Jimmy Posted 6 July 2011 Posted 6 July 2011 nice to see the mods on here are doing their usual fine job, i bet if all the off topic posts were removed we'd lose about 50 pages
DJ Barry Hammond Posted 6 July 2011 Posted 6 July 2011 http://www.mirrorfootball.co.uk/transfer-news/Nottingham-Forest-eye-Chelsea-Jack-Cork-have-bid-Bristol-City-Nicky-Maynard-rejected-article761318.html McClaren will have to raise his offer for Bristol City striker Maynard after a £2.5m bid plus David McGoldrick was rejected by the Robins, who are holding out for £4m for the highly-rated forward. McClaren said: “We want to bring in the players that will help us make that vital step to promotion to the Premier League.” If this was reported by the News of the World I'd be worried, because no doubt they have taps into Bristol City's and Nottingham Forest's phone lines/answerphone messages Question is, do the Mirror employ the same tactics?

Most national tabloids do, though few take it as far as the NotW did. As far as the thread topic is concerned, meh. I'd rather see us sign Matt Mills.
Alexikokopops Posted 6 July 2011 Posted 6 July 2011 nice to see the mods on here are doing their usual fine job, i bet if all the off topic posts were removed we'd lose about 50 pages Since I woke up this morning there have been about 22 pages of posts. That's heading towards 500 new posts. I have been at work for 8 hours today, as will have a lot of the other mods. We do our best on a volunteer basis so posters like you can enjoy the site (a make snide posts like the one above). If it bothers you then we'd very much appreciate a reply to this with all the posts you think should be removed and why. THANKS.
psychonaut Posted 6 July 2011 Posted 6 July 2011 Now im not claiming to be in the know like bert is or a few others on here but I have maaged to gleam some info from a few sources, whether its true or not is a different matter. We've now had 3 bids rejected and the latest one had a total value of around 3.98million plus a small sell on percentage of around 5%. NM is Svens number1 target for the summer but it wont get in the way of deals for other players. They are willing to spend just over 5million on Maynard before they give up and look elsewhere as theyre not prepared to offer players in the deal. The board still wants a big name signing over the summer and are prepared to spend anything that is needed. They have massive hope over the NM transfer as the replies from BCFC seem more and more desperate each time and it appears they are close to cracking so a fourth bid will go in tomorrow. They are not aware of any other clubs being as strongly interested. Thats as i understand it but dont take it as gospel as nobody really knows although if you read Sexstones comments they are getting vaguer and appear to be desparate Thanks for the info, adds to the speculation but thats what this section of the forum is for.
Bob Weasel Fox Posted 6 July 2011 Posted 6 July 2011 95 fackin' pages! im really hoping it gets to 100 pages before we sign him

THANKS. it shouldn't be regulated. the organic nature of it is good. especially as it's all speculation anyway.
psychonaut Posted 6 July 2011 Posted 6 July 2011 nice to see the mods on here are doing their usual fine job, i bet if all the off topic posts were removed we'd lose about 50 pages Who gives a fvck how many pages this thread has! Thats the whole point of a forum - to discuss, speculate and trade opinions. Maybe many posts have been off topic but thats the nature of discussion and conversation. It would be impossible to keep it soley based on NM as he relates to other players, clubs managers, wages, bids etc etc etc
Ozwin Posted 6 July 2011 Posted 6 July 2011 If this place was strictly on topic I don't think I'd have been around here half as long as I have. It's what gives it it's charm. Nobody would have a personality on here if messages were getting deleted every 5 seconds.

God if every off topic post of mine was moved, I'd only have a post count of close to 200 and I bet its the same for most other people. The mods do a great job in not doing a lot really (how a good forum should be) and as far as I understand they haven't tapped my phone line so I'm happy. How adding a post complaining about the number of posts in a thread contributes anything I don't know? On a side note - Alexi, delete this ranting post please, I've only added it to kiss up to the mods, so it doesn't need to be here long after that has been achieved
cc_star Posted 6 July 2011 Posted 6 July 2011 I wonder what would oranges be called if they were a different colour, can't see them really being called 'greens' or whatever... hmmm Oh, on topic... Have we signed NM yet?
Leicester_Loyal Posted 6 July 2011 Posted 6 July 2011 Wow who cares if we go off topic. So, Mills + Maynard, if they were to both sign, what would we then need? Presuming the South African LB signs, I'd say we'll only need cover for RB (Mee?) and maybe another winger. Another striker would be nice, but Maynard will be the striker in the 443/451 formation.

Leicester_Loyal Posted 7 July 2011 Posted 7 July 2011 Mee is left footed. Ooops, forgot he provides cover for LB and CB, not RB and CB. So, think we'll still need a RB then?
Conscript Fox Posted 7 July 2011 Posted 7 July 2011 I hereby deposit my contribution to driving this wilderbeast of a thread over the 100 page mark before we even sign him. If we ever do. Come on. Come On Lads. Push.
Jimmy Posted 7 July 2011 Posted 7 July 2011 Ooops, forgot he provides cover for LB and CB, not RB and CB. So, think we'll still need a RB then? I'm sure Abe has played there a lot, even for Japan on occasion
Hack Posted 7 July 2011 Posted 7 July 2011 if maynard wanted to leave he would of handed a transfer request in when the first bid was rejected, Unless you meet our asking price he's going nowhere we don't need the money I don't think that is so. He and his agent would be trying to avoid a request for transfer as it would mean the club don't have to pay him loyalty and other bonuses. Also means that he has made up his mind as to he is going to. I think before he forces BCFC's hand to let him come to us, he is still holding out hope of a Premier league team coming in for him. Which is what your chairmen is impling when he says he doesn't want to sell to a rival club. They are both holding out for a Premierleague team to come a knocking. This would be a more acceptable position for him to take to your fans. However, if one doesn't come in for Nicky, then I reckon he will sell him to us, later in the month. That is how I see the situation. I doubt very much he signs an extention with you.
MikeyT Posted 7 July 2011 Posted 7 July 2011 After all this, we won't sign him. He'll sign a new contract with them and that will be it. Hours of us all posting about him for no reason.
