Darkon84 Posted 10 August 2011 Posted 10 August 2011 yes, it sounds a bit like Hegelian "problem reaction solution" Paradigm that is often used in conspiracy theory by Alex Jones, Jim Marrs etc etc and as you say it may be worth bearing in mind , not just for these events but always Thats the one, and it actually makes sense. I suggest people look in to it. I think I first heard it from David Icke (spelling), not sure though. Glad I'm not the only one looking at it from a different angle. Though I'm sure it's actually just that our government is shite haha, but it provides a good talking point
davieG Posted 10 August 2011 Posted 10 August 2011 There will be a few token gesture heavy sentences, the rest will get of with suspended sentences and fines. Would put money on that one. Well they've got the means to get the money for the fines now. Perhaps all the proceeds from the fines should go to those people that have had property stolen or destroyed.
21st Century Fox Posted 10 August 2011 Posted 10 August 2011 Well they've got the means to get the money for the fines now. Perhaps all the proceeds from the fines should go to those people that have had property stolen or destroyed. Government coffers more like.
Babylon Posted 10 August 2011 Posted 10 August 2011 Perhaps all the proceeds from the fines should go to those people that have had property stolen or destroyed. Nah, that will all be used to pay out to rioters who got hit or pushed over by the police.
Zingari Posted 10 August 2011 Posted 10 August 2011 Thats the one. I think I first heard it from David Icke (spelling), not sure though. Glad I'm not the only one looking at it from a different angle. Though I'm sure it's actually just that our government is shite, but it provides a good talking point indeed it does , just google something like Hegelian thesis antithesis synthethis and there loads of sites with explanations and examples of its workings throughout history
MC Prussian Posted 10 August 2011 Posted 10 August 2011 Question is, where are all of these people going to go (lack of prison places) and if they do go in, what the hell are they going to be like when they come out? I don't think prolonged Community Service (under police surveillance) is such a bad idea. If you can't pay it back, at least show the respect and rebuild what you've destroyed.
DJ Barry Hammond Posted 10 August 2011 Posted 10 August 2011 I see the Lybian and Iranian press are having a field day with this (good job the army wasn't sent in).

If you can't pay it back, at least show the respect and rebuild what you've destroyed. Well I too would go for this approach, but this is not a populist view and I sense the Tories will want to use this as an opportunity to look tough on crime, hence the 'providing prison places' quote by Cameron this morning.
Houdini Logic Posted 10 August 2011 Posted 10 August 2011 They looked pretty adept at smashing windows in Just tell them there are reebok classics and multipack of pom-bear under the rocks, seemed to do the trick the other night

Houdini Logic Posted 10 August 2011 Posted 10 August 2011 There will be a few token gesture heavy sentences, the rest will get of with suspended sentences and fines. Would put money on that one. Usually I would agree, but I genuinely think it will be different this time. The government were shit scared about these events and they don't want to do this to 'punish' these people, they literally want to get them off the streets. If the government don't use this opportunity to get 1,000 moronic chav thugs off the streets, then it's a serious chance missed.

To put 1000 people away they need to build a new prison or release some people pretty sharpish then!
Guest MattP Posted 10 August 2011 Posted 10 August 2011 I have no problem building more prisons at all. These people do have to be sent down, the chaos and destruction this has caused can only mean that, you cannot have people engaging in this sort of behaviour and then send out the message after if you are caught you won't be going to jail.
Darkon84 Posted 10 August 2011 Posted 10 August 2011 David Icke talks shite........and he played in goal for the Chavs! I didnt say I was his biggest fan or anything, just saying thats where I first heard of it.
Guest Bilo Posted 10 August 2011 Posted 10 August 2011 Community service is the answer for me. Be it litter picking, painting fences or picking up dog shit let the idiots see how much hard work goes into making a community safe, clean and livable. Prison will see them fall even further into criminality in my view.
acooling08 Posted 10 August 2011 Posted 10 August 2011 I reckon community service would be an excellent punishment because they would have to work hard to clean up the mess they've made. They'd still be shits at the end of it, bit putting them in prison will mix them in with more serious criminals.
Bellend Sebastian Posted 10 August 2011 Posted 10 August 2011 They should be put to work making a giant statue of me. Imagine, a huge bronze Bellend
Houdini Logic Posted 10 August 2011 Posted 10 August 2011 To put 1000 people away they need to build a new prison or release some people pretty sharpish then! It's only an extra 1-2 percent of our current prison population - put two to a room, hire a prison boat, build a prison, etc... We're talking about a leading government here - there are options and they should use them.
Guest Bilo Posted 10 August 2011 Posted 10 August 2011 They should be put to work making a giant statue of me. Imagine, a huge bronze Bellend Amsterdam did it.

Bellend Sebastian Posted 10 August 2011 Posted 10 August 2011 Amsterdam did it. No riots there. Coincidence?
Smudge Posted 10 August 2011 Posted 10 August 2011 Amsterdam did it. I hope that's only a water fountain
surrifox Posted 10 August 2011 Posted 10 August 2011 Nah, that will all be used to pay out to rioters who got hit or pushed over by the police. and you know that is just what will happen Cameron is saying that they have given the go ahead to the police to use baton rounds and water canon- wonder what is the going rate of compo for getting a plastic bullet up the ar$e
Babylon Posted 10 August 2011 Posted 10 August 2011 wonder what is the going rate of compo for getting a plastic bullet up the ar$e Dunno but some people pay good money for that kind of thing.
