DJ Barry Hammond Posted 10 August 2011 Posted 10 August 2011 Haha nope, sorry. I've not trawled through the previous pages, but I'd be surprised if he hadn't posted something similar It does make you think though The police standing off is more a stance to ensure presence is maintained and they're not wading into a crowded situation, they'll pick them off this morning in small groups. The slow reaction of the government is due to them being out of touch.

It still makes you think though. What you said is much more realistic and closer to the truth ( ) though. The unwillingness of the government to use any kind of actual force just shows how much of a pansy light-touch country we have become. Sometimes, perhaps, is it not necessary to take one step backwards, in order to take two steps forward?
Dr The Singh Posted 10 August 2011 Posted 10 August 2011 Yeah but Sikhs all have bloody swords, the best I could muster up is a pair of scissors and a blunt kitchen knife. El Empty is that you? On Sky News yesterday, Sikhs in Southall protected the Mosque while muslims prayed inside, there maybe some postives to this, it's bringing communities together, only together we can get rid of this curse Babs you could play paper, blunt scissor, kitchen knife with them!! It's not weapons its courage we need, just a presence of a few will be enough to deter these cowards!!! UK police is a laughing stock all over the world!!!
MC Prussian Posted 10 August 2011 Posted 10 August 2011 Not at all, I've seen him out drumming up some support down 'white city' in Mountsorrel, trying to get enough people together to have the courage to put Rothely chippy to the sword. I thought the Welsh were all neutral.
MikeyT Posted 10 August 2011 Posted 10 August 2011 City centre disorder- ARRESTS UPDATE 1 more person has been arrested in connection with the incidents of disorder in Leicester last night. That brings the total of arrests to 14, 11 of which are still police custody. Offences that occurred last night include public order, damage and burglary

That may be my dear Singh, but the cowards that were looting and demolishing in the streets are the even bigger laughing stock. It hurts to say, even though I have sympathies with the weak and poor, these actions have just had a complete opposite effect of what the original protesters had in mind. Those idiots give the "earnest poor" (what an odd term) a very bad name. Despite the odds, the majority of immigrants with low income is dedicated and hard-working and wants to contribute to a well-oiled, working society. It could very well lead to even more controls, more suppression.
thybluefox Posted 10 August 2011 Posted 10 August 2011 IMO these kids are a product of their time. Bought up with the expectation that they'll be supported and given stuff for free. We now have a whole section of society that neither has the drive to work and better themselves, or the respect for other people that do. They see no value and worth in someone's livelihood, only resentment for the fact they have something that they don't. They've been raised with absolutely no moral compass whatsoever. This is Labours, the Lib Dems AND the Conservatives fault. Successive governments have let increasing amounts of people get away with sponging off the state, and now they all expect stuff for free, and will take anything they want to take. Most of these people couldn't tell you who was who in the government, let alone the ins and outs of the political parties. There's no political motive behind these riots, its just lowlife scum bags jumping on the bandwagon and getting what they can for free, showing how little respect they have for the people around them. Now its left to everyone else, who works hard and does their bit, to clean up after them.
Wherethefoxhat? Posted 10 August 2011 Posted 10 August 2011 This is getting out of hand, this has nothing to do with race, those from ethnic minorities including blacks, muslims and sikhs are now rising to potect there keep. This is about youths and people who have lost touch with society and feel that they have nothing to lose, and the law is powerless....., incidently majority of these people tend ot be black, and incidently white in areas such as salford. SIkh channels and leaders are propagating the message that police need our help, we must rise and help and protect our communities, protect hose around us, and hence sikh temples and areas are under watch. The incidence in lozells where 3 muslim men were killed in a hit and run, related to the rioting now will escalate the issues, mass muslim youths are at the hospital and there will be retaliation. I think collectively we must get active and get off our backsides and make our presence felt, unless we show these c**nts that we will not put up with there behaviour and there will be consequences........and a good shoeing may do the job....these plebs will just continue!! Yes....purely a bunch of low-lifes,who ignore the "rules",who know no better . Most of them "dragged up"with a single parent ,out of sight ,out of mind ,12,13,14 years old in a lot of cases . Bred and born under a Labour Government, offering them nothing but benefit payouts and bankrupting the country after 13 years in power. What a legacy they left !

There have been riots under Tory government, as well. So, to put the blame on Labour is a bit one-sided and populist.

I'm refering to media around the world buddy but I don't think anyone is laughing at the looters, but the police and law has been seen to be 'soft' touch and has been seen from some of the 'looters' interviews. I agree with everything else you have said this will only result with more oppression by the law and hard line tactics!!!

Fox92 Posted 10 August 2011 Posted 10 August 2011 Anyone see on the news that these riot people burned down a building in London which was 108 years old? The person who owned the building/shop is 80 and had the bulding passed down by his late grandad. Disgraceful. These people should face significant action, but knowing our government they will all probably get (if caught) an 18 day prison sentance and a 2 week driving ban or something ridiculas
21st Century Fox Posted 10 August 2011 Posted 10 August 2011 Gangs and gang culture has existed for as long as there have been streets, this is nothing new. What's telling in these riots is that they aren't targeting high end jewellery stores or anything of value that they are getting for the sake of it but everyday things that they just want. Consumerism is based on the consumer feeling outside of society and wanting to buy their way in through material possessions, these kids are just taking want that. It's no co-incidence that those with criminal inclinations live in the poorest, run down estates, they weren't criminals that moved there, its a trait instilled through living there. Until something is done to tackle that root cause, what ever's done to stop these riots are a quick fix and it'll just rear its head again in a few years.

If you want to start blaming a political party - just have a look at what that bitch Thatcher did. She closed down communities and left ghost towns, She ripped the ****ing heart out of our manufacturing base (something we all recognise is now required). It wasnt simply the books that needed balancing. Factories once produced goods in local communities - everyone knew each other. If you misbehaved at the weekend then the factory foreman would give you a slapped wrist monday morning. You had work football teams and social clubs and a sense of community. Now we have anonymous dispirited ***** like these. These shits are the by-product/waste product of a capitalist and consumer obsessed society. In the short term show the wankers up and put em in the stocks at the clock tower - parade them round the streets of Leicester in their pants. In the long term we need to address their motivation and inclusion into a respectable society by education both pratically and academically.
ramboacdc Posted 10 August 2011 Posted 10 August 2011 This is what people need to do: http://economictimes.indiatimes.com/news/politics/nation/london-riots-armed-sikhs-protect-gurdwara/articleshow/9552057.cms LONDON: Armed with swords and hockey sticks, over 700 Sikhs took to the streets to protect the Guru Singh Sabha gurdwara in Southall as the police in the UK were stretched to maintain law and order in London. Local vigilante groups have been formed in various areas in London to protect homes and business establishments that have been vandalised by rioters - mainly of Afro-Caribbean origin - in London over the past four days. These include shops owned by businessmen of Indian origin in Harrow and Ealing. Southall in west London has a large population of Indian origin, which rallied together when, apprehending violence, elders in the gurdwara appealed to the community for help. Amarjit Singh Klair from nearby Hounslow, who helped rally the men, told the Daily Mail: "We are working along side the police, they're doing what they can but they are stretched. Why shouldn't we defend our homes, businesses and places of worship? This is our area. There's lots of talk about it kicking off here. But we're ready for them." Groups of Sikh men stood guard at different parts of the town, keeping in touch via their mobiles. An unnamed man told the paper: "They caught us off guard last night but we still managed to get people together to protect the area. "We saw them putting on their balaclavas preparing to jump out of three cars but we charged at them and managed to chase them off." var zz=0;var sldsh=0; var bellyaddiv = ''; var stindex=100; var stp=150; var taglen=0; var tmp; var tagcheck = new Array("div","span","br","font","a"); var storycontent = document.getElementById("storydiv").innerHTML; var firstpara = storycontent.substring(0,storycontent.toLowerCase().indexOf("")).toLowerCase(); function findptt(cnt){ zz++; if(zz == 10)return; var xxx=-1,yyy=-1; var ccnt = cnt; for(ii=0; ii < tagcheck.length; ii++){ xxx = ccnt.indexOf(" i thought carrying a sword around town in a riot would be a bit more worrying to the police and just as illegal..even if it is for religion.
Burmesefox Posted 10 August 2011 Posted 10 August 2011 i thought carrying a sword around town in a riot would be a bit more worrying to the police and just as illegal..even if it is for religion. what about a pork-sword? Mines not just a dangerous weapon, it's lethal!
Dr The Singh Posted 10 August 2011 Posted 10 August 2011 i thought carrying a sword around town in a riot would be a bit more worrying to the police and just as illegal..even if it is for religion. They didn't carry swords around town, only within Gurdwara property, for which the law has been changed to allow force against breakin etc. Sikhs are a warrior race, there Gurdwaray and homes are decorated with weaponry, but restraint, control and ethos of weaponry control is at the centre of the faith. Hence known attacks by Sikhs using such weaponry is very low. In the punjab, weaponry extends to rifles, pistols etc, and still shootings are still very uncommon! Zingari Posted 10 August 2011 Posted 10 August 2011 hell fook , the british are a warrior race too , let's all claim back our rights and heritage my great grandad was at waterloo
Guest MattP Posted 10 August 2011 Posted 10 August 2011 i thought carrying a sword around town in a riot would be a bit more worrying to the police and just as illegal..even if it is for religion. Not really, the police appear to have developed a common sense approach here and have decided to let people defend their communities, one of the "youths" last night near Jacobs took a kicking from 2/3 English, the police werent going to arrest them.
