Walshy5 Posted 22 June 2011 Posted 22 June 2011 So can anyone confirm if we have actually made an improved bid?
LCFC1993 Posted 22 June 2011 Posted 22 June 2011 Putting it into context, Waghorn was £2 million possibly rising to £3 million, so getting Maynard for around the 3 million mark isn't that bad in comparison.
Toffee_Fox Posted 22 June 2011 Posted 22 June 2011 So can anyone confirm if we have actually made an improved bid? Daily Mail back it up, say's it was rejected though.
Callabinho Posted 22 June 2011 Posted 22 June 2011 Daily Mail back it up, say's it was rejected though. Explains why he has gone for the Korean dude then, I think Bristol want too much for him!
harpendenfox Posted 22 June 2011 Posted 22 June 2011 thank goodness we seem to have owners with deep pockets. If we spend £3.25 million on Maynard, that's pretty much exactly what we received for selling Fryatt, Gradel and DJ. OK, all of them may have wanted to leave, but it does feel like we let Fryatt go for much less than was sensible. There's no need for us to get pushed into selling Hobbs to Hull for less than we want too. Give us £1.5 mill or go away.
hackneyfox Posted 22 June 2011 Posted 22 June 2011 Fryatt and Hobbs helped get them promoted did they? I thought we did okay out of Fryatt and doubling our money on a player that no longer fits seems good business.
Babylon Posted 22 June 2011 Posted 22 June 2011 Daily Mail back it up, say's it was rejected though. I believe the article I posted was regarding the first bid. It was only posted now to point out last4lcfc and their failings.
artursteppe Posted 22 June 2011 Posted 22 June 2011 Explains why he has gone for the Korean dude then, I think Bristol want too much for him! If we are going for the 'Korean dude', it may of course be that we are getting fed up with a bunch of greedy bastards who are hoping for better deals from elsewhere - maybe, Yukube, Nugent and others we don't even know about. Maynard should put in a transfer request now if he wants to come, because Sven may not want to wait a couple of weeks for what still may be a maybe.
Libertine Posted 22 June 2011 Posted 22 June 2011 Explains why he has gone for the Korean dude then, I think Bristol want too much for him! WAARGHGFKDKFDFLLL Doesn't have to be one or the other.
Toffee_Fox Posted 22 June 2011 Posted 22 June 2011 Wasn't the first bid a few days ago for £2m according to all the papers etc? Wonder if this has anything to do with them holding out for higher? “We’re hoping Bristol sell him (Maynard) for an enormous profit because we’d get some of it." from the crewe manager.
Babylon Posted 22 June 2011 Posted 22 June 2011 WAARGHGFKDKFDFLLL Doesn't have to be one or the other. What? Can we sign more than one striker? Is that even aloud?
Libertine Posted 22 June 2011 Posted 22 June 2011 What? Can we sign more than one striker? Is that even aloud? ONE PLAYER PER POSITION, BABS. CRAM IT IN.
Babylon Posted 22 June 2011 Posted 22 June 2011 Wasn't the first bid a few days ago for £2m according to all the papers etc? Varied from paper to paper. That article was out before FO's post.
Sniffer-Clarke Posted 22 June 2011 Posted 22 June 2011 The Buzz in Brizzy is that they want nearer to £5m than to £3m for N.M.
dayday Posted 22 June 2011 Posted 22 June 2011 The Buzz in Brizzy is that they want nearer to £5m than to £3m for N.M. Couple of points Bristol City fans should understand. 1. Yes he is probably worth around 5million,though with his dodgy knee very few clubs would pay that amount.. I would go £3million tops with add ons. 2. Leicester City would not be a sideways step....we are more ambitious than them and can offer Nicky Maynard a very lucrative contract,he is not stupid...his knee may go anytime and with a lucrative contract offered to him he is hardly going to turn it down.
stix Posted 22 June 2011 Posted 22 June 2011 The Buzz in Brizzy is that they want nearer to £5m than to £3m for N.M. Have you been in hibernation?
shiv Posted 22 June 2011 Posted 22 June 2011 Putting it into context, Waghorn was £2 million possibly rising to £3 million, so getting Maynard for around the 3 million mark isn't that bad in comparison. We definitely overpaid for Waghorn. That doesn't mean as should have to overpay for Maynard.
bcfc99 Posted 22 June 2011 Posted 22 June 2011 Still find it amusing the figures being bandied about on here. 3 mill ha ha ha. You could probably get his left leg for that ha! He isn't going to another team in this division so get that through your thick skulls... Nicky will quite rightly sign a new deal with us and hold out for a move to the prem which will come if he carrys on scoring for us,hes not stupid he knows this. A move to a solid club in the prem a club like Fulham Blackburn etc, its a no brainer. Jump ship and go to you lot? Come on we all know what the championship is like, anyone can go up from this division incluing ourselves. Say he buys the crap you lot spout and he signs a 4 year deal with you and you flop and finish mid-table next season? All this will be going thorugh his mind. Add to that the fact we have already offered a ''lucrative'' deal of about 20 k a week him staying with us and waiting makes so much more sense, think about it? Good luck in the striker hunt but having spoken to various sources down here today im 100% confident he wont be going to you or anyone else in this league.
andyking10 Posted 22 June 2011 Posted 22 June 2011 We definitely overpaid for Waghorn. That doesn't mean as should have to overpay for Maynard. personally dont think we overpaid for waggy, yes for leicester back then 2mill was steep but i think for a younk kid he has big potential and already has the skill to start most games for us, unfortunately for him we have the money and attractive manager to get better more experienced players, putting him out of favour but i think if he was given the game time he could really show us what a demon he really is

Why in the world would he sign a new one? He'll run down this one and move on a free or move to a bigger team (not necessarily us) this summer.

I find it very difficult to see you challenging but I guess Maynard would give you a much better chance.
