Leicesterpool Posted 30 October 2011 Posted 30 October 2011 Also a lot of players from the Pearson era have gone, Fryatt & Hobbs joined him at Hull, N'Guessan gone to Millwall, Morrison gone to Sheffield Wednesday, Barry Hayles now at Truro, Wayne Brown i thinks at Bradford City, Conrad Logan i think he's at Oldham or something, Paul Dickov at Oldham aswell also Martyn Waghorn's joined Hull & his coach Chris Powell gone to Charlton. So Pearson would have build again what would take time, the time the owners don't have.
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 30 October 2011 Posted 30 October 2011 Never appalling? What a selective memory you have. 2009-2010:- Ipswich away 0-0 (They were in turmoil but we never tried to beat them), Forest away 1-5, Swansea away 0-1, Barnsley away 0-1 (did we even have a shot?), Bristol City away 1-1 plus a few more. 2008/2009: MK Dons away 2-2, Peterboro away 0-2, Tranmere away 0-2 (Another night with barely a shot). That said, yes, I would welcome the bloke back because at least he seemed to know what he was trying to do - dour as it was at times - and he brought some consistency to the club. He'd be in my top four for a return to be honest because he, of all people, could handle the egos. Whether I'd want to pay to watch is a different question altogether, particularly away. We never played appalling football, that is a fact. Though you must define appalling differently. We lost in those games as we didnt play well enough. We played just as bad under Sven vs Ipswich, Millwall away, Millwall at home just gone and Cardiff away. We were bad in those games un NP, that is different to playing appalling football and si a different reason as to why we lost those games. Least under NP we didnt have a 'play players anywhere to accomodate them' style of play, where we lost because players didnt know what their roles were. And I would like to know how Ipswich were in turmoil when it was 0-0 in the second game of the season and Keane had just arrived as manager there. And we were outplayed at MK, boosed the Bristol game and nicked a point and were not good enough in the other games. Least we lost games by the odd goal, and went down fighting.

Only Powell was any good and he's too old now (although he might make us a good manager) the rest were average to poor, with the possible exception of Hobbs - would you put Hobbs in instead of Mills or Bamba? Please not Logan, Waghorn Fryatt etc - utter pants
Guest MattP Posted 30 October 2011 Posted 30 October 2011 Pearson failed?? Wtf? 2 seasons, one title, one year significantly over achieving with what we had. Losing in the play offs when your target was midtable isn't failing, he failed in the same way Mancini failed finishing 2nd last season. He achieved his objectives twice. The only one of our managers to do so got quite some time. ......and no surprise to now seeing him do it again at Hull.

A squad full of players with less ability than Sven had and he comfortably out performed Svens side. (and Hobbs over Bamba anyday, no doubt who will concede less out of us and Hull this season, I like defenders to actually defend, then again Hobbs doesn't a cool song does he?)
look_back_in_amber Posted 30 October 2011 Posted 30 October 2011 If i were you mate id be worried Big Nige! has still got a lot of friends in the area and his family loved the club and the City believe me unlike a backwater like Hull!!, ironically this is exactly the same comment he came out of when Hull were llnked to him, what you have to remember is that Hull was a sideways move at the best before City had Megabucks to spend! Worried? Absolutely not I'm guessing that football managers, and professional footballers alike, make many friends at the club that they either manage or play for, that's simply the nature of the beast, this, in turn, will endear them to that particular club, they may even, as you suggest, begin to 'love' the club to a greater or lesser degree. The fly in the ointment usually occurs when said manager or professional footballer has his reputation/credentials called into question, possibly by new investors into the club, I'm sure that you can see where I'm going with this. Megabucks? Ah yes, that must be one of the reasons that MON is begging for you to take him back You see money is not always the be all and end all, fortunately each manager prioritises loyalty and money. Guess which would be the priority for NP, and that's simply one of the reasons that he won't be coming back to Leicester

Nigel Pearson is a good manager but is suited to Hull and no disrespect but i dont personally want him back at Leicester
J.Lisemore Posted 30 October 2011 Posted 30 October 2011 Not sure whether anyone has posted this but he isn't exactly convincing in saying hes commited to Hull. link We all know Pearson isn't a great talker but sounds to me, hes not ruling it out. 4:50 ish onwards.
Guy Posted 30 October 2011 Posted 30 October 2011 I'd love to see him back. No pretensions or egos attached, a "no nonsense", "no baggage" manager who knows what the Championship is all about. I know he was treated like shite by Mandaric in the end and because of that then I doubt that he'll be the one to (re)fill the hot seat in time for the first game I'll have been able to see this season, namely Leeds at home! Never say never though. He's still a more likely candidate than MON though....
themotivator Posted 30 October 2011 Posted 30 October 2011 return of the nige would be so bizarre it could just happen... i would welcome him back for one reason. DAT FLAT TOP.

Hull chief Pearson was a hit at the Foxes and took them to the play-offs but clashed with previous owner Milan Mandaric. Despite modest resources, Pearson (above) has now impressed at Hull and could be tempted to return under the Thai owners. Nigel Pearson

This thread is interesting and believable-ish........more so than the interview he had with Radio Humberside yesterday at any rate! The Thais are looking for someone in Nigel's mould I think, not a glam manager who's only used to managing teams in the upper echelons of football but someopne who can simply get us out of this league in a no nonsense way. Worry about playing the purist, pretty stuff next season in the Prem. West Ham appear to have adopted that attitude under Big Sam already..........

Happy Fox Posted 30 October 2011 Author Posted 30 October 2011 I would certainly take him back in a heart beak knows this league like the back of his hand, won't take any crap from the players etc, gets results on the pitch.
lavrentis Posted 30 October 2011 Posted 30 October 2011 To be honest I'm surprised NP would even consider coming back after how he got treated but after hearing that interview where he could have literally said "I'm not going anywhere", I don't know what to make of it.
Happy Fox Posted 30 October 2011 Author Posted 30 October 2011 Nigel has got unfinished business here, Mad Mandy and the infamous Lee Hoos have left the building, come on NP come home and lead us to glory.

Pearson is doing a great job at Hull..little surprise there for me.. Why he'd want to come back and sort our bloody mess out God only knows... but we are much bigger than Hull and he could get something very big going on down here We'll see anyway.. theres been soo much speculation over the weekend (and No, I'm not having a dig at Bert!!) that God knows what to believe.
teblin Posted 30 October 2011 Posted 30 October 2011 We could well be talking to 4 or 5 mangers so everyone who has given a bit of itk info could be telling the truth. I was gutted when pearson left, was the best manager since mon and still is. He had his faults and at times we were negative but we got results on a relatively small budget. He could have done wonders with this club given the financial backing Sven had. I would welcome him back. And whilst people point out bad games where were were negative, we also turn teams over 5-1 , 3-0 and 4-0 in the run in of our play off season. Selective memories to make their own point.

Big Nige still has plenty of friends within the club perhaps they have influenced the owners ! i think you know where i am going with this! MON is a different kettle of fish yes we all wanted him back but seriously why bother taking over at Leicester at 60 when in 8 months you could be managing Spurs in the Champions League or maybe England! Megabucks yes! well if somebody offered you a fabulous new working enviroment and a 20 million kitty to start with! and double maybe triple your wages or more and lucrative bonuses you would be a fool not to be seriously tempted! Loyalty in football! wake up there is none!!
Happy Fox Posted 30 October 2011 Author Posted 30 October 2011 Dull City fans must be quaking in their boots
STUHILL Posted 30 October 2011 Posted 30 October 2011 Still feel bitter how he left!! Would I want him back now though?! Hmmm.... be down my list of choices even though I think he is great manager! Wouldn't be unhappy with him though! He does have unfinished business maybe but doubt he would ditch Hull.
fox_favourite Posted 31 October 2011 Posted 31 October 2011 From memory, when he had his press conference when he arrived at Hull he didnt seem too happy to be there & was still in shock about leaving LCFC. The problem is that Pearson doesnt like doing the media stuff so we could be reading too much into it as is The Mirror this morning. Would I like to see Pearson back? You better believe it!! Love this guy! Nigel Pearsons blue army!! I just cant believe how many rumours there are around at the mo!
