Nicky Maynard

We've been through this already. Even the forest fans themselves have absolutely no confidence that they will spend that kind of money. And considering that (from what I saw on their forum) theyre focussing more on Nicky Shorey, I wouldnt worry too much about them.

£4 million is a lot of dough for Maynard, I don't want us to get embroiled in an auction for him and pay way over the odds. I am also starting to come round to the fact that I want him here though as before I wasn't overly keen given his couple of serious injuries he's had. Tough one. We must get a proven goalscorer in though and if we fail to get Yakubu or Maynard it's back to square one. Nugent, Derbyshire and many of the other strikers we've been linked with aren't necessarily 20+ goals a season forwards.

Agreed - 4 million would cover the Yak's pockets anyway.

maybe the plan is to put massive bids in for all the top players because we can afford it, knowing our rivals would have to match these bids if they want the player, therefore giving them less money to spend on the rest of their team and consequently making them weaker. Or maybe Sven knows nicky maynards agent and has said to him "i'll get you 4 million for maynard if you get me such and such". Its all mind games...

£3.25 million allegedly

Hmm, Bristol will want to squeeze it to four I'm sure of it, however where he has warranted that rise is price is beyond me.....

3.25 mil is good for both parties imo. Hopefully Maynard can speed things up by writing a transfer request.

He isnt due back from holiday until next week, so until then we wont find out anything me thinks!

How do you work that one out?

I swear Wymsey is one of the negative thinking posters i've seen on FoxesTalk

How having one bid rejected means he's slipping away from us I don't know!

And lose any loyaltiy bonus he is entitled too. Doubt it. BCFC will get a price they will have to accept soon. Some where over 3 mil will be about right i would imagine.

Think the problem lies with Bristol City paying to much money for him in the first place.

They will want to make a profit on the 2.25 million they shelled out, when he's only probably worth that.

If we get him for no more the 3.25 million though I will be happy, cracking player at this level and hopefully the next.

Quality player, but wouldn't and shouldn't pay more than £3.25million for him- even that's a bit high imo, considering he's comeback from injury and has only one year left on his contract.

Also as someone else mentioned, Danny Graham went for an overpriced £3.5million. No way should Maynard cost anywhere near as much as he's only got one year, comeback from injury, and Graham has just had a much better season.

Thank you, I now understand a few previous posts.

On topic, Maynard is a class act and I hope he joins, but still feel a second top quality forward is required, not sure nugent is that guy.

WUM!

:D

After reading the Bristol forum I think it's safe to say they are mostly insane down there. Completely unable to grasp the idea that someone in the last year of their contract loses some value. They think even if he doesn't sign a contract they can get rid in Jan for the same kind of prices... I think the player also has a say in that!!! Beckford at Leeds is an example of someone in this exact same position losing out big time.

Graham > Maynard.

Even if we had all the money in the world we shouldnt pay an obscene amount for Maynard on principal.

I disagree, Graham only had one good season and his goals record is 1 in 3. Maynards is almost 1 in 2.

I'd love Maynard to sign tbh and if we have to pay up to 5m incoporating additional clauses it wouldn't neccessarily be a bad signing. Wickham's talked about at £12m ffs and i'm not sure he's any better than Maynard. This lad + Nugent woud be ace.

Come on!!

Maynard is good but he isnt on the same planet Wickham and Conor has a few years on him!
