hackneyfox Posted 3 May 2011 Posted 3 May 2011 Thanks for everything, you've been a true professional. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/13270125.stm
Trav Le Bleu Posted 3 May 2011 Posted 3 May 2011 "Likely"... "likely". But probably he won't get many if any games under Sven. Myself I'd like him to be given a player/coach role as he seems to know his stuff.
cc_star Posted 3 May 2011 Posted 3 May 2011 Good luck to him We don't want players unhappy in the background & no one can dictate they should be in the team. It will be best for him & us if he finds his someone else, he's got his international career to think of and he will be a good signing for someone My only concern is that not only might we need to replace most of the first 11, but we could find ourselves looking for quality backup

We could certainly do with a defensive coach, unless we already have one in which case they need replacing anyway & although Berner's not as mobile as a youngster, he certainly knows a lot more
Ross 'LCFC' Turner Posted 3 May 2011 Posted 3 May 2011 we might aswell let him go and have a final few years of first team football. been a good player / servant to the club but way to slow now, especially as sven likes fast attacking wing backs, good cover but cant expect him to sit on the bench for another season.
Dan Posted 3 May 2011 Posted 3 May 2011 All the best to him. I know it's probably because I'm only 17 but he really has been one of my favourite ever players for us.
Wymsey Posted 3 May 2011 Posted 3 May 2011 Perhaps the most unsettled player at the club. I wish him the very best of luck.
FoxyPV Posted 3 May 2011 Posted 3 May 2011 He wants to play - can't argue with that. He probably knows his days are numbered here, especially under Sven.
acooling08 Posted 3 May 2011 Posted 3 May 2011 Shame to lose a defender who can actually defend. Looks like we'll be leaking goals next season too.
RowlattsFox Posted 3 May 2011 Posted 3 May 2011 Why sign a new contract then? Surely he knew then that chances will be limited. It seems to me that he signed the contract as a back in case noone comes in for him. I'd wish him the best if he did leave, atleast we might get small fee for him now atleast.
Walshy5 Posted 3 May 2011 Posted 3 May 2011 Offer him a player coach position. Reckon he could be a great influance on the youngsters!
sdb Posted 3 May 2011 Posted 3 May 2011 Don't blame him. Comes in, plays well, gets dropped. Comes in, plays well, gets dropped. [repeat to exit]
Pegosteve Posted 3 May 2011 Posted 3 May 2011 We could certainly do with a defensive coach, unless we already have one in which case they need replacing anyway & although Berner's not as mobile as a youngster, he certainly knows a lot more Fazackerly was a quality centre half in his day, surely he takes control of defensive coaching. Wonder if Harman could talk Sammy Hypia in joining us?
arch stanton Posted 3 May 2011 Posted 3 May 2011 All the best to him. I know it's probably because I'm only 17 but he really has been one of my favourite ever players for us. shame you don't remember ROFE or GUPPY at wingback
arch stanton Posted 3 May 2011 Posted 3 May 2011 Fazackerly was a quality centre half in his day, surely he takes control of defensive coaching. Wonder if Harman could talk Sammy Hypia in joining us? dont you think it's a coincidence since hamann replaced Powell we've gone to pot defensively ?
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 3 May 2011 Posted 3 May 2011 What annoys me is that he should be in the team, certainly ahead of PVA and Mee when he is put at LB. The only decent 'defender' we have, but hey Sven doesnt rate him he isnt a favourite of his so he has to go. Disappointed.
ScouseFox Posted 3 May 2011 Posted 3 May 2011 Minimal chances this season, but when played hasn't looked the Bruno of last year. Got ripped to pieces against a bit of pace when he played against Mill at home.
Stevosevic Posted 3 May 2011 Posted 3 May 2011 Alot of people are obviously still thinking of the Bruno of last season. He has been awful at times this season, WBA and Norwich come to mind. Mee and Cunningham are better LBs.
funkyrobot Posted 3 May 2011 Posted 3 May 2011 With Bruno leaving it's important Sven gets a permanent replacement rather than a loan. If we only have loan fullbacks then there's always a risk of the parent club calling them back if they get a few injuries. Plus too many loans could result in us doing a Sheffield united. Their chairmen blamed their relegation in part on an over reliance on the loan system.
Kitchandro Posted 3 May 2011 Posted 3 May 2011 The only left back that is better than him is Mee. But I think Sven sees him as a centre back and a backup left back. It's fair to say Bruno's about past it now and can't be a regular but I'd still rather have him than Cunningham or PVA. I know everyone says Sven likes attacking fullbacks and all that but dfending is always the priority in a left back and neither of those 2 are very good in that department. So I think there must be a new face at left back next season.
Maybes Posted 3 May 2011 Posted 3 May 2011 dont you think it's a coincidence since hamann replaced Powell we've gone to pot defensively ? Yeah just like Charlton have been flying in League One...
dannythefox Posted 3 May 2011 Posted 3 May 2011 Great player will do well at another championship club. Thanks for everything.
ta-fc Posted 3 May 2011 Posted 3 May 2011 well I'm 32 and he's been my favourite over the past couple of seasons... Thanks for everything Bruno!
Scow Posted 3 May 2011 Posted 3 May 2011 Bruno has suffered the same fate as players like Hobbs, Morrison and Fryatt - all successful Pearson recruits suited to a more rigid and deeper-lying defensive set up. Bruno has looked exposed at times because Sven employs this higher defensive line, with emphasis on the full backs getting forward often. Unfortunately, Bruno just doesn't fit this style. Also, the 4-3-3 doesn't provide him with the same defensive cover as in a more conventional 4-4-2 - he often had Dyer, who covered so much ground, helping him out. He can still do a job at this level and it wouldn’t surprise me to see him go to Hull.
Guest Col city fan Posted 3 May 2011 Posted 3 May 2011 well I'm 32 and he's been my favourite over the past couple of seasons... Thanks for everything Bruno! Like Bruno a lot... As a player he's been pretty solid and as a person seems intelligent and appears to love Leicester... It's clear however that Sven doesn't fancy him so it's time for Bruno to move on. Good luck to him
