Buck1983 Posted 7 July 2011 Posted 7 July 2011 Who said £2m? He won't be on £55k a week though!!! Not forgetting if reports are believe Yak no longer wants to play in this league. yakubu still works out cheaper. No doubt maynard would be on 30-35k a week. Simple maths indicates that 7 million transfer fee plus 5.5 million in wages over 3 years is more expensive than Yakubu even if we did agree to his ridiculous 55k a week which we wouldn't. But you're right BIG if he wants to play in this league or even Play for us.
Babylon Posted 7 July 2011 Posted 7 July 2011 I bet the Bristol chairman is sat by his phone rubbing his hands in anticipation of a stupid bid for Maynard.
Bayfox Posted 7 July 2011 Posted 7 July 2011 I bet the Bristol chairman is sat by his phone rubbing his hands in anticipation of a stupid bid for Maynard. Ype the silly offer for mills must now make Maynard worth at least 7 million. Madness.
okie fox Posted 7 July 2011 Posted 7 July 2011 So, are we doing a West Ham and banking everything on promotion next season?
Hack Posted 7 July 2011 Posted 7 July 2011 So, are we doing a West Ham and banking everything on promotion next season? With our owners, not everything. They will not go under if we don't go up.

shen Posted 7 July 2011 Posted 7 July 2011 Yak is much older than Maynard though, so has sod all resale value if things go tits up. But Yak scored 11 in 20 for us already, and is a proven Premier League player. And he's still only 28 on paper at least With his record he will easily be off-loaded in worst case scenario

Joe. Posted 7 July 2011 Posted 7 July 2011 Are we really going to break our transfer record twice in one summer?! Really? If we're getting Mills for that kind of fee it really wouldn't surprise me to see us just bite the bullet with Maynard.
ithuriel Posted 7 July 2011 Posted 7 July 2011 If we we're to get both of these this week then watch a few more season tickets sell and shirt sales with names on would be up too
Joe. Posted 7 July 2011 Posted 7 July 2011 He had flown out with the rest of the squad to their training camp in Portugal, not that it means a great deal.
shen Posted 7 July 2011 Posted 7 July 2011 Why aren't teams falling over themselves to sign him now then if it's such a bargain? We don't know, do we? Could be that he has a lot of offers to consider. But I would assume that his wage demands rules out a host of clubs My point is simply that risk-wise, the Yak option seems slightly safer bet for us. He's tried and tested here and knows the team.
lestajigs Posted 7 July 2011 Posted 7 July 2011 He had flown out with the rest of the squad to their training camp in Portugal, not that it means a great deal. If he was coming here surely he wouldn't fly out there
Leicfox Posted 7 July 2011 Posted 7 July 2011 If he was coming here surely he wouldn't fly out there But apparently he's taken this with him..for when we make a strong bid later on today.

And the Mills bid is £5 million? It would only be once if that was the case.
Haydos Posted 7 July 2011 Posted 7 July 2011 If he was coming here surely he wouldn't fly out there We haven't even had a bid accepted, why would he not travel with their squad.
lestajigs Posted 7 July 2011 Posted 7 July 2011 But apparently he's taken this with him..for when we make a strong bid later on today. Oh he'll be alright then!! Ha ha
Guest Bilo Posted 7 July 2011 Posted 7 July 2011 To be honest I reckon the 'Maynard signs for Leicester' thread on OTIB will be worth a good £5m on its own.
lestajigs Posted 7 July 2011 Posted 7 July 2011 We haven't even had a bid accepted, why would he not travel with their squad. Your asking the wrong person
cc_star Posted 7 July 2011 Posted 7 July 2011 The real problem here is the 20% sell-on clause, this makes anything other than a ridiculous bid difficult for Bristol City to substantially profit from They need to substantially profit to not only replace him but also strengthen their squad. I say we just raise our offer a bit & then sit on it... It'll be far more than anyone else is willing to pay and infinitely more than they'll get in January and obviously next summer. It'll be our cash offer Vs Forests players + cash and now Earnshaw has joined Cardiff, Forest have less to bargain with
