Monkeh BCFC Posted 1 July 2011 Posted 1 July 2011 http://www.bcfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10327~2384491,00.html Latest from our club, Basically says Nicky has indercated he is staying at city and they are thrashing out contract deatails, No other offers for him accept yours which he says is nowhere near the clubs value of him So pritty much nothing new I still think he's staying and will sign a new contract with a 8 million buy out then we'll sell in Jan to the highest bidder
ithuriel Posted 1 July 2011 Posted 1 July 2011 Reading from that article it seem's most of the interest was paper talk and if LCFC did make an offer and it was turned down then LCFC decided to look elsewhere, hence CMS and Nugent perhaps. The prized asset is not all that prized by others after all Reminds me a little of when we had Mark Draper and we thought at the time he was a big time player who quickly faded into obscurity at Villa and we got a better player in Garry Parker plus cash

artursteppe Posted 1 July 2011 Posted 1 July 2011 If Sven wants Maynard, he'll get him! We could pay him double the wages BC will offer, and we can make BC an offer they could not refuse if, of course, Sven wants to do that!
Leicester_Loyal Posted 1 July 2011 Posted 1 July 2011 We could get the Yak for 2 mill but have to pay pretty high wages. I'd rather do that than pay Bristol City 5 mill + then pay Maynard 15k + a week.
Monkeh BCFC Posted 1 July 2011 Posted 1 July 2011 ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha 8 million you guys are delusional 5 million was steep enough but 8 come off it u sap let me explain that to your feeble mind as you can't seem to grasp what a buy-out clause is, We want a 8 million pound BUY OUT clause, what this means is, and I will go as slow as I can for a simple minded idiot like yoursefl, This means if and a big if a club were to bid 8 million for the player then City could not regect it as it would activate the clause in his contract, You know like the 1 billion euro buy out clause ronaldo has got or the 500 million clause messi has got, It doesn't mean City want 8 million you moron

Now who's the idiot?

However, your club has little to no leverage in this negotiation. I doubt as much as Maynard likes BCFC (don't know he does) he or his manager would be just shy of crazy to do anything like that. He has one year to go, that is his leverage, to force you to sell him at a decent value now prior to the end of his contract. If he were to sign such an extention he would be playing it out to the full as no one is going to pay that or anything like that. You need to get a grip that prior to the end of August he will have been sold for a lot less than anything close to 8 mil. The number 4 will be a lot closer
Guest shearfox Posted 1 July 2011 Posted 1 July 2011 Only because they have offered a buy out clause at 8m doesn't mean Bristol wouldn't accept a lower fee. Giving he only has a year left on his contract and is unlikely to sign a new one at Bristol, it would be stupid not to cash in, otherwise he will leave on a free next summer.
Guest Bilo Posted 1 July 2011 Posted 1 July 2011 Bristol City fan accuses a poster on here of being feeble-minded.
Mickey O'Neil Posted 1 July 2011 Posted 1 July 2011 Not having a pop at you Monkeh, nor am I "shooting up crack" "living in a dump like Leicester" with all my non-white neighbours, but I can't see Maynard signing a new contract with an £8m buy-out in it. No way. Not being funny but he'll be signing his death warrant if he agrees to that. You all say he deserves the PL, you all say he's good enough. Where's the PL queue? As for him leaving before the season, I think you maybe correct in that he will end up staying. For now. I've not followed this one too much tbh, so I don't know who has made offers. As far as I'm aware, it's only us with our "showing an interest" bid. I can see Forest chasing this up a bit, whether their transfer-board-thngymajig agrees to the prices you are quoting, for one player, I don't know.
Mickey O'Neil Posted 1 July 2011 Posted 1 July 2011 So pritty much nothing new I still think he's staying and will sign a new contract with a 8 million buy out then we'll sell in Jan to the highest bidder Can't see him signing a new contract to be sold in Jan mate. Really can't. NM may get itchy feet when the contract from Brizzle gets waved in front of him. What if he thinks "hang on, I'm 28 (I think he is ????? I don't know) they're not queuing up for me now as nobody wants to pay £8m for me. I'll be 31/32 when my contract is at the end. That's my shot at the PL gone. Sod this. Looks like I'm stuck here til Jan, then I'm off. I'll just have to bang as many in I can until then". Come Jan, if NM is still at Brizzle, he'll be on the contract he is on now. Let's see the resolve of your chairman then when he's got next to no leverage on negotiations. I'd bet that if NM refuses to sign, but stays until Jan, then moves on, the fee will be "undisclosed" to hide the fact that your club had its back doors smashed in.
Mickey O'Neil Posted 1 July 2011 Posted 1 July 2011 He's only 24 ain't he ? Looks like it!! That's why I said I didn't know how old he is!! ;-)
thybluefox Posted 1 July 2011 Posted 1 July 2011 Really can't see him signing a new contract. He undoubtedly wants to play at a bigger club than Brizzle (not saying thats us, although, we are), so signing a new contract would be crazy from his point. End of the day he doesn't care how much he gets sold for. He's bothered about 3 things, the club that wants him, the signing on fee and the wage. He could well stay there this summer, but if he does, you'll lose out massively come January, or if you're really unlucky he'll just wander off on a free come May. Putting myself in your chairman's shoes, I'd cash in now.
sbfox Posted 1 July 2011 Posted 1 July 2011 I want maynard sooooo bad. No homo? Ahem. Yeah, I'd love to see him here too as I think he *could* be a very good player. I wouldn't pay over the odds for him though, he's not exactly a proven goalscorer yet.
Spudulike Posted 1 July 2011 Posted 1 July 2011 Can't see him seeing out the final 12 months of his Bristol contract. If his knee goes again he could be unemployed by next summer (as in the Tunchev situation). As already said, if he was that good then he would be on his way to the PL. The fact that's unlikely speaks volumes. Not that fussed myself
artursteppe Posted 1 July 2011 Posted 1 July 2011 No homo? Ahem. Yeah, I'd love to see him here too as I think he *could* be a very good player. I wouldn't pay over the odds for him though, he's not exactly a proven goalscorer yet. Yes he is - last two seasons in the Championship, played 55, scored 26 goals - that should be enough proof to anyone, and he would be coming to a better footballing club where he could get an even better ratio in the same league this season. On the other hand, let's wait until he's played 300 more games and he is pushing 30 years old, just to make sure!

Danny the Fox 95 Posted 1 July 2011 Posted 1 July 2011 I swear Bristol city fans are just scum! Leeds were fine when they were telling us about Schmeichel.
STUHILL Posted 1 July 2011 Posted 1 July 2011 I just can't see this one happening as well as Nugent and CMS! Surely Sven doesnt have the funds to buy CMS for 3 million and Maynard for say another 3-4??? I've actually seen very little of this guy but I've been caught up in the hype of it all so I am guessing he is a real prospect. Injuries are a worry when you are spending that kind of money but then again he might be injury free for rest of career now, who knows? Dream front 3 is CMS, Maynard and Nugent!! If that happens, I will believe in pig's ability to fly!!!
