Fox42 Posted 18 December 2013 Posted 18 December 2013 Its dull and the letters "BvB" don't collaborate well. At first, I couldn't relate to the initials and the clubs name. Lets face it, if that badge belonged to a 2nd Norwegian division club instead of a European giant team you'd be quick to criticise.
Captain... Posted 18 December 2013 Posted 18 December 2013 Surely the BvB is what's symbolic though? It's a shit badge, it may be symbolic, traditional, classic, but as a badge it is BvB on a yellow circle, it is a shit badge. Let's be honest this is a shit badge: Doesn't mean I don't love it, and it doesn't have a lot of meaning behind it, but really it is a shit badge.

Success of a team wouldn't skew my opinion on their emblem. "You couldn't relate to the initials and the clubs name." What on Earth does that even mean? It's a shit badge, it may be symbolic, traditional, classic, but as a badge it is BvB on a yellow circle, it is a shit badge. Let's be honest this is a shit badge: Depends on your definition of "shit badge" - for me a shit badge would be something like the Eastbourne or Carolina Dynamo efforts posted in this thread that are just overdone, overthought crap. Dortmund's is a little simple - bland even, yeah - but shit? As in offensively terrible? No chance.

I mean a yellow circle with BvB in black letters, not saying they should change it, but if it wasn't the Borussia Dortmund badge and the proposed new badge design for Leicester, Blue Circle with LCFC in white on it, you would say it was shit.

Yes, I would say that concept would be shit - but if that was proposed it'd be in a completely different context / circumstance in terms of period and club icons / symbols, wouldn't it?

Exactly you take away the context, the history of Dortmund and the relevance of their club and just look at it as a symbol to represent their club, it is shit.
Langston Posted 18 December 2013 Posted 18 December 2013 Exactly you take away the context, the history of Dortmund and the relevance of their club and just look at it as a symbol to represent their club, it is shit. But we aren't are we?
Captain... Posted 18 December 2013 Posted 18 December 2013 But we aren't are we? Well we are, we are looking at examples of shit badges, not examples of shit badges at shit clubs, but context free badges that are shit. At any other club that badge would be called shit, so regardless of the fact that it is Dortmund, that is a shit badge.
Finnegan Posted 18 December 2013 Posted 18 December 2013 I don't agree with BVB. Lots of the German badges are in the same style and I don't really see the problem, it's just the clubs initials and year of founding in a circle. They don't mess around those Germans. How the **** can you look at that and call it a shit badge when we've got stuff like this in the world:
Harry - LCFC Posted 18 December 2013 Posted 18 December 2013 Surely the BvB is what's symbolic though? Meh, I think as letters go it's alright but I still prefer images and stuff
21st Century Fox Posted 18 December 2013 Posted 18 December 2013 I like the clean, modernist simplicity of some German badges. Hamburger, Nurnberg, 'Gladbach. If you want bad German badges look no further than Duisburg or Freiburg... My favourite though has to be Köln's "goat about to rape a beachball". Dortmund's current badge is nowhere near as bad as their 70's incarnation...

I actually like that badge, wish our current one was more like it

Hamburger, Nurnberg, 'Gladbach. Not German, but this is my favourite football badge for those very reasons...
Stadt Posted 18 December 2013 Posted 18 December 2013 I quite like Freiburg's badge. This however is quite bad http://www.soccerjerseychina.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=68_85_146 I'm on my phone so can't link it.
Fox42 Posted 19 December 2013 Posted 19 December 2013 I reckon they are in much better form in every December than us...
RonnieTodger Posted 19 December 2013 Posted 19 December 2013 When I played for Kirby Muxloe, we had an actual picture of the Kirby Castle as our crest
