Ross 'LCFC' Turner Posted 9 May 2011 Posted 9 May 2011 With us being tipped as favourites already would play offs be an underachievement? or given the chance would you take play offs without even kicking a ball?
The Year Of The Fox Posted 9 May 2011 Posted 9 May 2011 Playoffs. We will be nowhere near the top2 next season
Amin Posted 9 May 2011 Posted 9 May 2011 I remember when the host of the footy phone-in asked birch and stringer about 3 months ago if they would take 6th place if given the choice at the time. Birch said yes, stringer said no, and the whole studio had a go at birch for being conservative when auto promotion was a possibility. At the time, I agreed with stringer, but for next season I would take 6th in a heartbeat.
no1likepeter Posted 9 May 2011 Posted 9 May 2011 Yeh would take 6th 5th 4th 3rd 2nd or 1st if none of them another poor season
irDeano Posted 9 May 2011 Posted 9 May 2011 Definitely because next season we might actually stand a chance of winning them. Would take a win at Wembley over 1st/2nd anyday!
hesapeepingtom Posted 9 May 2011 Posted 9 May 2011 i think we got the wrong manager to be looking for a top 2 finish! where do you all think we would have finished this season if we had a colin willy puller in charge of the players we had? dont think svens the right man for this division at all.He wants all the same loan players back thats the ones that wernt good enough to even get us a play off place this season.Hope im proved wrong but seems to me right now best we can hope for is a play off place. hopefully we ll sign some quality aswell as the same loan players he wants back. we ll see.
cc_star Posted 9 May 2011 Posted 9 May 2011 Nope The 25% (1 in 4) chance it offers is often down to pure luck I think we'll be one of the best teams next year, and the the better teams never win the playoffs If the question was would you sooner go up finishing 2nd or the playoffs - I'd say the playoffs everyday of the week - because the experience is unrivalled.
z-layrex Posted 9 May 2011 Posted 9 May 2011 I'm just scared tbh. Remember boro were faves last year.
Libertine Posted 9 May 2011 Posted 9 May 2011 Of course. Hoping for automatic though. No reason why we can't do it.
Foxybeaver Posted 9 May 2011 Posted 9 May 2011 Day out at wembly would be fantastic but if were in the top 2 towards the end of the season I wouldn't want to drop out of it
dannythefox Posted 9 May 2011 Posted 9 May 2011 I wouldnt take play offs i think we can do better than that next season
StarFox Posted 9 May 2011 Posted 9 May 2011 No thank you. Automatic all the way. It will put us in the right frame of mind to stay in the premiership.
ScouseFox Posted 9 May 2011 Posted 9 May 2011 Right now, yes. But I'd much rather win the league than the play offs. I think.
Jakemoore Posted 9 May 2011 Posted 9 May 2011 I'd take play-offs but I think we're getting top 2 next season anyway
The Sven Revolution Posted 9 May 2011 Posted 9 May 2011 Like many people said, right now I'd take POs. But if we are top in Dec, then I would back us to finish in top 2, wouldn't take POs then..
lestajigs Posted 9 May 2011 Posted 9 May 2011 I'd take the playoffs, I really can't see us finishing in the top 2,
The Year Of The Fox Posted 9 May 2011 Posted 9 May 2011 Trust me. A day out at this wembley is not fantastic. You would not want to see us winning and having to sit down
LCFC_FAN_1995 Posted 9 May 2011 Posted 9 May 2011 Would love to win the play offs trip to wembley would be lovely can't see us getting top 2 though
Corky Posted 9 May 2011 Posted 9 May 2011 It depends on how the season starts. I'd take it as a minimum yes.
Guest Col city fan Posted 10 May 2011 Posted 10 May 2011 Playoffs. We will be nowhere near the top2 next season I agree it will be difficult next season.. Play offs would be a good achievement in my eyes
Narborough_fox Posted 10 May 2011 Posted 10 May 2011 No. Purely for the amount of money it is to go to Wembley.
Donut Posted 10 May 2011 Posted 10 May 2011 Next season could be very difficult. The teams coming down from the premiership are going to be stronger than this season thats for sure. West Ham coming down is bound to be a trick proposition, Wolves will be very strong in my opinion IF they come down, Blackpool or Wigan both play attractive football too. Looking at the teams in the championship, youd expect Pearson to get things right at Hull next season for a push, same goes for Mowbray at Middlesbrough judging by the way theyve finished the season, plus the losing playoff semifinalists are all strong. The teams coming up are exciting too. Seen quite a bit of Brighton and they are the image of Gus Poyet......Southampton are a good footballing side and look at Huddersfield.....24 games unbeaten and are STILL only in the playoffs! Id always take a chance in the playoffs.
ajthefox Posted 11 May 2011 Posted 11 May 2011 Instinctively I said yes. But after thinking a little, I'm not sure. Reason being I don't expect top 2 and anyone who does is not looking at it fairly, but if we don't make the play-offs I think a lot of people, myself included would be disappointed, so in that sense I think I'd probably have to turn the play-offs down as we have a decent shot at auto.
