We aren't Geordies, simple as.

They have a massive penchant for horrendous over-reaction, self-righteousness and indignation.

Good to see Mr "Stop making jokes about the Welsh it hurts my feelings" isn't partaking in double standards at all.

You should go and spend some time up there around some of the friendliest, most welcoming people in the country.

Or you could just pretend to be an Englishman in Wales and get eyeballed for speaking English, or whispered about in Welsh when they think you cant understand them (case in point 2006, went there with a welsh speaking relative, they assumed she was English and she translated every bit of there grubby little insults before hilariously volleying right back at them to their surprise :P).

If your going to cry off about people disrespecting Wales then dont fucking do it yourself!

Just when he'd got the fans quiet and concentrating on enjoying their football, this happens.

It's about history and tradition. It's different to us. The owners re-named an already branded ground.

What the fvck are you on, AJ, ya clown? I take banter about Wales every day of my life and give it back with a grin and a bit of lip.

Wash the sand out of your vagina and sit down.

It amazes me how someone can dissapear for six months or so and then re appear the first time I say anything confrontational lol do you get alerts or something Sam?

And finners you had such a massive winge in all the England Wales threads so don't deny it. Was just saying if you don't want to be generalised then dont generalise another place that someone from here might care about! Pretty simple really

I'll deny it because you're making it up. I've had plenty of arguments about Welsh sport on here, I give and take a lot of banter about Wales and the Welsh on here, sure.

But I stopped being offended by Welsh jokes and stereotypes when I was about 12, I get 'em daily, so I've no idea what you're waffling about. I'm guessing you don't either.

And Albert stopped posting for a year or so, Sam has never left.

Money talks doesn't it in modern football...ofcourse tradtion wise the move isn't good but if it helps Newcastle get a new player or two in the future then fans might be more placid.

I'm a little bit confused where the money is coming from, though.

Pardon my naivety when it comes to business and economics but if he owns the club and owns Sports Direct then, ultimately, isn't there very little gain for the club here? He's just using it as a free billboard.

Which, I understand the argument, is his prerogative but even so. It's a little exploitative and not really in the spirit of owning a football club, I can understand the fan's frustration regardless of how hilarious I genuinely find the situation.

Lambias is stating the money will come from another company buying the rights.

This name is simply a temporary example to showcase how the rights would look.

So im guessing they are hoping some big company comes along and splashes 8 mill a year on the stadium lol, bit naive really considering no one will ever call it anything other than St James Park!

Went to University in Newcastle. Fantastic place to spend 3 years, nice city and friendly locals, however, in my experience, the football fans are amongst some of the most irritating I've ever come across. They have such a bizarre sense of entitlement, and such a self inflated sense of importance and 'loyalty' as fans, which didn't sit particularly well with me having heard them booing and jeering their side after 15 minutes when things weren't going to plan.

Isn't this exactly the same as the Arabs did at Man City, buying the naming rights to their own stadium to get around UEFA funding rules?

Anyway if the whining geordie bastards don't want this why don't they volunteer to pay an extra £5 a ticket?

That never happens at the KP

I'm not interested about mentioning LCFC fans, or what happens inside the King Power. I'm regaling my experience about Newcastle fans based upon earlier posts in this thread.

Wasn't that the story two years ago when it was changed to sportsdirect.co.uk @ St James Park or whatever? You can't use the same excuse twice in a row, surely?

I think their situation is quite significantly different, our stadium has never had a name of it's own, it's always held a brand as a title. We're also, collectively, far less bothered by triviality as a collection of fans, in my experience.

The Friends Provident St Marys Stadium

edit: and while not the most accurate source in the world, according to Wikipedia, Filbert Street was "the City Business Stadium" from the start of the 90's.

Filbert Street officially was The City Ground - ironically enough. It's like West Ham, who actually play at The Boleyn Ground. Like Filbert St, Upton Park is actually "where" it is, rather than "what it is".

We prefer to have lots of individual reactionary nutters instead of being one big loony collective.

It's the modern way

HAHA glad I'm not the only one who thinks this, the tosser does it to me too!

What he actually does is scan the forums without logging on, then when he sees something he can jump on a bandwagon with, he posts!

Shame he never shares his views on lcfc with us. Afterall, that's the point of this forum.

Do you actually listen to yourself?
