How much money is your club realistically going to spend this summer? 6 million for a player in the championship is absolutely ridiculous

Seeing him leave Bristol tin-pot City for nothing next summer is even more ridiculous and hilarious at the same time.

Especially if we're a premiership club by then and we go back in for him!

We wont spend £6 million on a championship player, if it comes to that then the owners will come to some sort of agreement with Yakubu. The reason we are looking at Maynard is for an alternative to spending over the odds, but some how Bristol think he has done enough to justify a £4million price tag.

I think we'll get him if we offer £7.5million

Just to clarify, I wasnt being serious, it was a reference to something that was said on the brizzle forum by one of their fans. Was kinda hoping more people had noticed it :(

Theyre a crazy bunch lol

Steve McClaren is ready to include David McGoldrick in a player-plus-cash deal for Bristol City's £4million-rated striker Nicky Maynard.

Forest boss McClaren will offer McGoldrick plus £3m in his bid to land Maynard this summer ahead of rivals West Ham and Leicester.

Maynard, 24, has emerged as McClaren's No1 target as the former England coach attempts to bring in proven Championship firepower.

Leicester have already had a £2.75m offer rejected, while West Ham and Southampton are also keen on the former Crewe forward.

Forest are prepared to let McGoldrick, 23, leave the City Ground after two seasons in a bid to tempt City into doing a deal.

McClaren said: "We need to make our intentions clear and what we want to do is make a statement.

"We need to show people where we want to be and where we want to go.

"The players we bring in have to match that."

We've got millions. If we want him that bad, we'd be able to beat a £4m bid easily.

It's a test of whether we want him or not.

I've got the feeling this is dead, or at least fatally wounded

there's been no movement since the initial linking

The CMS deal is going the same way, he met with us but wants West Ham, all the other business we've concluded has come around after we've met the player, there hasn't been weeks of thinking about it, like Yakubu, Maynard & now CMS

Shame, as I don't think Nugent will score a hat-full that these 3 probably would

I'm fairly sure if you look in the CMS thread you will see a P'boro fan saying he's completed a medical and is about to sign and confirmation of this by Bert.

Make of that what you will.

Eh?

We still have the power, this one will be a decider for me. And personally I think we will win the battle.

I honestly wish I had your faith. I'm no doom-merchant, and I hope I'm wrong but I'm struggling with this.

no go according to jono on another thread..

There was originally talk of a double deal for Cunningham and Mee but Doubts over Cunninghams leg scuppered that deal. But it may happen in January.

Not sure if Mee will be unveiled tmoz but have been told this is nailed on.

Also Rommedahl,Mills,SWP,Maynard = No goes

I do hope they don't realise how shit McGoaldrought is.

Maynard meets Millen today, I fully expect us to put an improved bid in for him!

Why :dunno: If CMS and Nugent sign then surely money would be better spent elsewhere (ie. Centre backs).

No matter what the Bristol fans claim, Maynard is not a Messi clone.

Maybe City could put 3m and Waghorn on the table? Waghorn will go but for a loss. If its for a player Sven wants could be ideal if BC rate Waghorn.
