Guest MattP Posted 23 July 2011 Posted 23 July 2011 If it was a brown skinned Pakistani bloke all hell would have broken lose and every Muslim from Norway to Indonesia would have been blamed for it. But alas, it is just a lone right-wing conservative white guy. Nobody else's fault but him. As crass as it is you can understand peoples immediate reactions to bombings that is might be Al-Queda given the climate of fear people live in. I actually thought the news channels were excellent as not once did they say this was on the coverage I saw, they mentioned it obviously but also every time they made it clear it might be the work of domestic terrorists. I dont understand what more you can ask for. and has it been confirmed he is a "white right wing conservative" - not that we want to generalise on that either.
shen Posted 23 July 2011 Posted 23 July 2011 Oh my god... Police have just reported that there are AT LEAST 80 KILLED on Utøya alone! The name of the apprehended is now made official too. He is thought to have right-wing extremist views, and they shown his Facebook and Twitter pages on TV. It's sending shudders down my spine this is...
anotherharboroughfox Posted 23 July 2011 Posted 23 July 2011 http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-14259356 Norway police: 'Eighty killed' in island shootingAt least 80 people died when a gunman opened fire at an island youth camp in Norway, hours after a bomb attack on the capital, Oslo, police say. Oslo police are questioning a 32-year-old Norwegian man in connection with both attacks. The man was arrested on tiny Utoeya island outside Oslo, where police say he opened fire on teenagers. The earlier bomb attack killed at least seven people. The attacks are the worst Norway has seen since World War II. Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg, whose Oslo offices were among those badly hit by the blast, described the attacks as "bloody and cowardly". Hundreds of young people were attending a summer camp organised by the ruling Labour Party on Utoeya island. Eyewitnesses described how a man dressed as a policeman opened fire indiscriminately. Just awful.
MC Prussian Posted 23 July 2011 Author Posted 23 July 2011 The guy shot 80 people dead on the island??? This is insane! I guess most of them were young people, with their life still ahead of them. So, acooling08 - he's White, Right-Wing and Anti-Muslim. Any chance you two are friends?
vanfox12 Posted 23 July 2011 Posted 23 July 2011 My sympathies go out to all the victims of this horrible tragedy. It doesn't matter whether the guy is white and right wing what he has done is beyond comprehension and he deserves to roast in hell.
MrsJohnMurphy Posted 23 July 2011 Posted 23 July 2011 Genuinely shocking!!! My heart goes out to the Norwegian people. I'm just glad he's been taken alive to face some kind of justice. Although what kind of justice can pay for what he's done?
ozleicester Posted 23 July 2011 Posted 23 July 2011 I've got a fiver on it being those pesky muslims again. ........... Ahh fook it, i cant even begin to write it all down, you racist coont, you and everyone including our "perfect" bbc, who jumped to the same conclusions. edit, I think the Murdocks are behind it.
jonno24 Posted 23 July 2011 Posted 23 July 2011 At least 91 people dead now in both attacks this is something that me and the missus find particularly disturbing as her parents are originally from Skien in norway. Spent most of yesterday watching this on Sky News truly terrible.
MikeyT Posted 23 July 2011 Posted 23 July 2011 Words really do fail me when things like this happen in the world. How a human being can cause such pain and suffering to others is beyond my comprehension. My thoughts are with the Norwegian people and more specifically to those people that have been directly affected by this.
ramboacdc Posted 23 July 2011 Posted 23 July 2011 theres videos going round youtube of people recording near the island where there are bodies washing up on the shore or floating past them. obviously i will not link them as it is bloody horrible and i dont fancy a ban. really upset me. no family there, no links whatsoever, but the fact these kids were just going to what is basically a summer camp and get gunned down for believing in a political party breaks my heart. yeah i dont like members of the conservatives but i wont go gunning down their meetings. a website i go on tracked down the name of the killer late last night and got his FB and twitter. nothing out the ordinary apart from his twitter having just one tweet.
davieG Posted 23 July 2011 Posted 23 July 2011 There's much more to this than it being the work of one demented man, either it's a massive coincidence being him and a separate bomber(s) or this is the work of a well run organised group of like-minded fanatics and he's just the public face designed to cover/hide his fellow perpetrators.

There was talk that he had setup an agricultural firm so he could buy large volumes of fertiliser. Someone really organised could just possibly pull this horrific crime on their own. Truly evil.
davieG Posted 23 July 2011 Posted 23 July 2011 I thought he set the bomb up? He may well have done , apparently there may have been more than one bomb, I still don't believe this was the work of one individual, getting all the bomb materials, setting them up, getting what appears to be weapons that are not that easy to get hold of, getting the uniform, planning it all to near perfection to cause the utmost carnage and death just seems too much for one individual to manage especially as Norway are considered to be one of the better organised anti-terrorist countries. I may be wrong but that's my gut feeling, I could end up looking stupid though.

I agree , at the moment I find it very difficult to believe one lone nut could do this, but i suppose we'll need to wait and see. Even then the whole truth may never be fully revealed and we'll be fed with what they think we ought to be told Sometimes i just want to fook off out of this stupid world
stripeyfox Posted 23 July 2011 Posted 23 July 2011 This is truly a terrible day for Norway. My sister lives on the other side of the lake (where the island is). She and her family were coming over today for a holiday here and I am pleased to report that they have landed here safely this morning despite a very much diverted route to the airport because of road closure around the lake. They are now painting this guy as being some sort of "christian fundamentalist"; if he has managed to pull this off acting alone it is truly staggering. Thoughts and prayers with those affected by the bombing in Oslo and the shooting on Utoya

Narborough_fox Posted 23 July 2011 Posted 23 July 2011 I feel sick just reading about it. RIP all those have been killed in these horrific attacks.
Guest Bilo Posted 23 July 2011 Posted 23 July 2011 Absolutely awful hearing about this, what an absolute scumbag he is. RIP.
FoxyPV Posted 23 July 2011 Posted 23 July 2011 The front page of the Sun has reported that it was an Al-Qaeda attack in Norway. There's no way was it just one man. He'll have needed support etc in obtaining the weapons, making the bombs etc.
