, only Sven can tell.

Howard's pass to King towards the end was sooo ****ing sweet, but King...frusty.gif

As for Preston North End fans, a total attendance of roughly 14'000 is a bit meh. Especially given the fact that we made up more than one sixth of that.

Respect to all Leicester fans to made the trip up North.

Oh well, still unbeaten this year, our away form seems to be picking up and next on the cards may be a surprise win in that big FA Cup replay on Tuesday.

And the boys in blue still have to come up with a result against Millwall - the trip to the New Den was one of the worst Leicester games I've ever seen.

On a sidenote, classy to see Steve Walsh in the concourse at half-time. "He's here, he's there, he's every****ing where..."

Meeting up with stockyfox and deepblue also made for a good day.

P.S.: "Handball!"crylaugh.gif
