Fourth_Official is 100% bang on

It can only be an agent, or a journo who's got agents on speed dial

On what basis are you saying he is 100% bang on?

What he said.

David Nugent set to join Leicester City

LEICESTER CITY boss Sven Goran Eriksson is set to agree terms with England one-cap wonder David Nugent – at the launch of a huge signing bonanza.

Nugent, 26, is a free agent after leaving Portsmouth and Leicester are the only club in the Championship who can match his old Premier League wages.

Eriksson is prepared to pay £2.5million apiece for two more strikers – Fulham’s Andy Johnson and Peterborough’s Craig Mackail-Smith. He also wants Jonathan Woodgate, released by Tottenham.

West Ham have apparently secured Craig Mackail-Smith signiture, or are at least favourites to do so

If we had parted with £3 mill for him I would have been mad!

Too early to call anything crucial. It's not even July. Will be interesting to see what (if anything) is announced on the 1st.

Posted

think this week ahead could be crucial on a number of incomings / outgoings

Seems D-Day is 1st July (in as much we want the team together before pre-season) so I can only agree.

for the last couple of weeks a lot of you have slagged anyone off who dares to sugest july 1 as a day to watch. now its like this is the day all our dreams will come true

im currently trying to figure out how best to break all this news to my old man when he gets back from work so as not to give him a heart attack.

Posted just now on Football365. (I know it's often rubbish but interestingly has a quote from Cotterill saying.......

Cotterill added: "I haven't heard anything from David.

"I know he's away on holiday at the moment because somebody bumped into him the other day who I know.

"He hasn't told us what his decision is. But I think at the end of the day David will tell me as and when it is right. That situation hasn't stopped me going after other players, though."

The fact we have announced Danns before 1st July even though his contract runs out on 30th shows Nugent definitely isn't a done deal, take it he is still weighing his options.

Don't jump to conclusions. There's a lot going on at the club, just be patient.

Yeah, could be wrong but I think someone can sign before the 1st under the Bosman Ruling.

Agreed, I wasn't saying this in a negative way just pointing out we are not holding back on announcing the frees until Friday like some people thought.

Such a killjoy, join in with the rest of us and piss your pants with excitement.

Of all the multitude of strikers we've been linked with, Nugent is the one who excites me the least...at least since the Marlon King rumour thankfully died an early death.

OK, the bloke is decent in the air and half-decent on the ball, but he's certainly not a prolific goalscorer - or someone who'll fit in well with a flexible, passing, fast moving side, which I assume Sven is trying to build.

I suspect that in a few years time, history will tell that the peak of Nugent's career was a few years ago, when he did quite well for an over-achieving Preston side in the Championship. People will think the idea of him having been an England international as bizarre as Carlton Palmer, Paul Goddard etc.

Now, Mackail-Smith and Jong Tae-Se running defences ragged, with the likes of Gallagher, King, Danns, Vassell etc. using the space...that does excite me. £3m for CMS is a better deal than £0 for Nugent, IMHO!
