Lots of posts like this, but I don't really see this as the "saga" that people are making out - first reported interest (according to the start of the other thread) was 28 April when it was suggested Maynard would be our no.1 summer target. I'm not sure we even bid until mid to late June, so it's only really been six weeks (and three or four bids) at most. I really don't imagine Sven, Andrew Neville or whoever's running the transfers is fretting half as much as people on here - understandable as fans want everything, now. A goalscorer is always going to excite people more than a solid defender, so people fill the board with posts and it snowballs into a bigger topic. I also think if he's our number one target then the club will not let two or three rejections knock them back until there really is no chance (either because he signs a new contract or because the transfer window closes).

Rumours have been flying around all night, which is a stark contrast to the relative death of the saga of late. It may be nothing but I wouldn't be surprised if something has changed tonight. Kent Posted 1 August 2011 Posted 1 August 2011 I just hope that he's waiting for the start of the season before making a decision and not the end of the window. I doubt we'd hang around that long anyway, we can't afford to be throwing players into the group last minute and I'm sure Sven knows that.

My best mate's a Bristol Rovers fan, so I go to Rovers games from time to time and have been "swayed" I guess, and now have a dislike for your team. And this whole thing has annoyed the fuck out of me, considering he's not even very good. In retrospect I guess I meant the situation is what I currently hate, not the person himself.

I don't see how you can make statements like that when; A) We have/will have a bid on the table that hasn't been rejected B) He still hasn't signed a contract extension with you. Not that you have a reputation to tarnish on here I suppose.

B) that's completely irrelevant to us not wanting to sell him to you A) Confirmed by reliable sources on here, not neccesarily saying it's already been tabled hence 'have/will have' B) When you say "told you so" that suggests that he's definitely not coming here and it was never a possibility, when we both know it was and still is a very real possibility

I'm surprised that Sven would admit to talking to a player under contract with another club, especially about joining LCFC. Apologies for referring to BCFC as City, didn't mean to confuse anyone.
