I know its over a week until we play our next game. And I'm sure someone's already pointed this out but when we meet Sheff U we'll be lining up against one Joe Mattock (presently unable to claim a place with faltering West Brom) How things change.

well, he was clearly too good for us... i mean... you just need to look at how his career has blossomed since moving on...

me and nearly 3k city fans hurling abuse at him, can't wait.

Who cares now though because the fee west brom gave us for his services paid for Paul Gallagher, that's the way I look at it now. Also he's not even a patch on Bruno.

Even though the little toe rag was maybe going to sign for forest before the baggies came in for him. Who know's.

Of course, four players left when we got relegated to League 1. And out of those four, only Stearman's moved proved a good one as Wolves were promoted to the Premiership.

I have no sympathy for Hume, McAuley or Chambers (who all left along with Stearman) and also Mattock who left the following season.

They all should have stayed here. Barnsley, Ipswich and Doncaster were never better moves. I would have thought that Mattock would be a Leicester fan and wanted to enhance his career with a promotion push under Pearson.

Now though, we can sit back and laugh. And, I wouldn't take any of them back because we have better options now.

It was their loss!

those players got us relegated in the first place you'd hardly expect them to see the league alight by playing for other clubs even Holloway wasn't that bad as a manager

Who said they weren't forced out? The club needed to reduce the wage bill, and I seem to remember that Hume wanted to stay but was told he could (read should) go.

Every time I see Wolves on Match of the Day, Stearman always seems to **** up. lol

lol thats very true, as for mattock he must know deep down he has fooked up, I doubt he will ever admit it but when he plays against us and sees the quality of the side that faces him he will realise it even more

He is, he still lives here but was offered 5 times the money to go to West Brom and openly admits it.

Can hardly blame him, would you turn down a job that's an hours drive away for 5 times more cash a week?

As a Leicester fan playing for Leicester I would really really consider staying, it's not like a normal persons salary where you wouldn't even think twice about taking 5x your pay.

Playing for your home club is most fans dream and to throw that away to go and play (well... sit on the bench) at some yo-yo team for the next 4 years just seems a bit stupid.

Completely agree and the reason is exactly that, he's stupid but I still understand why he'd want to leave. Given the limited career span the difference between £100,000 a year and £500,000 is massive. He'll probably never get a contract like that again and end up back where he started (roughly what's happened).

Not to mention a big signing on fee, I don't blame him for leaving we had just been relegated and he was an England under 21 international, we weren't really in a position to bump up his wages either. It was probably best for Leicester to sell him while he was still unfulfilled potential, as opposed to now where it looks like he is crap. We are rubbish at getting players to play at thier potential anyway so he probably would have just stagnated here.

You have to remember that being a football fan and a football player doesn't always work out. A lot of us would say that we would never leave Leicester if we were good enough to play for them, but when you are in that position very few people do it especially these days.

I can see the Sheffield United move being made permanent if they stay up.

West Brom have always struck me as a well-run club financially and if they can get a bit of cash for a player who's a long way down the list, they could hardly be blamed for moving him on.

Someone needs to come up with something a bit more cutting than the old "what a willy puller" chant.

Something about him being a bit chubby maybe?

He's their worst player. I can't believe they keep picking him.

Agreed, if he was a true Leicester fan he would have stayed and tried to become a legend amongst the people he used to sit/stand with in the crowd.

That is far more fulfilling than any amount of money you might recieve, especially if you are a professional footballer and getting paid loads anyway.

I'll never understand what footballers do with all their money.

A man's true loyalty is tested when someone waves gold bars in their face.

Mattock didn't pass that test, but lets face it, none of us can ever understand why he left, we've never been in the same situation so can't judge.

I always said as a kid I'd never leave Ipswich, unless it was in their interest (ie they were desperate for money and a sale would stop they going bust, even if it was Leicester) until they kicked me out and all that love I had for them went out the window over night, now I hope they crash and burn.... well I hope David Sheepshanks does anyway.

I've no hard feelings towards Mattock, I think he is/will be more upset about it all than we are in a few years,

My Dad sad the same thing to me yesterday about when his mate was let go by Leicester and he held a grudge.

TBH though, I've always held a grudge against the actual club, it's not the 'Club' as such I would want to play for. It's the fans who are really the Club.

i would still slaughter him for what he said about the club he supported....i spose he dont anymore and hates us....well good ......make sure he heres us and it puts him off his game...the littlw twat

Every time you post about this you always seem to forget that there are two elements to negotiations - the player and the club - and that it's ultimately the club that has the final say. I'm not saying that's the case with Mattock, but from what I've heard that was the case with Hume, for example.

It was an excellent deal for us really.

He was alongside Dickov, the worst of our squad in League 1.

still give him stick for slagging his home town club off
