Little Nicky Posted 7 July 2011 Posted 7 July 2011 Yeah but imagine how mental everyone would go if they kept it all quite and then at the beginning of the 2nd half vs. Real Madrid the announcer pipes up "A Half-time substitution for Leicester, please welcome, making his home debut for the Foxes...... David ****ing Beckham!" I'd probably lose my shit right there. hahaha that would be immense, there might be a few St John's Ambulance guys needed on duty
NeilLCFC Posted 8 July 2011 Posted 8 July 2011 Think of the money from shirt sales in Asia. He has a HUGE fan base out there so would be worth his wages!
MPH Posted 8 July 2011 Posted 8 July 2011 Add to the fact that his mrs is about to have another baby... Leicester Royal Beckham. Nicer ring than Brooklin. Saffron is quite a trendy name these days....
jamiegoode Posted 8 July 2011 Posted 8 July 2011 If we could maybe pay him the wages he wanted, and was on loan etc could be great, wacking in a game winning free kick, lobing in a cross for heskey, nugent ( who ever we have up front) taking us on to win the championship with 15 goals, 36 assists, 2 yellows, 0 read, 27 man of match (To that's the beckham on my FMH 2011)
Jimmy Posted 8 July 2011 Posted 8 July 2011 If we could maybe pay him the wages he wanted, and was on loan etc could be great, wacking in a game winning free kick, lobing in a cross for heskey, nugent ( who ever we have up front) taking us on to win the championship with 15 goals, 36 assists, 2 yellows, 0 read, 27 man of match (To that's the beckham on my FMH 2011) his contract is up in November so he could come back for nothing on a permanent deal
The Year Of The Fox Posted 8 July 2011 Posted 8 July 2011 Never going to happen and i'd bloody cringe if he played for us. As someone said, it'd be a circus. The sad fact is him alone would cause a sell out at the stadium (as opposed to real madrid) The bloke to me is a legend, but legends are a thing of the past! If he came as a coach, then fantastic.
Buck1983 Posted 8 July 2011 Posted 8 July 2011 please no. We are actually starting to build a decent team now, lets not bring the circus to town. He looked poor 2 years back, fcuk knows what he like now. The championship is a big step up from the MLS. are you joking? He would walk straight into a premier league team maybe not first team, but nobody would refuse him if he asked to play for them accept fergie.. Plus spurs were trying there hardest to have him play for them in January and they were playing champions league no chance will he come to Leicester. We can only dream!
Itsthejoeker Posted 8 July 2011 Posted 8 July 2011 Gallagher > Beckham :crylaugh: :crylaugh: :crylaugh: Did i mention.... :crylaugh: :crylaugh: :crylaugh:
Dicko Posted 8 July 2011 Posted 8 July 2011 Maybe the owners/Sven are just name-dropping him to further signal that we mean business and more as a statement of intent, especially after the Mills signing yesterday. Beckham won't come here, he'll have offers from all over the world once his contract expires and with the best will in the world, a season in the Championship would be a way down the list. He's not got a desire to go into management/coaching. As someone has said in this thread, he's stated repeatedly that when he finishes playing he'll be working on developing his acadamies (from a business point of view, not a hands-on coaching point of view). Don't get me wrong, if this happened i'd be first in the queue for a Beckham replica shirt! He's still more than good enough for most Premiership teams never mind the Championship. But sadly, this is probably a pipe-dream too far.
Alexikokopops Posted 8 July 2011 Posted 8 July 2011 The only way it could possibly happen is if he had a desire to go into coaching and wanted to learn under Sven. Even then, I find that massively MASSIVELY unlikely.
Guest Posted 8 July 2011 Posted 8 July 2011 Or if he were born in Leicester and had a passion for the foxes.
Monk Posted 8 July 2011 Posted 8 July 2011 This has nothing to do with football and everything to do with merchendising, and growing the club's presence in Asia. Can the owner's pull it off? It's a high risk stunt, and we're talking about large sums of cash that we'd have to recouperate through promotion. I certainly wouldn't write this off, and commercially he would be an amazing signing, no matter what you think of his football.
accessory Posted 8 July 2011 Posted 8 July 2011 Gallagher > Beckham Indeed. Gally is 26 - Beckham is 36 and a VERY long way past his peak. Past glories don't bring Championship points.
Heskey2011 Posted 8 July 2011 Posted 8 July 2011 please no. We are actually starting to build a decent team now, lets not bring the circus to town. He looked poor 2 years back, fcuk knows what he like now. The championship is a big step up from the MLS. Maybe more popular than MLS but not a better standard of football. Watch it... you'll see
Kent Posted 8 July 2011 Posted 8 July 2011 Indeed. Gally is 26 - Beckham is 36 and a VERY long way past his peak. Past glories don't bring Championship points. Class is permanent. Not like he ever had any pace to lose.
okie fox Posted 8 July 2011 Posted 8 July 2011 Maybe more popular than MLS but not a better standard of football. Watch it... you'll see The MLS has some good players, but the teams are not as good as championship teams. The squads are filled up with ex-college players, who are nowhere near championship standard. Players who are washed up over here become stars over there.
gavboc Posted 8 July 2011 Posted 8 July 2011 Yeah but imagine how mental everyone would go if they kept it all quite and then at the beginning of the 2nd half vs. Real Madrid the announcer pipes up "A Half-time substitution for Leicester, please welcome, making his home debut for the Foxes...... PeterTaylorsApprentice Posted 8 July 2011 Posted 8 July 2011 Beckham has said himself he wants to see out his contract at Galaxy before considering his options, he won't be joining.
Stevosevic Posted 8 July 2011 Posted 8 July 2011 Maybe more popular than MLS but not a better standard of football. Watch it... you'll see The MLS is a very poor standard of football. I have watched many live games on TV and have taken in a handfull of live games in the States. The Championship is a massive step up from the MLS. Hence so many League 1 and League 2 rejects are making careers for themselves out there. Beckham, Angel, Donnovan are big exceptions to the rule.
accessory Posted 8 July 2011 Posted 8 July 2011 Class is permanent. Not like he ever had any pace to lose. He wouldn't fit into the team or be suited to this league. He may be able to outdo Gally occasionally at setpieces, but other than that has little to offer us.
