I have a feeling that this may be a disaster in the making. Not convinced by him at all. Weale has pulled off world class saves before but nobody wants him near the team anymore (except when Ricardo is playing!!) because of the errors. People are already expecting too much from him and the first error he makes (and he will make a few) expect chants of WEEEEUUULLL, WEEEEUUULLL!
GradelnextBatesout Posted 22 June 2011 Posted 22 June 2011 Paul Rachubka is only coming in to be our back-up, we have been link to loads over the 2 days so far i have seen Jason Brown Paul Rachubka Matt Duke Keiron Westwood Chris Maxwell Lee Grant Tomasz Kuszczak David Gonzalez Scott Carson Paul Robinson Chris Kirkland Fraser Forste here's the latest link!! Leeds bid to grab Forster LEEDS boss Simon Grayson is preparing a £1.5m bid for keeper Fraser Forster after losing Kasper Schmeichel to Leicester. Forster, 23, impressed on loan at Celtic last season and Neil Lennon wants to keep him. Grayson is ready to move and end the shotstopper's five-year career at Newcastle.
Mack Posted 22 June 2011 Posted 22 June 2011 He may well be right. I have a feeling that this may be a disaster in the making. Not convinced by him at all. People are already expecting too much from him and the first error he makes (and he will make a few) expect chants of WEEEEUUULLL, WEEEEUUULLL! Spot on. This is money wasted on a player who is one of Sven's favourites but is in truth no better than what we have already. Too many people on here are fooled by the surname into thinking he is some sort of wonder keeper. Grayson has admitted publicly he is more than happy to let Kasper go and that he feels there are better options out there. I agree with him, but if this happens I will put my opinions to one side and give the bloke a fair crack of the whip to prove himself. However I fear a defensive spine based on Kasper and Bamba would be fragile to put it politely.
MikeyT Posted 22 June 2011 Posted 22 June 2011 Leeds fans need to wake up and realise its not 1974 any more. Yes you were a massive club, congratulations for that however you were never champions of europe. Nearly all the leeds fans I know are arrogant as anything always living in the past. How bitter are they at loosing Schmeichel? He's an excellent keeper, he conceeded 70 goals last season? Its about 80(defence)-20(keeper) fault there. You could put Valdes, Casillas or who ever behind that Leeds defence still the same out come. Any how I hope the £1million+ earns Mr Bates a lot of interest in his bank account because that money isn't going to be invested in the Leeds Squad. Maybe it can build them some more hotel rooms on the new hotel at Elland Road? Leeds United have no ambition what so ever. Reminds me of a handful of Forest fans i know. Going on about past glories from decades ago.

Babylon Posted 22 June 2011 Posted 22 June 2011 Every keeper makes a few clangers, I'm not so much bothered about that. But how often Weale let goals in from distance can't be a coincidence, if he manages to cut a few of them out then great.
Nick Posted 22 June 2011 Posted 22 June 2011 So how good is Schmeichel? First it would be impossible to lure him away. Next people are saying that if it happened we'd all be euphoric. Then a bid of a million or so goes in and Leeds say "take him away" Then Kasper says err sorry I wasn't offered a new contract and was alright where I was. Grayson says you're not that good mate "coff" and we couldn't risk you leaving for nothing in 2012-2013 season. Leeds fans are a mixed bunch about the whole affair. Leicester are not sure whether to have a party or just train Weale to stop long shots. In Sven Youtube we trust. I'm gonna need some Kasper footage.
sphericalfox Posted 22 June 2011 Posted 22 June 2011 Where's this interview that Tanner promised on his twitter with Kaspar's agent. Is it in the paper this morning?
danlcfc4ever Posted 22 June 2011 Posted 22 June 2011 Kaspers more consistant than Weale. Don't get me wrong... in the past Weale has been quality but just too many errors. I personally think his confidence has gone in a City shirt and would benefit from a transfer.
MrSpaM Posted 22 June 2011 Posted 22 June 2011 http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11688_6999891,00.html The 30-year-old played just three matches for Blackpool last season, including the FA Cup defeat at Southampton and Premier League losses to Sunderland and Everton, conceding nine goals in the process." Wow now i can see why they've just got rid of one of the best keepers in the division, it all makes sense now!
Callabinho Posted 22 June 2011 Posted 22 June 2011 Its funny how grayson feels it is his keeper that needs to be changed. Against us his defence parted like the red sea when Vassell burst though to be brought down, and for the second goal no body closed Kingy down but you name me a goal keeper who would have saved that shot in this division?
Happy Fox Posted 22 June 2011 Posted 22 June 2011 http://www.thebluearmy.co.uk/news/Sven-key-Kasper-Schmeichel-joining-Leicester-City/article-3669641-detail/article.html Sven-Goran Eriksson holds the key to whether Kasper Schmeichel decides to join Leicester City, the goalkeeper's agent has said. Schmeichel's representative Tony Lymn said he will speak to City in the next couple of days about a possible move from Leeds United to the Walkers Stadium. Leeds publicly announced they had accepted an offer from City for an undisclosed fee, believed to be around £1million. Lymn admitted Schmeichel was still shocked by the way he discovered that Leeds were willing to sell him – the Yorkshire club announced it on their website on Monday – and said they needed time to take stock of the situation. However, Lymn said the fact that Eriksson wanted to work with Schmeichel, son of Manchester United legend Peter Schmeichel, was extremely flattering. "Kasper has the upmost respect for Sven, because he has worked for him in the past and, if he decided to join Leicester, then it will be because of Sven," said Lymn. "Kasper has worked with Sven at Manchester City and Notts County, and he rates him very highly as a manager. "Sven is also a manager who looks after his players well. "It is very flattering that Sven has come in for Kasper and we understand Leicester have some big plans for the future. "We will probably open a dialogue with Leicester in the next few days." The news that Leeds had accepted City's bid for Schmeichel is sure to generate interest in the 24-year-old from other clubs, and Lymn said they would take their time to consider all options. "As Kasper said in his statement on Monday, he was not looking to leave Leeds and it is always disappointing when you are told you are being sold," added Lymn. "We are aware there will be interest because he is a good player. We must now consider what to do and think it through."

As I say, it's spin on New Labour levels. The truth is that Grayson will use the money from this sale to fund improvements to his defence, and Bates is too stingy to fund this from his own pocket. So he sells their keeper, brings in a cheap replacement and pretends Schmeichel wasn't up to scratch to deflect criticism from the fans and tries to bolster his defence with any remaining cash. The word on WACCOE is that Grayson is very much Bates' dancing bear. Either that or Larry is an imbecile who really does believe Schmeichel was to blame for Leeds' defensive frailties last season.
artursteppe Posted 22 June 2011 Posted 22 June 2011 If he does not want to come to us, he can do the other thing and p1ss off. I only want to give my full support to players who actually want it ie those who actually want to wear a Leicester City shirt. Any player or agent who wants to trawl themselves around for the best deal can bollocks. That sort of approach from players is a very strong indicator of someone deficient in attributes Sven will be looking for, such as desire, hunger, determination and the strength of character needed to be a 'winner'. Poncing around the market place demonstrates those attributes normally found in 'losers' who have a higher opinion of their abilities than they should have.

I'd put my faith in Sven to make the decision as to wether Kasper wants to come to city and play his heart out. Sven's man management side will be massive in this case.
MrSpaM Posted 22 June 2011 Posted 22 June 2011 Leeds fans make me laugh, the opinions there putting across on our forum are the complete opposite to what their saying on their own forum. Most of them are now calling for their chairman’s head by the looks of it, a lot of them seem to think he's cashing in on Kasper to pay some legal fee's or something. And now they all seem to think Shay Given is a dead cert to be signing for them next season Has anybody else seen how much they are charging for season tickets at ER next season as well?!? Leeds fans are getting there pants pulled down!
beduffrich Posted 22 June 2011 Posted 22 June 2011 Didn't you lot boo the friendly ghost like crazy when he was there with leeds last season? I seem to remember he fumbled a fair few too?

Leeds fans are getting there pants pulled down! maybe you should Google Ken Bates then you will see why we want him out!!! it has nothing to do with Schmeichel going. the reason most are p-off is because the money will disappear (with our season ticket money) to offshore account and never be seen again!!

A player isn't showing he lacks hunger and ambition by seeing what is the best option for themselves. It's up to us as a club to sell OUR hunger and ambition to the player and make him want to be part of it.

Whilst I relate to what you say, you really are making far to much of this...... A good pro will look at his options and do what is best for him and his career, hopefully getting good advice from his agent. The kind of player we want will want to come to us because he sees a great opportunity to develope his career and be part of a successful side. He will be well paid too, very important but only part of the package. As a pro he will put in the effort to be successful both individually and for the team. With luck the team will do well, build a good spirit and the players will develope and improve forming an affection for the club, the manager etc. This is the ideal scenario, a win-win for everyone and the way that clubs at our level should attempt to operate. So to Kasper (and the rest) I say this. Take a good look around and see what is on offer and decide. If you come to City you will be well paid, working with a great manager and part of a team that is looking for a seriously successful season. If that is what you want then come here and give it your best shot, that's all that is asked.... If you just want the money, follow the Yak!

If they stick around, and we start getting the right results on the pitch, I think we may become quite an attractive team to play for
