Eriksson handed £10m to land Hesky and Given

Guaranteed this isn't even a rumour, it's just recylced bullshit by lazy journalists.

The £10m has definitely already been mentioned and so were those two were alleged targets in jan so this really isn't news.

I think I'm going to have to avoid this thread as soon as the window opens again cause no doubt it will be absolutely full of all this rubbish.

lol - may as well avoid transfer talk and the whole close season then!

They're just 2 players we've already been linked with, from about 100. And everyone knows we'll more than likely have a bit of cash in the summer. It'll either be really exciting or get old VERY quickly. Just imagine January on here but 10x worse.

so its not very random then is it? It isnt the first time we have been linked with them in National media... added to the fact the mirror is somehow getting Leicester transfer news correct more than any other national news source i would be inclined to think there is some truth to this news...

If Sven spent £10 on Heskey and Given I would be disappointed. No way on god's earth they are worth that.

However it is the mirror, so I'm not too worried. lol

the story from the mirror never says that Sven will spend 10m on JUST Heskey and Given.... it mentions the Yak and Kamara too...

Id take given, but no to Heskey.

If its a goalscorer/poacher/ 20+ a season man were after we need Danny Graham, not Heskey

Given has been one of the best goalkeepers in the premier league during the last 10 years. I'd only rank Van Der Saar ahead of him. Up until Hart got the nod he was still playing extremely well, he just got unlucky that Mancini picked Hart; a lot of managers would have picked Given! I can see him going to a top premier league club so for us to sign him would be incredible. He is the kind of stability we need between the sticks. I wouldn't complain about Heskey, but he's long past his best and we need to be looking at someone with more goals. I'd give him a cheer and welcome him back because of his history with us.

Don't agree with this at all ask any Man City support and they wanted Hart in goal, who could blame them he virtually picked himself with some great performances last year. I do agree Given is a quality keeper.

Heskey still has enough in the tank to cause defences in this league more than a couple of headaches. His nod ons and general presence around the box would be brilliant

Fees + agents fees + wages, remember. And I assume he meant together, not each. I'd pay that for Given alone.

The mirror is probably the least reliable source bar footballrumours.com for information.

Not really, it was oddly accurate from the start of the Mandaric rumours until now. This was, however, wildly believed to be Mandaric's people feeding the paper so who knows if it's still the same now.

That said, the fact we'll spend money in the summer is an obvious one so really this is just free column inches.

Page 61 of the sun- eriksson under orders to buy 12 prem players this summer. Heskey and given top of his list. Given has been the best keeper in the prem since schmeicheal though youd expect him to be well rusty without playing at all. Heskey? No thanks, hes not the same player he used to be for us and isn't that natural goalscorer we really need

All this talk about natural goal scorers etc. Has anyone stopped to think that most good goal scorers need a fellow striker who does a lot of the hard work to allow these players to score goals.

I think Dio and Heskey would smash this league.

I only said last week that the owners are likely to duplicate the £!0mill quoted at the beginning of the season. How accurate my prediction is, I don't know. I would have thought they learned a lesson about splurging their finances at the start of this season.

Anyway. Given is a given in my books. Snap his hand off, well not literally, but even so he'd be better than both our keepers at the minute with one hand! But pay whatever is asked in fee and wage!

Heskey. Pure nostalgia signing in my view. Is he any better than Yakubu? He has a little more pace, but he is not a goalscorer. Can we be reliant on the Yak and whoever else is about to make up for his inadequacies? Hmm..not for me.

People reckon we spent the £10 Mil this January, so I'd be happy to get Given and Heskey for that much. I think Heskey could still do a job (we need a plan B with a big man up front, but a better one than Howard), I just hope he doesn't come and flop.

But it doesn't necessarily say it would all be on those 2 anyway.

Given won't come here. That is utter fantasy.

It's all deja vu from the newspapers to the thread about the newspaper rumour, to the responses about the rumour about Given and Heskey.

Am I in an episode of Quantum Leap.....Sam? Sam are you there?

Although I don't believe the figures being quoted, I have no doubt that Sven will have made some enquiries about these two players. Whether this was back in January or fresh new approaches, we will never actually know.

However, we are crying out for a hard-working centre forward who makes leads and causes defenders problems, and a quality goalkeeper.

These two names fit these exact bills.

Would like to see both in the squad for next season.

However, there is one rule that Emile should think about. "Never Go Back" as it's never as good as the first time!

But if both were signed, I would defintely see this as an improvement to the squad.

I can't fukcing wait for the transfer talk forum to open, we're gonna be link to every single out of favour big name :D

It doesn't say £10m for Heskey and given it says for players including Heskey and Given.

We need a class goalkeeper - probably our most important need.

Heskey was always an Oaf. Loved him when he was here because he's Leicester but he couldn't score and couldn't stay on his feet. If we get him cheap great otherwise I won't be upset not to get him.

Wow, Now (If true) take note Stringer, This is massive news.

Wouldn't be wasting any of the money on Heskey really.

Given I wouldn't mind.

Emile scored 6 in his last 11 starts under Houllier, before he got sent off and Bent arrived. Best return in his career. Maybe he's a late developer. He would want to do it for us and Sven always loved him. He wouldn,t cost us too much in a transfer, but is the £10m budget to cover wages as well, I suspect it would be.

Given would be marvellous for us.

So Mirror, Sun and Mail - http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/sport/football/3548563/Sven-Goran-Eriksson-told-to-splash-the-cash.html

SVEN GORAN ERIKSSON is under orders to spend his way into the Premier League from Leicester's Thai owners.

Father and son partnership Vichai and Top Raksriaksorn will sanction the Swedish boss' bid to sign up to 12 players from Premier League clubs.

Manchester City keeper Shay Given and former Foxes striker Emile Heskey top his list of targets, while Eriksson also wants to make Yakubu's loan from Everton permanent.

£10 mill wouldn't cover their signing on fees and bonuses.
