Chazwaz Posted 22 June 2011 Posted 22 June 2011 Fourth_Official ''Leeds have been given the green light over the Schmeichel transfer to finalise a deal for their new goalkeeper''
Burmesefox Posted 22 June 2011 Posted 22 June 2011 If he does not want to come to us, he can do the other thing and p1ss off. I only want to give my full support to players who actually want it ie those who actually want to wear a Leicester City shirt. Any player or agent who wants to trawl themselves around for the best deal can bollocks. That sort of approach from players is a very strong indicator of someone deficient in attributes Sven will be looking for, such as desire, hunger, determination and the strength of character needed to be a 'winner'. Poncing around the market place demonstrates those attributes normally found in 'losers' who have a higher opinion of their abilities than they should have. Sorry chap but you are living in the dark ages. Every player entering the market will asses and make their decision based upon signing on fee, wages, promise of first team football, and the ambition of the club. Casper would be an idiot to accept the first offer he got. His agent will be very busy conntacting at least another 15 clubs from the championship and premier league. If the first Casper heard about this was the other day he wouldnt have given it much thought about coming to us - you cant expect him to decide to join us in 48 hours just because we want him. It's also reported that we are looking at other keepers - so it works both ways. Casper will be courting clubs and City will be courting keepers.
Guest Col city fan Posted 22 June 2011 Posted 22 June 2011 Whilst I relate to what you say, you really are making far to much of this...... A good pro will look at his options and do what is best for him and his career, hopefully getting good advice from his agent. The kind of player we want will want to come to us because he sees a great opportunity to develope his career and be part of a successful side. He will be well paid too, very important but only part of the package. As a pro he will put in the effort to be successful both individually and for the team. With luck the team will do well, build a good spirit and the players will develope and improve forming an affection for the club, the manager etc. This is the ideal scenario, a win-win for everyone and the way that clubs at our level should attempt to operate. So to Kasper (and the rest) I say this. Take a good look around and see what is on offer and decide. If you come to City you will be well paid, working with a great manager and part of a team that is looking for a seriously successful season. If that is what you want then come here and give it your best shot, that's all that is asked.... If you just want the money, follow the Yak! Superb post as usual Dave. Sums it up completely for me
cc_star Posted 22 June 2011 Posted 22 June 2011 Obviously doesn't want to join us, unless Sven goes all out convincing him to. Whilst this is probably the case with more than half the signins I've never seen it so blatant. Aren't Leeds one of the favourites for Westwood? He's much better than KS, surely we can compete for his signature instead, instead of funding Leeds to upgrade their keeper.

Babylon Posted 22 June 2011 Posted 22 June 2011 Obviously doesn't want to join us, unless Sven goes all out convincing him to. You can read what he said several ways, I wouldn't be so sure it was anti us. More anti them going back on what he thought had been agreed. Aren't Leeds one of the favourites for Westwood? Most rumours seem to say he's going Sunderland.
Haydos Posted 22 June 2011 Posted 22 June 2011 Spot on. This is money wasted on a player who is one of Sven's favourites but is in truth no better than what we have already. Too many people on here are fooled by the surname into thinking he is some sort of wonder keeper. Grayson has admitted publicly he is more than happy to let Kasper go and that he feels there are better options out there. I agree with him, but if this happens I will put my opinions to one side and give the bloke a fair crack of the whip to prove himself. However I fear a defensive spine based on Kasper and Bamba would be fragile to put it politely. Where did all this 'fooled by the surname' bollocks come from? I have NO idea what it means? Nobody's said he's going to come in and eventually make it as one of the best keepers in the world, most think that it's a good signing as it's better than what we've got and there's not many better options out there. Give it a rest.

Leeds are replacing Kasper with Paul Rachubka which seems slightly strange!

Ross 'LCFC' Turner Posted 22 June 2011 Posted 22 June 2011 http://www.thebluearmy.co.uk/news/Sven-key-Kasper-Schmeichel-joining-Leicester-City/article-3669641-detail/article.html Sven-Goran Eriksson holds the key to whether Kasper Schmeichel decides to join Leicester City, the goalkeeper's agent has said. Schmeichel's representative Tony Lymn said he will speak to City in the next couple of days about a possible move from Leeds United to the Walkers Stadium. Leeds publicly announced they had accepted an offer from City for an undisclosed fee, believed to be around £1million. Lymn admitted Schmeichel was still shocked by the way he discovered that Leeds were willing to sell him – the Yorkshire club announced it on their website on Monday – and said they needed time to take stock of the situation. However, Lymn said the fact that Eriksson wanted to work with Schmeichel, son of Manchester United legend Peter Schmeichel, was extremely flattering. "Kasper has the upmost respect for Sven, because he has worked for him in the past and, if he decided to join Leicester, then it will be because of Sven," said Lymn. "Kasper has worked with Sven at Manchester City and Notts County, and he rates him very highly as a manager. "Sven is also a manager who looks after his players well. "It is very flattering that Sven has come in for Kasper and we understand Leicester have some big plans for the future. "We will probably open a dialogue with Leicester in the next few days." The news that Leeds had accepted City's bid for Schmeichel is sure to generate interest in the 24-year-old from other clubs, and Lymn said they would take their time to consider all options. "As Kasper said in his statement on Monday, he was not looking to leave Leeds and it is always disappointing when you are told you are being sold," added Lymn. "We are aware there will be interest because he is a good player. We must now consider what to do and think it through." Most players we have signed / been linked with have only been attracted because of sven. This is abit worrying IMO because if sven fails to get it rite this season and is sacked / doesnt sign a new contract we will be left with a squad that doesnt want to play for Leicester.
Corky Posted 22 June 2011 Posted 22 June 2011 It's not that he doesn't want to join, it's that Sven will be a huge influence over his decision. I see no problem with that, I want a manager with the pulling power to attract players.

And the Fact that Romanos Pizza are still doing buy one get on free on deliveries.
markbsac Posted 22 June 2011 Posted 22 June 2011 the first question i would ask as a manager is "are you 100% committed and focused on getting LCFC promoted this year"...saying that if they are being paid 30k plus a week they will say anything, and so would you and me.
Craig Posted 22 June 2011 Posted 22 June 2011 Even if he would rather be at a bigger club (which he hasn't said), he's going to have to play well for us to get there. Lot of fuss over nothing.

Head Honcho Posted 22 June 2011 Posted 22 June 2011 http://www.leedsunited.com/news/20110621/gaffer-clarifies-schmeichel-decision_2247585_2379681 I think Grayson sums up my views on Kasper here.
teflon Posted 22 June 2011 Posted 22 June 2011 From a Leeds point of view, Kasper is a quality keeper in this division and for us to let him go can only be down to one of two reasons... 1. We have someone even better lined up. 2. Bates is a stingy git and will try to get a squad together for next year on the money brought in from this sale. The correct answer is probably 2. Bates is also an objectionable arse who cannot help but rub people up the wrong way. I think you guys should realise (as a number of you clearly do) that Kasper's comments are the result of finding out via the Leeds website that he's not going to be a Leeds player next year. It's not so much that he doesn't want to play for Leicester, but that he's shocked at the shabby way Bates has treated him. As soon as last season finished Bates said that Johnson & Kilkenny had to go because they were not good enough to play in a side chasing promotion - nice one Ken, that's the way to get a good price for them, and to thank them for their service (both of them are decent players BTW) If Kasper comes to you guys, you will be happy with his performance and commitment

He's an improvement on what we have IMO and a lot of your fans seem to think he'll go on to bigger and better things which sits alright with me. Must be a worry for you who you're going to bring in? I don't think Westwood is on the cards tbh and Rachubka and Brown can't be inspiring too much confidence. Will be interested to see who you land and if Grayson has dropped the ball on this with what he's been quoted as saying.

We actually have a decent Leeds fan that posts on here. I feel sorry for your club, bates seems like a right **** from what I've read on WACCOE. Investing money in a hotel instead of players? Shutting the Upper Tier of Elland Road to make more exectuive boxes when you could of made the play-offs and resulting a loss in revenue of 8,000 tickets at £x ammount each?
dbtcity Posted 22 June 2011 Posted 22 June 2011 In all fairness probably 80% of are signings will be signing for us due to the Sven factor, I can't see the problem with that once they are here they will love the place!!!! (hopefully)

Mickey O'Neil Posted 22 June 2011 Posted 22 June 2011 Rob Tanner just said there's no interest in the Egyptian or Hudds keeper. I'm hoping this goes through now, although I'm not a Weale-hater like a lot of people seem to be.
Madrid_Fox Posted 22 June 2011 Posted 22 June 2011 Been looking at Kasper's twitter page every 20 minutes looking for an update. According to the Mercury his agent doesnt think that we will open contract negotiations for a few more days (if we get that far). Would love to see him in goal on August 6th in a Leicester shirt
Danny the Fox 95 Posted 22 June 2011 Posted 22 June 2011 fourth official twitter-Leeds have sold kasper schmeichel!
