To be honest, he might have been a marquee signing in League One for Mandaric, but the money he is on probably pales in comparison to the amounts we're paying some of these loanees, and classy centre-backs aren't ten a penny at this level.

He's been well paid and has returned very little. I like him too, and want him to succeed at city, but I'd think it fair if an offer was based largely on appearance/fitness related basis. Spot on.

I don't think that we owe him anything though, he was under contract with us and we paid him during his time off. It's not like he had the option to move anywhere else, he was injured and could only wait to get fit again while being paid by us. I like the guy and he did look quality when he was fit, but really it depends on Sven's plans. It might be that he looks at two new center backs and in that case maybe it would be better to let Tunch go. However, I wouldn't be adverse to a pay as you play or a 12 month contract just to give him time to get back to his best, as he really was quality and I was a little surprised that he didn't go for a club in a higher division when he joined.

CloudFox Posted 10 May 2011 Posted 10 May 2011 I don't see as there's any harm in at least keeping him on through pre-season, and seeing how he improves fitness/ability-wise. It would be such a shame to see him disappear after the struggle he's had trying to get back and play for us.

He knows the Tunch has a bit of a cult following so by building tension he will have a lot of happy supporters queuing for their season ticket when it's annoucned. I would be very surprised if Tunch wasn't offered some kind of deal.

When he arrived it was seen as a coup for us, give him a 1 year rolling contract, # of performances should be taken into some consideration but not too heavy! This summer will determine his fate. He seems to be enthusiastic about the club, we need them sort of players and mentalities around as we're going to have a lot of players come in who may only be in it for the money.. maintain a good balance!

On balance I think the stupendous commitment Tunchev has made to getting himself back on the field may just swing it. If so it will be a massive achievement for the bloke and one that I hope pays dividends all round. Deep down I don't think it will but, even as a manager, I wouldn't necessarily be negative about that. Tunchev strikes me as the sort of bloke who could be a coaching asset as well. From the outside, I'd take the chance and offer him a deal.

From the outside, I'd take the chance and offer him a deal. as per our chats on the market we need a defensive coach so even if he does sign on then end up crashing out with another injury an experienced international defender is never a bad thing to have around young CBs that are willing to listen to and seek out advice
