ithuriel Posted 23 April 2011 Posted 23 April 2011 My point was that Weale was dropped for supposedly better keepers that in the end turned out to be pretty much of a muchness. We have chopped and changed and the defence has been unsettled nearly all season but peeps are still on here slating each individual keeper. When Riccy came i hoped he would be good but he had a bad flaw that was cruelly exposed and the fans got on his back. If Weale is in goal for Watford or Riccy or Logan there will be fans waiting for a clanger and a scapegoat when unfortunately they are all pretty flawed. My point is that since we have not currently got anyone better we should not get on the keepers back.

The goal that went under his body that for such a short keeper he should have kept out since it was right at him. Riccy lets soft goals in, Weale lets soft goals in, logan lets soft goals in. I thought that maybe Weale might have gotten better from his time out but he seems to have got worst.

You can't be a gk coach and not notice his horrible positioning, his poor footwork. That's your job. It's baffling. It's just reached the point where i'm done with genuinely poor keeping, not the odd mistake, that happens. In recent weeks Weale seems to have an incident every game. In the last 5 games he's been at fault for 4 goals out of 10.

He used to be quality, and while it's possible he might be past it, if he manages to come even close to his previous form, then he'd be a good asset. I don't think he was given a fair amount of time to adapt to the championship. If he was that good then someone else would have picked him up, he was sat on his arse in Portugal and thought Sven was calling about a timeshare not a contract. We shouldnt forget the reason why Sven wanted badback Kirkland, instead of Weale, and the reasons why Ricardo won't play again hence the reintroduction of Weale, Ambrusics must be thinking what the fook have I got to do to get a game.

Goalkeeping coach, defensive coach... some people's heads should be on a platter. anyone can drop a clanger on the pitch, but the constant mistakes are the fault of the management/coaching team. It the constant stream of mistakes which has cost us in every single game after the Cardiff one (where we were just lacklustre)

Give it a rest, the both of them are shit and I don't want either of them playing for us next season. Who cares if one is ever so slightly better having looked at the stats and goals they've conceded over and over. You know I could even argue quite easily that Logan is no worse than either of them. But again, that would be pointless.

Well I'd sooner pay £4,000,000 for a young quality goalkeeper, who you know is better than the one you have, than get one for free whos close to retirement, past it and may not be better than the one you have.

It's possible sven went in for a top keeper but refused to be held to ransom over a transfer fee.

BUT to say that we'd have been successful this season if only the variable of the goalkeeper changed then that's...just madness and wrong. Plainly. We've shot ourselves in the foot in many other ways, instances and positions such as poor defending, weak midfield and crappy finishing up front.
