Forest Post Match

I was sat opposite the away fans, behind the glass bit. A few other Leicester fans were there too. Not worth £80 for just a single ticket. :nono:

Great first half.

Second half, they were bound to get on us for most of the period. Konchesky was the weak link in the 2nd, seems as if he is not up to scratch fitness-wise? :dunno: Slow at reacting whilst winger near him has the ball and hardly makes much effort to tackle them, lets them go away way too easily.

Regarding the penalty, I had a good view from the stand and it was imo very harsh on Mills. Kasper needs to learn to control himself, especially in situations where he is not happy about a decision. The second yellow he received was not really worthy of a red card as he just threw it towards the centre bit, not like as if he kicked it into the stands.

His kicking (direction to players) needs sorting out, too many wasted kicks..

Overall, defence was shaky at times but they handled the pressure well. (But before Miller came on, they struggled with him)

Midfield - King anonymous again, Wellens did ok, Danns - Best I've seen him, Fernandes - We should try to make him a permanent capture, he's our main player imo.

Up-front = Hardly anyone in the box whenever someone on the wing crosses it in, glad Nugent is banging them in.

Oh, saw Bernie after the game at this bus-stop looking somewhat bewildered. lol

Evening all, got home a couple of hours ago to find that Mrs M had made Beef Wellingtons for a supper. Cracked a nice bottle of red and sat down to a very good meal, rude not to........

Anyway, a bit later than usual my summary of the game -

Once again the team looked decent on paper, back 5 set up as expected, midfield diamond with Wellens at the base, Fernandez on the right, Danns left and King in the hole behind Vassel and Nugent.

City were pretty dominant in the first 10 - 12 minutes, virtually all the play in the Forest half. Wellens stayed deep, not that involved, Fernandez was very energetic on the right, well supported by Peltier whose presence allowed Fernandez to play a bit narrower, looked a good combination.

In contrast Danns stayed quite wide, he was getting support from Konchesky, but the full back rarely got past him as Peltier was doing on the other side. Again, a reasonably effective pairing which would be improved if Konchesky can be persuaded to stop hitting hopeful balls into the box from 40+ yards.

Then just as Forest started to get into the game, Fernandez closed down his man just inside their half, won the ball and drove through the inside right channel, drawing Camp then squaring for Nugent to score.

A few moments later some good play on the left between Danns and Nugent let Danns in on the angle, his shot is cleared off the line but driven in by Fernandez. Two nill and City are cruising, pretty much in control, one decent save from Schmeichel and a missed header was pretty much the limit of Forests aggression.

Second half was all change, typical City, they sat back and invited Forest on, which they gladly accepted, but despite this Forest didn't really look like getting back into the game. The big turning point was around the hour mark, Nugent and Vassell were tiring badly and there was no one holding the ball up for us, Gallagher was brought on for the hobbling Nugent but was way off the pace and provided no forward threat. With nothing happening for City up front, the Forest defence started to push out and suddenly without really upping their game they were dominant.

Despite the pressure City still looked odds on to survive, then the penalty, complete nonsense I thought. Mills went up to challenge for a header about 6 - 8 yards out, he came down off balance and went down onto his hands and knees looking away from the ball, the ball just gently rolling towards Schmeichel hit his arm and leg, there wasn't a Forest player in attendance. Despite being completely unintentional the ref gave a penalty.

The City players were incensed, not just going through the motions but genuinely very upset. Several players made their feelings known to the ref and Mills and then Schmeichel was booked. McGugan scored well and then, as the Forest players converged on the net and the ball, Schmeichel grabbed the ball and hurled it upfield. A fit of pique certainly but a second yellow card was way over the top unless something very nasty was said, which I did not see.

With City down to ten, Weale in goal and the ref clearly on their side, Forest just went for it. City still looked like they might hang on, but a flighted cross was misjudged by Weale allowing Boateng to score at the far post, and that was pretty much it.

We let Forest back in the game by sitting back second half but the crucial, turning point of the game came first from the hopelessly misjudged substitution of Gallagher for Nugent, then from the referee, an awful decision gifting Forest a totally undeserved penalty. Then the cards as the City players reacted badly to what really was a really terrible decision and that was it, game over, gutted.

100% agree

Poor tactics or attitude in 2nd half let them back into it, compounded by terrible reffing

Still there was a lot of positives & for a change this season the system, before we invited the pressure in the 2nd half was working well. I hope the tinker man sticks with it, last thing we need to now is to undo the improvement by swapping formations, tactics or players.

Starting from scratch against S'ton will see us ripped apart

sorry but that commentator on FLS was shit,he still reckoned Kaspar kicked the ball into the stand lol

Just saw the football league show and I have to think that even the second goal should have been disallowed for bundling through 2 of our defenders. Difficult position for the ref but even so, mills i think was totally polaxed!

I think I've spotted some people suggesting the penalty should have been given.

To those people, I quote you FIFA Law 12, Fouls and Misconduct:

A direct free kick is also awarded to the opposing team if a player commits any of the following three offences:

holds an opponent

spits at an opponent

handles the ball deliberately (except for the goalkeeper within his own penalty area).

If you think that Mills handled that ball deliberately (by extension, if you think that the penalty decision was correct), then you are far too stupid for me to be willing to share a planet with.

The stuff that happened afterwards was almost as farcical, a set of officials deciding they were going to pick up on every little sportsmanship offence (but only for one team).

Normally I would agree with those who say "don't blame the ref, we should have played better / taken our chances etc", but in this case there is a single reason we didn't get three points: a thoroughly incompetent set of match officials who should never be in charge of a Football League match again. I'm certain there are far better referees waiting to take their places...

Don't know which match the commentator was watching!! Noob.

Saw myself in the crowd on the 1st goal celebrations, I know the camera add 10lbs but jeeeeze....I look HUGE!!! :S

If that's a deliberate handball, Mills should have been sent off. The ref was looking for any excuse to get Forest back

Into the game. He couldn't have looked any more arrogant either when he shown KS the red and then when he was telling him "off". Cvnt.

Read alot of crap on here but i did go to the game today, not going to suggest we deserved anything from the game. We were rubbish today, very worrying stuff from McClarens men. Like a few have said, in for a long season.

THAT SAID if you want to talk about bad refereeing decisions and foul play, look no further than your own players with the outrageous gamesmanship, injury feigning and timewasting. It was an absolute disgrace. I don't know whether Sven has been teaching them that but they deserved to lose the lead after that pathetic display of cheating going on for the entire game.

Clearly going to get shot down for this, but it's the truth. Suck it up Leicester.

Much love.

Songs full of swearing... whatever next...

The Forest scum fans were pathetic after the match. A leicester fan was with a young lad, maybe 5 or 6 years old and some Forest fan was just mouthing off all sorts of abuse at this guy - who was not wearing colours but his son was! His son looked terrified!

And as every year,.. Forest fans don't sing in the ground, then get out of it and they're singing as if they've won the European Cup again. One day they will get it coming to them. West Ham next week I believe... would love to see them mouthing off to their fans like they did to ours today and I can see a few Forest pubs getting smashed to bits.

Agreed, Forest fans are disgrace, so pathetic and tinpot.

Awful home support, topped off by throwing their weight around outside the ground.

Now I like to think I can be pretty objective when I want to be but after seeing the penalty decision and sending off masacre on the FL show I have to say that's one of the single worst sequences of refereeing I have ever seen.

Mills was putting his arm down to stop himself from falling over. He wasn't looking at the ball, he wasn't preventing anyone from getting the ball, there would have been no reason to touch the ball and all forms of logic in the universe suggest you'd have to be in a ****ing loony bin to think that was a penalty. I think even a die hard Forest fan would have a hard time debating why the referee gave it.

Can someone explain what Kasper did just before the penalty which supposidly got him a yellow card? I'm not reading through all this tripe.

I'm mad. Grrr.

Oh fvck off, your players do exactly the same, how can you say that when you've got Lewis McGugan on your team? Don't try and make out that guys got any sporting decency whatsoever.

In fact, no need for an explanation, just fvck off anyway.

Care to elaborate?

Because the knocks they took looked serious to me.

Besides, how about the two, three yellows that weren't given against your lot? Findley, Boateng - all innocent and pure?

Having watched the game on a stream, I had the luxury of replays and some of the tackles at we were "feigning injury" about were reckless and very high, Findley completely avoiding the ball and getting Matt Mills high in the ankle stands out.

Just saw the highlights.

What a horrendous referee. The penalty whilst clearly a handball was unintentional and i don't think the handball stopped it running into the path of a striker? Mills had no idea about it.

The referee should be making sure players know they are booked. Kasper threw the ball towards the halfway line/side of the pitch. Basically, up the pitch how the **** is that a bookable offence? The final game. Boateng was all over our defender (not sure who it was). He actually completely took him out to get to the ball. I'm surprised nobody picked up on this as much.

Who's that Polish twonk who plays for Forest, if we're going to talk about feigning injury and being a cheating, wimpy little scum bucket then look no further.

Think the trees need to look a bit closer to home before mouthing off about what other teams do. Never seen a team roll around and cry as much as Forest under Billy Davis.

Yes, he's a cunt

Their 2nd goal was fair game. No complaints. I have no idea what Weale was playing at.

But I have a hard time seeing it come to that had we had 11 players on the pitch and Kasper in goal.

I'm more worried by the fact that I've found myself agreeing with Kitchandro so much after this game than I was by any of our starting XI's performances today.
