Bryn Posted 28 July 2011 Posted 28 July 2011 This kid had, and probably still has bags of talent but I expect this one to be a slow burner. I expect to be frustrated and bemused before he comes good. It's a huge move for him though, he badly needs to get his career back on track, after two years out with injuries and an alleged battle with booze and his weight. If he comes good he'll be fantastic and potentially a permanent signing, or it could go belly up.

Nick Posted 28 July 2011 Posted 28 July 2011 Indeed I did, just cant keep up. ------------------ Schmeical Pantsil ----- Mills ------ Bamba --------Konchesky ----------------- Fernandez -----Wellens ------------------- Danns -------------King ---------Johnson --------------------Nugent Weale Peltier Ball Tunchev St. Ledger Berner Dyer Oakley Abe Moussa Vassell Waghorn Gallagher Howard Unbelievable................. Sticking Townsend on the right in place of Wellens (Personally I can't believe Wellens is a sub this season, look how far we have come) and take a look at the pace in that side - my only reservations in that side right now is Bamba who is a wild card despite the fact I think he's great on his day and Nugent who I simply haven't seen enough of to have a balanced and informed opinion on as a prospect.
Ric Flair Posted 28 July 2011 Posted 28 July 2011 Very similar in style to Mark Davies, who also was out for 2 years with injuries prior to his successful loan spell with us. Johnson has that extra something in his game that can win us crucial matches, which is what you need for a promotion push.
Callabinho Posted 28 July 2011 Posted 28 July 2011 He could potentially be the best signing. note he is actually fit and ready, Man city just haven't been playing him.

Burmesefox Posted 28 July 2011 Posted 28 July 2011 Radio Leicester were saying that it's a permanent transfer this morning.
Nick Posted 28 July 2011 Posted 28 July 2011 Radio Leicester were saying that it's a permanent transfer this morning. Yeah but, that's radio Leicester - I hope everybody else is wrong...... but I doubt it.
drc Posted 28 July 2011 Posted 28 July 2011 I'm sure Sven isn't stupid enough to NOT ask Mancini of his opinion of MJ:s current state. If we sign him on loan I guess that Mancini said to Sven that MJ is good now but not good enough to fit in Manchester City team. Kasper and Michael Ballo was also at Man City as the same time as Johnson, Fernandes too so it's good he knows some people. I'd also like the idea of getting Maynard and letting Waggy go and take Guidetti on loan
Number 6 Posted 28 July 2011 Posted 28 July 2011 Would love it if it were a permo. This guy definitely has the potential to be a good Premier League player.
MGLCFC Posted 28 July 2011 Posted 28 July 2011 LM suggests it's a season long loan and he passed his medical last night (also says he's a defensive midfielder)
Callabinho Posted 28 July 2011 Posted 28 July 2011 LM suggests it's a season long loan and he passed his medical last night (also says he's a defensive midfielder) He is just a CM, neither defensive or attacking, he plays his best in the middle of a 4-4-2, he is a starter that's for sure!
Jimbo Posted 28 July 2011 Posted 28 July 2011 He is just a CM, neither defensive or attacking, he plays his best in the middle of a 4-4-2, he is a starter that's for sure! A fit and firing Michael Johnson would be amongst the best players in this league
dpjfox Posted 28 July 2011 Posted 28 July 2011 if he can achieve half of the talent he was then we have just signed the best player in this league by a country mile
Callabinho Posted 28 July 2011 Posted 28 July 2011 if he can achieve half of the talent he was then we have just signed the best player in this league by a country mile Form is temporary...Class is permanent, this boy has class.
who ate all the lies Posted 28 July 2011 Posted 28 July 2011 Hi Fella's. Im a City fan (manc) just had a little look at the johnson thread. If its worth anything, this is the two penneth of the mancity faithfull. IF you get Johnson, If he settles in, IF he stays fit, IF he keeps his weight off, IF he is given support to make his mistakes, experiment, get to know his team mates.................you will have THE most tallented player in your division if not in the midlands, on form the lad is quite simply unplayable, he can pass, he can shoot short and long, he has that drifting past oposition thing while seemingly not running fast that only a few players have, he tracks back, he can play wide, down the middle, maybe even up front. Belive me, from a fan who has been to the bottom of hell and back with his team, this lad is exactly the sort of player who you lot need to get behind while you make your way back to wear you should be. Dont moan, it COULD be amazing..........

But to hear from a fan the sort of comments you have made will make most off us (should be all of us) really excited. We have a great ownership partnered with a supreme Manager and now a squad with Premier League Quality players. Now we just need a striker or 2 and promotion looks good. Good luck to Man City also, this year you look awsome now with KUN!!!

I know its a couple of big IFs about him keeping fit and keeping the weight off, but I reckon with Sven at the helm, he will be able to do it, and I agree, if he manages to fit in, he will be incredible! All the best to your lot this year, I've actually put some money on you for the league
sdb Posted 28 July 2011 Posted 28 July 2011 When was the last time he played 90 mins competitively? Anyone know??

Austin Posted 28 July 2011 Posted 28 July 2011 Thanks i think we are the Man City of the championship ATM They've got some really good strikers y'know
John Matrix Posted 28 July 2011 Posted 28 July 2011 one of their strikers just cost almost 10 times more than we've spent in this transfer window

This is exactly what Wolves fans were saying to us about Mark Davies when we took him and they are quite similar in style, except Johnson has the ability to be streets ahead of Davies. KEEN
