Andy King

Andy is one of the best midfielders outside the prem he might be going through a bad patch so what everybody does! Why don't we just get a new team and start from scratch AGAIN! Get rid of king ffs!

I like King but this simply is not the case at the moment. I could name quite a few players that are better than him in this division at present. He has not performed very well except for a couple of games since the turn of the year and if anything looks a shadow of the player he was under NP and the start of last season.

Let me take you back to West Ham. Hadn't really done a lot all game then popped up with two goals, the second of which a limited number of players in our squad could have scored. Or Barnsley, strolls onto the pitch and gets us level within seconds.

Andy King plays because Andy King scores goals, even when he's not in the best of form (which he might not have been this season). When he is on form, he scores goals and his quality shines through for a whole game. He's certainly not wank.

Some say King, some say Danns, some say Wellens. Everyone is finding their own scapegoat, but the fact is that the entire club is a right mess at the moment and the players seem to only perform when the pressure isn't on (Burnley). At home the spotlight is on us and the players seem to choke. Hopefully the new manager will be appointed early this week and he'll have a few weeks to re-assemble the squad. We are right back to square one and the similarities to last season are frightening.

We're caught between the proverbial rock and hard place. We want to attack cos we're at home but when our wingers are out - such as they are - we can't attack from deep with pace. We have to either pass the ball through or use the route one way and, without proper width, we're not much good at those things either because we don't have runners moving off Howard at pace either.

We also know our opponents are patiently waiting to counter at pace and they know that sooner or later we get careless. This puts fear and uncertainty into our minds. We desperately need proper leadership and the gaps in our personnel, and therefore our options, closing.

For all that though we just seem so sloppy and badly prepared.

The number of times he and Wellens are shut out of games by opposing sides of any quality is frightening. It happened frequently last season against top-six teams and is occurring on an even more regular basis this time around.

Both of them, for the new contracts Sven gave them, ought to have the strength of character to learn from these setbacks and raise their game. But it's clear they don't. That's one of the reasons these fcukwits have helped to wreck my last FOUR weekends.

I'm beginning to lose patience, and I suspect I'm not the only one.

Agree. But he never makes them runs in to the box any more because of how we are playing he gets told how to play were not playing to our strengths. He needs to be playing behind the front two for some reason the way were playing we cant even get him on the ball a manager needs to come in and really sort these problems out.

Has it not occurred to you that the reason King's form has suffered, and his goal supply dried up, is because other managers (Hughton, Jackett, Grayson) have sussed him and Wellens out?

Both of them are believing their own hype too much. Neither are really any more than average Championship players. We could, and must, be looking at better. This will be one of the most pressing issues of the next manager's in-tray.

With no width, no pace and the likes of Danns and Gallagher expected to provide industrial assistance it really isn't that easy to lift your game.

Passes against tight-marking teams have to be one-touch or two-touch at most and this required team-mates making the runs to make them possible.

What happens is that they simply stand square meaning that any pass to them is easily closed down and there's no penetration. They stand square because they haven't got the speed and skill to attack defenders or get behind them. It needs specialists not makeweights.

Galagher gets in because he makes things happen occasionally almost from the spot. But we pay a price for that too and, as for Danns, he looked a complete liability today.

Well he hasn't played at the base all this season. In fact some people were arguing he was playing badly because he needs to play at the base.Maybe the answer is that his all round game rarely shows up. Base, tip - it hasn't made any difference. It's not that the positions don't suit him, it's that he's not playing well enough.

He needs the balls? He's not a striker, he's a midfield player, he needs to get the ball and make something happen. If he was standing in a good place to recieve the ball he might get it. It's the same with Beckord and Yakubu, people wonder why they are marked out of the game - it's because they don't bloody move and make it easier to recieve passes. The team is not there to put it on a plate for King, his job is to make something with the ball.

And I didn't see him against West Ham, but I've heard he was anonymous there apart from his goals as well. Sadly his goals couldn't prevent defeat, but if his all round game was better that may have been a better help. But like I said, I didn't see it, so I don't really know.

What could he do with Sven at the helm we were playing "free-flowing football" but all we did was go back to Mills or Kasper and hoofed it most of our midfielders were crap at the beginning of the season. He's been with our club through thick and thin and has been the only shining light through it all yet now when people are thinking we'll go up everyone moans at him for being "anonymous" despite him doing what he can do. We all need to stop making scapegoats and realise today we weren't good enough and were beaten by a moment of class.

None of our players are "wank" and none of them deserve abuse while we're 3 points off play-offs during a transitional period for the club and we need to support the players and not be making scapegoats of them.

No matter how much you try and dress it up, a record of four defeats in eight home games is not acceptable. There are some serious flaws in this side and they need to be corrected as soon as possible.

The new manager has some big decisions to make, including clearing out the deadwood that failed under Pearson, Sousa and Sven (and in King's case, under Holloway too). He is the person we need to support, not some overpaid, under-achieving mediocrities.

You are making yourself look like a ball bag! King under-achieving under Pearson :crylaugh: :crylaugh: :crylaugh:

One word to sum up Andy King WANK !!!!! We need to get rid , he does nothing all game just runs around not doing much !!!

you obviously didn`t watch west ham game did you!

King was one of the few who still passed the ball quickly and accurately despite Leeds' fast closing down. The trouble was he became almost completely neutralised by his marker and this meant he hardly ever got forward and, unusually, didn't muster a shot. Leeds did a job on him but there wasn't much help coming from any other midfielder, particularly in an industrious sense. We were second to the ball almost everywhere and almost all afternoon.

are you ****ing serious? get off his cock for 2 ****ing minutes, its a joke.

What a lot of people here fail to realise is that other managers do their homework they look at how we play and the players we have and they set out to nullify us.

Last season King was one of our best players, so naturally they will look to mark him out the game, and it was clear from the radio that Leeds set out to be negative, (i didn't see the game so I can't comment on his performance today) I think a lot of other teams set out to nullify our midfield especially playing at the KP.

Andy King is a very good very intelligent footballer, when I do get the ground I do like to watch him closely, he is the closest we have to home grown talent, the way he defends is to stand up the opposition midfielder force him to pass it then track his run, most people don't notice that, but he takes that man out the game. The same when he has the ball, he will play the simple ball and then make a run into space, if he is not passed the ball then it looks like he just plays the simple ball and does nothing else. Then you add his goals to that and you have a very good player. But if the opposition stick a man on him, track his runs and mark him out the game has not developed that side of the game to deal with it, and with the other midfielders offering little threat then teams will continue to do that. It goes back to the width issue, if we had wingers/wide players dragging the play to the flanks he would get more space but we are all bunched up in the middle and are very easy to mark.

He is not a flair player or a glamourous player, but he is very effective player and those that know the most about football appreciate that and that is why he has played more games than most these last 3 seasons.

King was HAVING to sit and hold today as Wellens decided he was going to bomb on all game, so didn't really get much chance to do anything

Perhaps the diamond is just bollocks like it was when Sven stuck Scholes out on the left for England.

We need a manager who'll pick a formation that will get the best out of the talent available, square pegs round holes has got us where we are, no-fecking-where.

Think it's disgraceful that u can call him "wank". He's done loads for us, granted maybe not so far this season but he's a good YOUNG player who seems to tick when the rest of the team plays well. Give him a break ffs!

Posted

Let's get one thing straight! He's not "wank".

OK he may not have had much of a game on Sunday but with the kind of support he had you can't really blame him.

I said in the ratings thread. "does our midfield actually go to training on the same day" they played like strangers on Sunday and not for the first time.

I remember Stearman getting this kind of stick and he soon fvcked off and now he's playing in the prem............albeit just for this season!

So come on get real, we can't be losing players of King's quality.

I always see King making a great run into the box on match days, only for most of the other midfielders to dither on the ball and fail to pass to him when he's in clear space.

I can't be the only one who sees this.

DavieG mentioned just such a run on Sunday that Howard failed to spot.

So many go un-noticed. The amount of times you see him pull up after a run and have to run back to midfield is frustrating to watch.

There must be a reason why he is so anonymous though, I mean, everyone notices!

It's alright saying 'he makes decent runs' and yes he does, but that doesn't make up for the fact that most people on here notice he is anonymous throughout the game, and what does that tell you? I look at other midfielder's within the divison, such as Clayton, Lallana and McGugan and they are all able to make runs and score, but also help the team in the defensive third as well.
