Wait, hold it - do I spot a glimpse of self-irony in the tone of a Yorkshireman?

Leeds lost their character right around the time you employed O'Leary.

He doesn't want to join you... he wants to run his contract down at leeds so he can get a move to the premiership next season, have you not read his statement?

If he is not that good according to you, why would Leeds want him to run down his contract ? So he must be deluded as as well if he wants to play in the Premier league!!

Grayson tells Schmeichel: You were sold because you weren't good enough

Simon Grayson has blasted back at Kasper Schmeichel’s claim that he is being driven out of Leeds by telling the unhappy keeper: You’re on your bike because you are not good enough.

Schmeichel, 24, is on his way to Championship rivals Leicester after the Elland Road outfit accepted a £1.2million offer for him from Foxes boss Sven Goran Eriksson.

Schmeichel is upset at being dumped just a year after joining from Notts County. But United chief Grayson made it clear last night that he wants a new No1 after the Dane conceded 70 league goals last season.

Only relegated trio Preston, Sheffield United and Scunthorpe, along with Leicester, Derby, Watford and Doncaster, let in more Championship goals.

And Grayson revealed:”If no bid had come in for Kasper, it would not have changed the position that we were looking for another goalkeeper.

“It is an area I have always been looking to strengthen because we have to make ourselves better, and I have spoken to Kasper to explain my position.

“Trying to improve the back five is something we have been looking at. When you concede the number of goals that we did, then it is obviously an area where one or two players are vulnerable and we need to change it around slightly.

“I am always looking to improve. Nobody’s position is safe because I am looking to do better than last year, and that is the line I am going down. You have to do that.

“There are good options for goalkeepers out there, so this was a footballing decision first and foremost. When Kasper goes, we have other alternatives that will make us better and keep us progressing.”

Grayson has made Keiren Westwood, who is out of contract at Coventry at the end of this month, his top choice to replace Schmeichel. But Sunderland are favourites to land the former Carlisle stopper, 26, because they can offer him Premier League football.

If Grayson misses out on Westwood, he will switch his sights on Burnley’s Lee Grant, who is unsettled at Turf Moor after losing his first-team place to Brian Jensen towards the end of last term.

Former Derby and England under-21 international Grant,28, cost the Clarets £500,000 from Sheffield Wednesday 11 months ago, and they would want their money back to allow him to leave for Leeds.

Just reading the above from the bbc sport gossip page.

Not good enough, can you actually blame him from letting in all the goals or the defence which was full of loans, our back four was more secure with our loans and Bamba while Leeds were signing loans about every week in January and February, and seemed unsettled at times.

Schmeichel is decent, he kept Leeds in a couple of games last season, bit wary with his crossing but one of the best shot stoppers in this division.

Leeds fans need to wake up and realise its not 1974 any more. Yes you were a massive club, congratulations for that however you were never champions of europe. Nearly all the leeds fans I know are arrogant as anything always living in the past.

How bitter are they at loosing Schmeichel? He's an excellent keeper, he conceeded 70 goals last season? Its about 80(defence)-20(keeper) fault there. You could put Valdes, Casillas or who ever behind that Leeds defence still the same out come.

Any how I hope the £1million+ earns Mr Bates a lot of interest in his bank account because that money isn't going to be invested in the Leeds Squad. Maybe it can build them some more hotel rooms on the new hotel at Elland Road? :crylaugh:

Leeds United have no ambition what so ever.

Anyone thought that Grayson's comments may really spur Kasper on to become even better and to stick to fingers up at him with incredible performances for us next season (if he signs)

I think Grayson has made right royal feck up here...

"Skysports.com understands that Leeds United's mystery goalkeeping target is former Blackpool player Paul Rachubka.

Elland Road boss Simon Grayson revealed earlier on Tuesday that a deal had been agreed with an unnamed shot-stopper last week, subject to a medical.

The news came in the wake of Monday's surprise decision to accept a bid from Championship rivals Leicester City for Kasper Schmeichel.

Grayson has said that the Schmeichel deal represents good business for the club, but he is also reshaping his squad in order to challenge for promotion to the Premier League.

And it is understood that Rachubka, who is available on a free transfer, has been identified as one of the men to improve the former top-flight club's squad.

The 30-year-old played just three matches for Blackpool last season, including the FA Cup defeat at Southampton and Premier League losses to Sunderland and Everton, conceding nine goals in the process."

I love to see other teams' forums getting all worked up over this. Even Forest have a fairly big thread going on about our proposed deal for Schmeichel! Everybody is having a little shit in their pants because they know we'll be a force to be reckoned with next season! :scarf:

Leicester just got mentioned on an Australian Sports site "Foxes look to flex their finacial muscle" :chant:

It is very rare a team not in the EPL gets mentioned ever so this is a big deal.

Found it.

FOXES FLEXING FINANCIAL MUSCLE

Leicester City, among the pre-season favourites to gain promotion from the nPower Championship to the Barclays Premier League, are ready to splash the cash in their bid to find soccer's promised land.

Foxes manager Sven-Goran Eriksson has an "unlimited" transfer budget, and he is believed to be close to signing goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel, son of Manchester United legend Peter, from Leeds United.

United officials have announced they have decided to sell the 24-year-old Dane after accepting an undisclosed offer from City, believed to be around £1 million - a bargain for the best goalkeeper in England outside the Premier League.

City, however, are yet to convince Bristol City to part company with record signing Nicky Maynard.

Leicester tabled a weekend bid for the star striker, believed to be around £3 million, but Robins chairman Colin Sexstone said that Maynard was not for sale - certainly not to another Championship club.

The Foxes are further believed to be close to signing rising star Lee Peltier from Huddersfield Town after the Terriers accepted an undisclosed bid.

Eriksson is believed to have as many as 12 players in his sights, but England prospect Kyle Naughton, who starred on loan from Tottenham Hotspur last season, is considered to be overpriced at £5 million +.

Will Schmeichel join the Leicester revolution? Have your say!
