With flawed logic though.  I mean if all legitimising an industry achieves is to create an even better black market of tax-free, high quality goods then why aren't we all buying designer clothes and avocadoes from a guy named Baz in an alley somewhere? :D

If you look in gen sport there's a "cheap football shirts" thread. Basically it tells you where to buy fake shirts, which aren't llegal.

Tell me...when was the last time someone - anyone on here, in fact - saw someone selling black market alcohol or smokes to kids on any large scale?

The undercutting argument doesn't hold water - not in the UK, anyhow.

I've never seen anyone selling drugs but I don't deny it happens. If drug dealers don't sell to children now then what was Justin Trudeau going on about?

People do sell illegal alcohol.

If nobody wants skunk why do they buy it?

More often than not dealers get what they're given and sell it

I know someonewho deals who literally makes up funny names for green he sells

Sends group texts to his 'customers' which read something like ''yo, ive got some African Hizzy Jack''

I think with respect you and a lot of others are over-mystifying this illegal herb

People who buy it would love to be able to go and get it from a shop and know what it is and choose

Differences in strengths will not be an issue at all

It will be no different from alcohol.  It just has a well developer cultural stigma working against it

The reasons weed is illegal are nothing to do with it being dangerous to the public.  Alcohol is literally a public danger but is perfectly legal

Aren't legal or aren't illegal?  If it's the latter then it's irrelevant to this discussion.

It's this tablet ,it's a pain in the arse to type on. It isn't legal.

Shop near narborough road sells black market fags to kids, seen it as I buy mine there too.

I personally am not for legalising for recreational use, due to someone close to me going through an extremely rough few years due to addiction to it. Have no issue with medical use.

...and?

The argument here - one of the ones you used - is that if cannabis were legalised dealers would still sell on the black market at a similar or greater rate than they did before, including to children (unless you were arguing another angle here).

The two leading legal intoxicants on the market - alcohol and tobacco - demonstrate rather clearly that this is not the case. The logical progression is obvious.

And before slippery slope fallacy becomes a factor here, this isn't an argument to legalise all narcotics as there are other factors in play too in terms of social cost, merely that this particular one doesn't hold water.

A few sources:

Clearly, what others have said about legalisation lowering underage usage is correct.

I find your arguments bizarre. I've never, ever known people to sell contraband alcohol, the closest I've seen is the old bloke down the pub trying to hand out his homebrew wine which came out closer to moonshine. Kids in this country only ever get alcohol if their parents or older siblings/relation give it to them and at that point you can do nothing about it either way.

You're really pulling at straws with this Webbo, legalisation wherever its been has been an outstanding success.

You must have lead a very sheltered life if you've never seen kids drunk or smoking.

Interesting, thank you!

I wonder how many more shops there would be like that if smokes were suddenly made contraband and how much their profit margins would increase.

Are you sure about that?  If it's straight up illegal then why is nobody giving out guides on accessing TOR to purchase these shirts?  I'm pretty sure it's just legally dubious.

Not entirely true. When I was underage (10 years ago) we would stand outside the corner shop and ask every bloke that went in for fags and/or booze. Sometimes would take a while but never failed. When my missus was young her and her friends found a co-op with no cctv on the booze aisle and took whatever they wanted (she personally didn't shoplift as she was scared), never got caught. The asking people to buy for them still goes on now where I live, bunch of chavs that looked about 12 asked me the other week, said I could have one of the beers, "buyers rights", was almost tempted as I relied on it at that age, then they asked for fosters so I told them to **** off, wouldn't drink that even for free.

Not really far from my point, to have to rely on begging those older than you is still a lot harder than having a dealer ready to produce it whenever called upon, and if they are to get into underage hands the product will be well regulated and not full of shite.

As for shoplifting, like fags you'd imagine it would be kept behind the till so no danger of that.

It wouldn't be sold in corner shops.

It would be sold in specialist shops whose licence would be doubtless be in jeopardy if they, their staff or anyone was supplying to minors in a way they could have prevented.

Of course, I'm whistling into the wind with this suggestion.

Whilst Little Ms Fields of Wheat occupies No 10 and whilst the pearl clutchers run the Tory party, and whilst the Daily Mail would run a "reefer madness" campaign, there is absolutely no way it's ever getting legalised here, despite the logic, the reduction in harm and, yes the revenue.

For shame.

Has this been posted yet? I have kept out of the debate on here as I know little about cannibis and have no intention of taking it. Although my neighbour gave me a tiny piece from a plant pot he had. Not enough to have any affect. It was likr straw.

Anyway this was on Facebook. A man with Parkinsons was given some. The change in him was remarkable. I have also seen posts where people have taken medicine which contains something similar ECB or something. they said it was expensive and open to abuse by dealers so is wary of buying it. If it was available from the doctor then it would remove the risk of having dangerous doses from dealers.

For general consumption i'm not sure, the plus side I suppose would be a drug which has been produced from a regulated source, will have fixed prices, and you would know it aint ging to kill you, I am assuming its not going to bought from someone in the bogs at a night club. But do we really want our kids having any more brain sucking distractions or habits , mobile phone addiction, social media addiction, computer game addiction , this might be a step too far, if it's legalised ,even if it is for 18+ only,  it's going to be pretty difficult to persuade your kids that drugs are not the way best route to take for recreational time when its been endorsed by the gov't.

I do strongly support however the use of and proper testing of CBD , although initial MRI scans suggest my wifes chemo appears to have had a positive result , anything that appears to enhance or be effective with similar treatments or pain relief should absolutely be allowed for those individuals.

It's a completely sensible point to make, but I must admit to being very sceptical that legalisation would be perceived by many people, especially of the younger generation, as an official endorsement of smoking cannabis being an OK thing to do.

Any argument that starts with 'well I don't know anybody that does (insert activity here)' is probably a shite one, but I don't think I've ever met, or known of, anybody who would be really up for smoking weed, if only it weren't illegal.

I keep reading that young people are increasingly turning their backs on alcohol, which may mean nothing at all, but suggests to me, at least, that their appetite for getting wasted is by no means insatiable. Those that want to get out of their tree, by whatever means, are doing it anyway.

Also, I really hope the piece of positive news your wife has had on the medical front is followed up by more of them
