The Doctor Posted 3 August 2011 Posted 3 August 2011 So that "massive" team rangers are out in the first qualifying round then?
Salieri Posted 3 August 2011 Posted 3 August 2011 Celtic will piss the SPL this year. McCoist is out of his depth.
MC Prussian Posted 3 August 2011 Author Posted 3 August 2011 Wait... Rangers are massive... losers!!!
MC Prussian Posted 3 August 2011 Author Posted 3 August 2011 At least Zurich made it through - 1-0 at home against Standard Liege. Other scores: BATE Borisov 3-1 Ekranas Shamrock Rovers 0-2 FC Copenhagen Panathinaikos 3-4 Odense BK Rubin Kazan 2-1 Dynamo Kyiv Malmö FF 1-1 Glasgow Rangers Vaslui 0-0 Twente Enschede Slovan Bratislava 0-2 APOEL Nicosia Viktoria Plzen 3-2 Rosenborg Trondheim Wisla Cracow 3-1 Litex Lovech Sturm Graz 1-0 Zestafoni Maribor 1-1 Maccabi Haifa Dinamo Zagreb 0-0 HJK Helsinki Partizan Belgrade 1-1 Genk Trabzonspor 1-1 Benfica Lisbon
Guest MattP Posted 3 August 2011 Posted 3 August 2011 Celtic will piss the SPL this year. McCoist is out of his depth. I said the same thing but the problem is they are both just as shit as each other. They have lost another tonight 2-0 to Swansea in addition to losing the last two games 2-0 at home to Wolves and Inter. Someone will struggle over the line and win it and it could either. Celtic have had the better squad for the last 3 years but havent had a manager that could live with Big Walter Lennon is a useless manager who can't control himself, McCoist will prove to be a useless manager who can't control himself. I don't think we will see either in the champs league again for a while.

Standard have a very useful squad and would've tipped them to do well this year. Rangers are embarrassing, not to belittle Malmö or anything. Spectacular result for OB as well, very unexpected.
The Year Of The Fox Posted 4 August 2011 Posted 4 August 2011 More than happy with this result. Who's going to be the one to go on their site and drag the thread about us out? 'wee club'

The mind boggles..
MC Prussian Posted 5 August 2011 Author Posted 5 August 2011 The playoff ties have now been set: Wisla Cracow - APOEL Nicosia Maccabi Haifa - KRC Genk Dinamo Zagreb - Malmö FF Copenhagen - Viktoria Plzen BATE Borisov - Sturm Graz Odense BK - Villareal CF Twente Enschede - Benfica Lisbon Arsenal - Udinese Gayern Munich - FC Zurich Lyon - Rubin Kazan Dream tie for Zurich, but they're more than likely going to lose twice against a heavily-favoured Gayern side.
shen Posted 18 August 2011 Posted 18 August 2011 results Wisla Cracow 1 - 0 APOEL Nicosia Maccabi Haifa 2 - 1 KRC Genk Dinamo Zagreb 4 - 1 Malmö FF Copenhagen 1 - 3 Viktoria Plzen BATE Borisov 1 - 1 Sturm Graz Odense BK 1 - 0 Villareal CF Twente Enschede 2 - 2 Benfica Lisbon Arsenal 1 - 0 Udinese Gayern Munich 2 - 0 FC Zurich Lyon 3 - 1 Rubin Kazan Some interesting results there! Lamey's team very close to clinching a CL group spot (who'd have thought that huh?), Rangers' conquerors destroyed by Zagreb, Copenhagen suffering a humiliating defeat to unknowns Plzen, Odense arguably with the performance of the round whilst Twente and Benfica served up a cracker! The return legs at Udinese, Genk, Graz, Lisbon and Villarreal should prove quite exciting.
MC Prussian Posted 18 August 2011 Author Posted 18 August 2011 Zurich never had a chance in the first place, but didn't take it. I know the standard of play is about two levels above the Swiss League, but at least they could've done a bit more to present themselves in a better light. Zurich were too defensive and lucky not to have been sent home with a 7-0 or 8-0 defeat. Mario Gomez wasted about three chances, Robben and Ribéry another two apiece. Hoping for a draw in the return leg and a good spell in the Europa League for the Swiss side. Wisla will get through for me (Lamey made probably the best move in his entire career - market value will skyrocket during the group stages). In the other games, I fancy Genk, Dinamo, Plzen, Borisov (simply because I can't stand Sturm Graz), Odense, Twente, Udinese  and Lyon.
MC Prussian Posted 23 August 2011 Author Posted 23 August 2011 Zurich had to bow down to Gayern, as expected. The Bavarians were simply two levels better in all aspects and it's only because of goalkeeper Leoni and the Munich side's wasted chances, that the result could be kept as low as 0-1. With all the fans' demand, the game at the Letzigrund Stadium could've been sold out twice its capacity if I'm not mistaken, but to be honest, I'm not much of an FC Zurich fan and I didn't really feel like paying £80 for the cheapest seats in the stadium. Gomez dispersed of all the local hope of a result as early as the 7th minute. Gayern, without Arje Robben, scored first and never looked back. Ribéry, Schweinsteiger were pretty much more than the entire Zurich defense could handle. Especially Ribéry was a beast on the left flank, the guy has stamina for two. Zurich too respectful, too limited in resources, too timid and only created some danger via free-kicks. Oh well, there's always the Europa League. Total scores after the first five second leg results: Wisla Cracow 2-3 APOEL Nicosia Maccabi Haifa 3-3 KRC Genk Dinamo Zagreb 4-3 Malmö FF Odense BK 1-3 Villareal CF Gayern Munich 3-0 FC Zurich Odense held out for 50 minutes, but Villareal were simply too strong and forced their way into this year's Champions League with an almost all-attack approach. Odense's German goalkeeper Stefan Wessels (who, believe it or not, once was on trial at Leicester City FC ) kept the Danish side in the game with countless parades, but ultimately, Villareal's first goal was down to a goalkeeping error. And Michael Lamey's dream of Champions League football has also come to an end, plus he was booked in the return leg against Nicosia. *4-3 on aggregate for Genk after beating Haifa 4-1 on penalties
Jaspa Posted 24 August 2011 Posted 24 August 2011 You Jelle bro? FM leg end scored again On the side note: Carnt wait to see Lukaku for Chelsea(CL IK) and if Fiorentina are in anything; Babacar!!!!! Raggh!

Amin Posted 24 August 2011 Posted 24 August 2011 Fernebache have been withdrawn from the Champions League because of match fixing: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/14656932.stm
Webbo Posted 24 August 2011 Posted 24 August 2011 Nobody congratulating Arsenal's impressive display and progress into the group stages?
MC Prussian Posted 24 August 2011 Author Posted 24 August 2011 Final five playoff games have been played (total score): Copenhagen 2-5 Viktoria Plzen BATE Borisov 4-2 Sturm Graz Twente Enschede 3-5 Benfica Lisbon Arsenal 3-1 Udinese Lyon 4-2 Rubin Kazan All Danish clubs gone, surprised to see powerhouse Købnhavn getting hammered by a rather unknown Czech side. Graz not in the Champions League, thanks BATE. (The only good thing to come out of Belarus these days, apart from their hockey team maybe) Plzen, Borisov, Benfica, Arsenal and Lyon will join Nicosia, Genk, Dinamo Zagreb, Villareal and Gayern for the Champions League group stages draw tomorrow Thursday evening 5pm GMT. And yes, Fenerbahçe had to withdraw and are now replaced with Trabzonspor. Much more sympathetic, anyway.
Jaspa Posted 24 August 2011 Posted 24 August 2011 ??? There's only 1 pro footballer in the world with 'Jelle' as one of his names, and he scored lastnight . . . For Genk 'You Jelly Bro?' - Internet slang & what I used to say when I had him on FM11

Jaspa Posted 25 August 2011 Posted 25 August 2011 Jelle Van Damme is a footballer as well. Sorry to burst your bubble. No bubble! I'm all about new things, and I only made that 'Only Pro' pish up in 2secs. Vossen does look he could end up quite good. What are the odds of Belgium getting to a major final in the next 15years? Some money in that! Two reasons to say 'You Jelle Bro?' now, thnx
