smudger63 Posted 22 June 2011 Posted 22 June 2011 I`m not sure if Maynard will move anywhere in the coming weeks or not, but i would be amazed if he signed a contract extension at Bristol City. It just wouldn`t be in his interests. Yes he will get more money from a new contract, but he will know that he could move somewhere else now, and get more money than bcfc will be able to offer him. If he does stay at bcfc however, and he sees out his contract, he and his agent will be fully aware that because he would be able to leave for nothing, and no transfer fee would be involved, it would mean that it would be easier to negotiate a bigger wage at his next club. If he signs a new contract at bcfc , and somebody has to pay 4 or 5 million for him next summer, they`re going to be less likely to want to give him such a megga buck deal as well. The problem bcfc have, is if they don`t sell him now, then come the january window, with his contract as good as up, no clubs in their right mind are going to be willing to offer the money thats being talked about at the moment. Of course, it`s not solely in bcfc`s hands anyway, if Maynard doesn`t want to sign a new contract, and is just happy to see his contract out, then they will get nowt anyway.
