Al-aLondon-Foxile Posted 27 October 2011 Posted 27 October 2011 I really thought the owners had some one all ready to go in to the job ? Or else why get rid of Erickson so soon. I am beginning to think they are not so smart after all and are playboys who no nothing about football. Just look at the pathetic names being banded about now as the next manager they are all shite. :dunno: :dunno: :dunno: Maybe after speaking with MON - who famously doesn't talk about positions that aren't yet available, they decided to gamble on him agreeing terms and so sacked Sven. And now it's backfired.
tomtom Posted 27 October 2011 Posted 27 October 2011 Keegan ? The bloke Sven replaced as England manager after he completely ballsed that up and even played southgate cm against Germany ?? Or the keegan who had absolutely no idea what he was doing at newcastle 2nd time around bailing out again when things got tough ?? Good god has it come to this ?????

MikeyT Posted 27 October 2011 Posted 27 October 2011 I guess i have been living in a cave on some deserted island, but i have to be honest and say i know bugger all about Lee Clark.

Guest Basildon Fox Posted 27 October 2011 Posted 27 October 2011 Has this actually been officially confirmed by O'Neil himself? Just seems strange that there has been no official word from him if that is his choice.
Happy Fox Posted 27 October 2011 Posted 27 October 2011 Has this actually been officially confirmed by O'Neil himself? Just seems strange that there has been no official word from him if that is his choice. Nope and until their is a tiny bit of hope is left.
lestajigs Posted 27 October 2011 Posted 27 October 2011 Says on the news we have not held talks with o'neill yet!!
cc_star Posted 27 October 2011 Posted 27 October 2011 King ****ing kev, don't make me laugh. Bottler! I can't see beyond Davies & Clark, everyone else mentioned is dogshit
cc_star Posted 27 October 2011 Posted 27 October 2011 Says on the news we have not held talks with o'neill yet!! That's what we've told the media, but O'Neill still seems to have come out & declined us through 'friends'
Guest Basildon Fox Posted 27 October 2011 Posted 27 October 2011 That's what we've told the media, but O'Neill still seems to have come out & declined us through 'friends' Yet you would think he would just do that himself being as he is not 12. I am not saying he is coming but without a direct link to him the reports are about as accurate as the Belfry story.
iancognito Posted 27 October 2011 Posted 27 October 2011 I guess i have been living in a cave on some deserted island, but i have to be honest and say i know bugger all about Lee Clark. Turned round Huddersfield who are now top of league one and are unbeaten at home for 40 games. Plays attractive, attacking style with wingers but Clark has said he's not applied and Huddersfield haven't been contacted.
ARM1968 Posted 27 October 2011 Posted 27 October 2011 This is all just so much hot air! We haven't spoken to MON yet. But if TOP thinks Martin will APPLY for the post he clearly doesn't know O'Neill. Until they speak to Martin we won't know. They might not. I expect us to end up with Keegan, Glen Hoddle or some other NAME. We may all look back on Sven with fond regret.
liamsm Posted 27 October 2011 Posted 27 October 2011 I may well be the only one who thinks this, but I think Keane would do ok. You are correct, you probably are the only one who thinks that
broughtonblue Posted 27 October 2011 Posted 27 October 2011 I still think it will be a shock big name, the Thais want someone who will appeal to the massive Asian Market. Poss someone like ruud guillet? Or a young upcoming manager with a bigger name as director of football
Callabinho Posted 27 October 2011 Posted 27 October 2011 Not one paper has a quote from O'Neill, and they have all quoted the same line that "top" said which was the first thing we heard him say on sky, and we hadn't even spoken to O'Neill then. Some one has found out we held talks with him at some point, Martin will not make any decision without mulling it over, I don't think he will come but I won't abandon all hope untill they have a quote from O'Neill himself.

I expect us to end up with Keegan, Glen Hoddle or some other NAME. We may all look back on Sven with fond regret. I bet they have spoken to him. But he doesnt want the job. Option 1: Say we spoke to Mon he didnt want the job. Everyone knows and the next manager knows he is 2nd choice. And it may even put people like Hughes off. Option 2: Deny we have spoken to him, MOn says through 'friends' he doesnt want the job, and LCFC and mon retreat with reputations intact.
Simi Posted 27 October 2011 Posted 27 October 2011 MON doesn't need to speak to the owners to tell them no. Seems plausible he would leak it to a mate or through his agent so to not embarrass Top and the club of asking him directly and saying no.
Babylon Posted 27 October 2011 Posted 27 October 2011 Turned round Huddersfield who are now top of league one 2nd in league one... 3 points behind Charlton (Chris Powell), 2 points ahead of Sheffield Wednesday (Gary Megson), 4 points ahead of Notts County (Martin Allen). We really want someone who gets their team 2 and 4 points ahead of Megson and Allen in league one? I think people are being blinded by this 40 game headline.
liamsm Posted 27 October 2011 Posted 27 October 2011 Billy Davies pretty much advocates cheating. His sides are always ref chasing, diving, dirty scum. I have standards. One thing I've always thought about us is that we're quite an honest club, it's quite rare you'll see any of that funny business here. Perhaps why we aint top of the league, look at Man u and Chelsea for example

You think the club would read the papers quoting "a friend" and then just give up? Because papers tell the truth all the time don't they! They will ask one way or another, it only takes a call to his agent. And I think a polite no from his agent is a bit nicer than leaking it to national papers!
Babylon Posted 27 October 2011 Posted 27 October 2011 Perhaps why we aint top of the league, look at Man u and Chelsea for example Indeed, I remember people saying the same things when we were interested in Warnock.... that turned out well. Sometimes it takes a bit of a git to fire things up.

I don't think that, but surely we are being naive to think they've not heard something similar already in private?
