Lots of posts like this, but I don't really see this as the "saga" that people are making out - first reported interest (according to the start of the other thread) was 28 April when it was suggested Maynard would be our no.1 summer target. I'm not sure we even bid until mid to late June, so it's only really been six weeks (and three or four bids) at most. I really don't imagine Sven, Andrew Neville or whoever's running the transfers is fretting half as much as people on here - understandable as fans want everything, now. A goalscorer is always going to excite people more than a solid defender, so people fill the board with posts and it snowballs into a bigger topic. I also think if he's our number one target then the club will not let two or three rejections knock them back until there really is no chance (either because he signs a new contract or because the transfer window closes). My best mate's a Bristol Rovers fan, so I go to Rovers games from time to time and have been "swayed" I guess, and now have a dislike for your team. I don't see how you can make statements like that when; A) We have/will have a bid on the table that hasn't been rejected B) He still hasn't signed a contract extension with you.
